I have a really long downhill at the end of my commute. If I am putting on slight brake pressure to regen, are my brake lights on? Or do they only come on when you put enough pressure on the pedal to start slowing the car?

Yesterday I saw one with just one "square" of LEDs burned-out, and today I saw one with the left-most row (5 squares vertical) inactive but the other 7 still working. Do cops pull-over owners if the brake light still works, but is partially burned out?
View 3 RepliesIn my 2010 IV, the brake lights activate on the late side. I can only roughly measure it, but brake lights go on when the brake pedal is depressed at least 1.5 inches. I am used to brake lights in other cars activating with a light touch of the pedal.
Problem is: this really ratchets up the danger of tailgaters, who cannot see when you are beginning to stop. Occasionally, a driver who has been trailing me asks if the brake lights are working properly.
Can I assume that my rear brake lights don't come on when I'm in B mode on my transmission? I searched for something about this in my manual and on this website, but found no mention of it. Since it's meant to simulate downshifting, I'm guessing my brake lights don't come on.
View 19 RepliesI had not driven the Prius in a few weeks, and even then, that was for less than five miles, and had the low tire pressure indicator come on late last week when the temperatures cooled down, which I fully expected given my opportunities with the Toyota Dealer properly inflating tires. We were away for another week and returned today and I decided to check the tires and add air, and in addition to the tire pressure indicator, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake Indicator lights were on. As soon as I filled all the tires to the specified PSI, that indicator disappeared but the brake related ones all stayed on.

The car drives and handles just fine, brakes feel normal. I have tried resetting the lights with a trick with a paper clip someone else posted, but it didn't work for me.
View 7 RepliesI just get a hand of a brake blinkers module that when you connected parallel to the brake lights it will blinks and strobes like emergency vehicles. When brake is pressed, the brake lights blinks rapidly and strobes random pattern. It gives more visibility instead just stay on.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.

View 4 Repliesi have the brake (!) the ABS and the VSC lit up after i got new bearings and new brake pads and rotors, the car was also stalling before the mechanic removed these bearing "dust cover" circles that must have been causing speed sensor interfernce bc the spedometer was stuck on 0....so the car seems to be done stalling after those were removed and all the big lights went off then i hit the brakes a few miles later and those three lights came on...
View 2 RepliesSuddenly all these lights came on in a 2012 Elantra . Had at the dealer and they checked wheel speed sensors, wiring to sensors and said all those are ok and the abs module is bad. I replaced the module, bled the brakes and the exact same lights are still on with the same codes coming up. Tech is confused as I am.

Having an intermittent issue with ABS, Traction and BRAKE lights all illuminating. I have to shut off car and re-start to get them off. Car runs and drives fine while this is happening.
No CEL.
Perhaps a silly question but I noticed on my new 2015 RX 350 the brake lights that are in the rear hatch don't come on when the brake is applied, only the brake lights in the body of the car on each of the outer corners. I was following another new 2015 the other day and noticed it was the same. When looking at the the part of the taillight assembly that's in the rear hatch, it appears there are LEDs in there. why they don't light up?
View 14 RepliesWe started having problems first with the car dying at stops, and having to be restarted. We had the oxygen sensor cleaned, and it stopped that problem. Then my ABS lights came on, and my cruise control stopped working. When the car was cold and I tried to take off (forward or reverse) the rpms would not go above 1000, and the car would only move like it was idling. I read in a closed discussion on this forum that it was the stop light switch under the brake pedals so we got one and changed it out. Same problems.
So we thought we had a bad one, so we exchanged it, and the tech at the Auto Parts store said "Maybe you have a fuse out." We changed the stop light switch again, same problem. We found a blown fuse marked "stop light." It is a $2.70 fuse, 10 amps. We put it in, and the brake lights worked. I planned to put it in the shop the next day, having read that it could be the air inlet sensor, the throttle body needing cleaning, the transmission, the transmission fluid....anyway, I had to go to the store this morning, and the ABS light was out, the cruise control was working, and the car no longer ran in "limp mode."
Before you do anything else, change the fuse!
As I am driving, occasionally, the abs and brake lights come on but only when I am using the bluetooth OBD2 connector with Torque running. Its happened 3 times in the past week. Almost everytime I use the app.
When they first came on I let the app do a trouble code scan and it said nothing was saved in the cpu. When I started the car the lights were off.
No reason, just came on this morning on the way to work. Driving at my lunch brake it 'fees' like the ABS and traction control isn't working...
I had a wheel sensor replaced 6 months ago when all the dashboard lights came on during a rainstorm.
Could this be another sensor...or maybe one that needs cleaning, going bad, etc.
I'm fairly handy with a wrench, but where to start?
No brake lights or dash lights radio,headlights etc. Nothing.. Horn works and the emergency lights. A little red one at the start button is on sometimes. Tried jumping under the hood [+ tab} and checked the 12v battery and it checks good.
View 3 RepliesDid a front brake job on my prius today. I replaced the pads and the rotors. I just turned the car on and I have 4 lights on : emergency brake, VSC, ABS and the yellow (!) warning sign. There is also a check engine, but it was there before (something related to my throttle pedal). I have a ODB2 device.
The only "special" things that I can think about is that we absent-mindedly pushed on the brake pedal while the caliper was off the rotor, so the piston was fully extended. Also, the lights were on for a while, so the 12V battery might be low.
We are currently charging the 12V battery.
Recently while pulling into the gas station the brake, Triangle !, ABS and VSC lights came on. The dealer reset the error and said my ECU needs replacement at a cost of $1843. The Prius is a 2005 with 147000 miles. No problems since the reset so I am hopefull. I don't recall reading about a lot of others having to have expensive ECU replacements so I wonder how many have had similar problems and replaced their ECU.
