I have a 2010 Prius II. where is the place to charge a cellphone? I see a black cover low on the dashboard, but there doesn't seem to be anything below it.

View 19 RepliesIf I have my key fob and cellphone in the same pocket I can open up the car with no issue by walking up to the vehicle, but when I try to start the vehicle the digital dash says " No Key Detected ". When I separate the key fob from the cell phone then the car can detect the key fob. (if I remove the fob out of my pocket and leave the phone or if I remove the phone and leave the fob it will detect the key and I'm able to start the vehicle).
View 3 RepliesJust bought a 2010 Hertz GenIII w/44,000mi. Wife had trouble starting it twice with weird messages like place car on flat surface to orange triangle. I hear it may be a weak battery???
View 3 RepliesSeen the battery charge level at 100%? The battery charge display seems to never go up to the top bar. I think I may have noticed it once, but I might have been dreaming that.
View 18 RepliesI know car likes to shut off at 3-4 bar, but what if I want to keep the battery closer to full in order to get more power. Is there any way to tell the computer to keep engine running?
View 19 RepliesWhy, when braking in reverse, there seems to be no "charge" indication on the HSI...for example, backing down a long driveway, etc.
View 8 RepliesSince I purchased my 2010 I've never been able to use EV mode. I know it's just a novelty, and actually hurts gas mileage (due to the need to convert gas to electricity to recharge the battery), so I haven't lost sleep over this, but it is somewhat annoying.
Is there a known problem with 2010s and EV mode? No matter how gently I apply the accelerator it pops out into ECO mode again almost immediately with a message like "insufficient charge" (or something like that), even if the battery is near full charge (I've never seen it fully charged).
Should I be concerned..I have been noticing my battery is charging down overnight. I checked and all lights are off. It does charge immediately in the 10 mile I drive to work..but I am concerned why overnight it should be discharging.
Another Question - The right/left indicator sound is very muted..is that normal? Like, if I have the indicator on to merge into traffic, I am not sure it is as I can barely hear it chirping..
I picked up my wife's Prius yesterday and drove it 200 miles back home. Most of the driving was motorway (highway) but the battery never went over 3/4 charge. How do I fully charge them?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2010, Prius III. Whenever I plug my blackberry storm into the usb slot, my phone says "there is not sufficient power to charge the phone". I've tried charging with the Storm 1 and Storm 2 but neither seem to work. I have plugged in my ipod and it seems to charge just fine. Is it just the phone that won't allow it to charge or is it the fact that it's a micro usb that the car may not be able to handle? Or maybe the usb port is faulty.
View 1 RepliesI've noticed that after sitting over night my battery for the hybrid system is not charged enough to operate the car in EV or for the first mile or two it does not seem to use as much electric power to supplement the car. After a couple miles it is charged or near charged and I see more use.
View 5 RepliesOn a hot sunny day, occasionally I have to be stopped for extended periods with the A/C running which means the engine will come on for a few minutes out of every 10 minutes or so. to charge the traction battery. Engine comes on at 2 bars and goes off at 3 bars.
As engine efficiency at idle is low, would it be better to put it in D with the brake firmly pressed and push the accelerator so that the engine speed is in the high efficiency range so as to produce more charge for the fuel burnt and maybe also I could charge it to a few more bars on the battery indicator?
When I go out to do errands around town (I live right in town) I get horrendous gas mileage. Now, I understand gas mileage is high at the beginning of a trip, but for this long and this high and under these circumstances? I'm getting ABOVE 10l/100km when I have 80% charge available (for americans, that's disgustingly high MPG like, pick-up truck high), AND my foot is completely off the gas. Literally, coasting, or braking, and I'm still sucking up gas. What the heck?
Is this just because it takes a certain amount of time for the engine to run no matter what or something? I still don't see any reason for me to be eating up all that gas when my foot isn't even on the gas AND most importantly, I have charge available. Feels pointless for me to use my car for what I use it for 70% of the time, which is for quick errands around town at low speeds. Thought the prius was suppose to be a superstar for this kind of thing.
So I tried using a faulty cellphone charger in one of my charging ports. I heard a loud click and now my car is not starting. So, the first thing I looked at was the fuse for the start and engine, thinking they may have been blown, but that was not the case.... Where do I go from here?
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T
I have a stock 2010 Corolla with the standard circle speakers in the front, 6X9s in the back. I bought some speakers that do not have the tweeters built into the woofer for the front speakers so where to put them, etc. The speakers that I bought are 5-1/4" two-way loudspeaker components (Infinity Kappas) [URL] can mount the woofers in the door no problem, and I can wire the crossovers that came with it... WHERE DO I PUT THE TWEETERS??? I have to drill in the metal of the door... and poke holes in the actual door panel cover for sound to come through it?
View 9 RepliesI installed seat covers which required removing my entire rear bench cushion. Now I can't get it to snap back into place. It's the 2 inserts beneath and in front of where each passenger's crotch would be that are causing the trouble.
To release said snaps, I had to pull up with a lot of force, so I figured to snap them back in, I could just slam my knee down right above but no dice -and I made full use of my 163 lbs and gravity multiple times.
I just purchased a 2014 Prius C and am having a problem with the Hill Start Assist/Control.
At every single stop, no matter how lightly I press the brake, when I release the brake the car stays in place for two seconds (no gas), and then starts moving.
I am assuming this is the HSC and not a normal function on the car.
If I depress the brake all the way no lights come on, no buzzer sounds, but the above described behavior still happens. I've tried the light stops on up hills, down hills, and flat ground, it all is the same.
New 2015 PIP, got it 2 months ago, and it drove fine till Thursday, when this message came up. I believe I first got a "Charge interrupted due to malfunction" and then the dreaded "Check Hybrid System, Stop the vehicle in a safe place." alert with all the engine lights on.
Took it to the dealer and they charge it up, cleared the message, and gave it back. They told me it was because I shared the car's outlet with something else, and then threatened to charge me money if I came back because it was my fault. Took it home, charged it exactly the way they told me to, and this morning the error message came back up. Going to take it in to the dealer tomorrow.
How to charge a USB device from the 12V socket indirectly to avoid the prius ground loop.
View 17 RepliesI've been told that my 12V battery was low.
I stumbled on this ATV/ motorcycle battery companion in the garage, can I use it to charge my prius?
I've never even used the port yet. If it can charge cellphones it will make my upcoming trip easier.
