Prius (2010-12) :: Windshield Washer Won't Work?
Jan 18, 2012
I have a 2010 Prius and now is cold here 20-30F. So, I filled up with tinter wash fluid the bottle and today when i entered my card was 25F and i can spry out washer fluid on back window but on the front window, it seems it is not working? It can be frozen because of low quality fluid? then why it sprays on back? Or maybe is a pump problem? So we have two pumps on 2010 Prius for washing windows (one pump for front windows and one pump for rear windows? or there is a common one? Because there may left some water after i filled up with wash fluid. Yesterday it was working even in front and even on back. Today after I left car for two hours in underground Mall Parking i thought it will work when i'll come, but surprize, it wasn't working and there was 42F in parking. But the back spray is still working? So, what do you think? Can I have a pump problem? Does Prius have two pumps for washing windows?

Noticed that the windshield washer fluid level is ALWAYS low, needing significant amount to refill, even when not used? I'm not talking weeks or months, so that evaporation could be the cause, but rather DAYS. No evidence of leaks under vehicle, either. What could do this?

The windshield washer does not work. What could the problem be? I thought I would check the fuse. What fuse is for the washer and were ls it loc? is it under the hood ? or could it be the pump and how would i check it ?

all in sudden I found that the windshield washer of my Hyundai Sonata 2006 GL doesn't work. When I pulled back the control bar, the wipers were swapping but no water came out. I was pretty sure that the water tank was full, and I didn't hear any motor working sound when I did that. Is there any way I can replace it by myself? Or how much does it cost if I go to a Hyundai dealer? This is the very first time that my car had an issue. In the past years, I never went to a repair shop except for oil change and other maintenance.

While I was at the shop getting the steering fixed I asked about the inop washer pump. They told me the pump failed.
Anyway 30 minutes later I have replaced it but still does not work.
So what next?
Which fuses do I check (I already checked them but give me specific numbers)
Where are the relay and how do I check them?
How do I test the pump?

2012 Elantra GLS ... The windshield washer spray pattern is too low. The nozzles on the Elantra appear to be entirely plastic unlike the conventional ball which I can poke a needle in to adjust it. I ran the hand under the cowl cover and could not feel any kind of adjustment mechanism. How to adjust the nozzles to aim higher.

We have a fleet of Prius's with 11k miles on them. Windshield wipers don't work and cigarette lighter plugs don't work. I'm guessing this is due to blown fuses. Where the fusebox is? I'm getting fed up with this. Also, is there a diagram somewhere that shows which fuses are for which circuits? (IE Which number fuses protects windshield wiper circuit) so I can finally see in the rain...

I own an Elantra GLS 2012, and starting a week ago, I noticed my windshield washer was coming out through the nozzles with low pressure (1/2 of the windshield). Yesterday one stopped working and the left nozzle is "spitting" (1/3 of the windshield).
I thought they are clogged and today I tried to unclog them using computer air cleaner, but air was coming out through the left nozzle with pressure and nothing through the right nozzle. When I tried to wash my windshield, no pressure on my right nozzle and low pressure on my left nozzle. Same as before.
I plugged off the tube from the hose connector under the hood, and if I pull back the control bar, I have a stream of washer liquid over 3m (10ft) long, but if I put my finger on the hose, I don't have pressure on the windshield washer.
My question is: the nozzles are clogged or the pump is dead?
I know the clogged nozzles are not under warranty, but what about the pump?

Does this car have a sensor/light for a low windshield washer fluid warning?

The front windshield washer is not working. I can hear the pump running but no fluid comes out. The rear washer works fine.

I went to use my windshield washer the other day and no spray came out. The wipers did operate normally, which left me almost unable to see out of the now streaked and dirty windshield.
When I looked under the hood, the reservoir was very low. When I filled it today, it began leaking almost immediately. I crawled underneath and removed some of the plastic underbodies, but could not find where it was coming from. I guess it could be rodents chewing the hoses.

The windshield washers of 2014 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v) didn't work all winter if the temp was +20F or less. I'm using -30F or -40F washer fluid. I use the same fluid in my 1995 Previa, and its washers worked all winter. A friend has a 2014 Prius, which didn't have any washer problems.
I tried pouring warm water over the nozzles, but they're location makes it difficult to reach them. Is it the nozzles or is it the rubber hose that feeds them from the reservoir?

Curios problem with my car. When I spray washer fluid quickly the wipers do not start. I can literally empty litres of fluid on the windshield and they still will not activate. Now on other cars I have had you can play chicken and pull quickly on the lever and this I can do a off a couple of times without activating the wipers but not constantly. I had it in for service and the mechanic said he has never seen this problem before and does not even know how to fix it. It does get annoying that you have to waste a lot more fluid to activate the wipers "auto" function by holding it on a few seconds longer than needed.

My trip to Gillette WY was OK but the windshield washer froze up and did not work the entire trip. So much for a snow car, but now, in warmer climate, only the drivers side will spray...nothing at all out of the passenger side. I looked up the system on Ebahn 92-32 but it just shows how to remove the tip. How to replace or check the hose? Or, even better, how to direct heat to the washer system to keep it from freezing up?
