When I replaced the cabin air filter recently, I noticed the little latch loop on the left hand side bottom was broken. I just put it together and it does not rattle.
View 2 RepliesThe plastic cover on the left front interior light came off; it is mostly intact but the small plastic tab in the inside (where the lightbulb is) is broken. It seems to be attached to the whole mechanism.

I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.
So I've been getting that nasty, musky odor in my 2006 Sonata. I just purchased it used last December, so don't know when the cabin air filter was last changed. I had to do this with my Camry not too long ago, so I still have the spray to try on it if the filter isn't too old/dirty. The problem:
When I lowered the glovebox to get to the cabin air filter, one of the tabs was broken off. I figured no big deal. I pressed on the other three and they all broke off. My husband tried to get it out, but no luck. I'm afraid of damaging it if I try to pry it out and even if I succeed, do I have to do that every time I need to get to the filter? Where I would find a new housing?
Interested in possibly changing out the OEM misty grey carpet floor for the darker OEM grey when I have my seats out anyway to install heated leather seats. The carpet I have now shows dirt and stains too easily.
View 2 RepliesAfter replacing the cabin air filter I heard a loud noise from the fan area in the car. I rechecked the installation which was ok. I then reached down into the fan assembly, and there was the problem, some leaves had fallen into the fan when I removed the old filter. Took out the leaves , and all is well.
I replaced the OEM filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter which interesting enough only had half as many folds. I figure a big company like Fram must know what they are doing?
I opened the hood today to install the Carbon Fiber logo and noticed that the plastic cover sitting on top of the radiator was loose. That's when I noticed that the 2 clips holding the plastic cover were broken.
View 3 RepliesI had to remove/repair my hood latch (cable broke) on my 2008. There is a 2-wire sensor or similar device mounted to the latch. what is its purpose? I broke the wires to it - yet see no evidence that any system ceased to work as a result. I want to make sure it isn't something critical.
View 7 RepliesSo i traded in my POS 2008 Jeep Liberty and decided to go the Toyota way based on family and friends saying its THE BEST maker and Consumer Reports seconding that. I've had it for just over a week and the rattling/buzzing noise from something being loose under the steering wheel is driving me nuts. In addition to the Pin from the fuel filler door wont extract and come back out so the fuel filler door is stuck slightly open. Besides these 2 small issues i love the car, just not the quality control i guess.

And the reason for my post: Had a smell coming through the vents that just smells like rotten leaves. Changed the cabin air filter. Smell still there.
Where does the cabin air filter air intake go? I want to make sure there are no obstructions or smell inducing things living in this intake.
I guess my question is..Where does the air come in to the cabin from and where best can I make sure its unobstructed?
Just purchased a 2012 Prius a few weeks ago. if cabin air filter preinstalled in the new cars?
View 19 RepliesI had a surprise this morning when I attempted to put in a new Cabin Air Filter. These filters look square at first glance, but are actually rectangular -- about 7-3/4" x 8-3/8" or so.
The issue is that the pleats on the one that came with the car run in a different direction than the one I purchased from my local Toyota dealer.
While the obvious enough solution would be to simply rotate the new filter 90* before putting it into the plastic carrier, this is impossible since the plastic carrier has a divider that runs parallel to the pleats.
Bought a 2013 model last spring. Yesterday, When I made a trip to airport for dropping my girl friend off. I drove it back about 35miles to home. A/C ON makes terrible smell. Immediately I suspect for condition of cabin air filter from my experience from the past. After I switched it back and forth of recirculation switch. I am pretty sure it is involving with. Now I tried to reach it. But I can not figure out how to take grove box rid with out giving a damage. Even it may not there behind a glove box (my wild guess).

So my 2011 maintenance book says to "clean" my cabin air filter at 15,000 miles. I haven't pulled it out yet but after reading 10,000 posts on the subject, not once did I see a reference to anyone "cleaning" a cabin air filter.... Am I missing something ?
View 14 RepliesEvery day for the last four years the timer on the air filter drives me crazy. It insists on switching from filter to outside air after three minutes, which sucks back in all the Diesel fumes and dust I just finished filtering. I would very much like to disable the timer. I'm not afraid of cutting wires.
View 14 RepliesMy CEL has come on about four times in the last month shortly after replacing the air filter with a pepboys Purolator air filter. I have cleaned the MAF sensor each time using MAF cleaner and the issue along with the CEL go away then come back in about a week.
I don't know if the MAF sensor is bad because each time i clean it, the issue stops. also, upon first glance at the Purolator filter, i thought it looked a little thicker than the stock one but I didn't think twice about it.
