Is there any way to reverse the drive knob so that forward is drive and backward is reverse? For some reason I tend to put it in reverse and expect to go forward. Any options?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius and I noticed for the first time today that the volume control knob stopped responding when I twisted it. I turned off the radio off then back on and it appeared to be working again.
My car has about 41,000 miles on it so I'm not sure if the warranty is still applicable.
Is there a possibility of the radio itself overheating causing this issue. I experienced this the other day, was driving around and the volume control on the radio no longer worked. Could turn it off and all other functions worked but the volume could only be changed from the tracer buttons on the steering wheel. Shutting the car off and back on worked but for how long? Seems that this should be a recall since several owners have experienced this issue with the jbl stereo.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2015 Lexus rx 350 it is not all wheel drive. When I put the transmission in drive or reverse I have what I would call a double engagement. It feels like it is going into gear twice. It does not slip it shifts smooth.

I'm not due for service or an oil change for another 5,000 miles so I'm hoping it's not something I need to address immediately. Do you think it would be safe to wait until then?
I just started hearing a loud click when I change from park to reverse and from reverse to drive. If I keep moving the knob between those three spots with my foot on the brake and hand brake off, I hear a loud click at each spot. Hard to describe... anyway, this only happens when I first start the car, by the time I get to work if I try doing that when I park there is no loud click sound. The thing is, I don't know if this was always happening and I just noticed it now, or if it just started.
View 14 RepliesI recently leased a 2013 RX 350 and started hearing a weird loud noise almost in the first week itself. It seems to happen whenever I shift the gears from Reverse to Drive. The loud noise comes from the back of the car and anyone sitting in the car (speakers turned off) can hear/feel it. It seems to be worse in the morning (or when the engine is cold).
I took it to the lexus service center and the person told me something about differential pressure, which I really didn't understand:-). However, he said nothing can be done and its not a safety issue and sent me back home without any fix. I have driven many cars in my life so far and never ever came across something like this. Is it something normal at all?
I shifted to "reverse" but the car went to "drive" instead. I've only had my Prius for 2 weeks. Today was the first time I encountered this problem, and it happened 3x.

I have a video. The car has 114k I just changed the oil I thought maybe it's low but it's not and hasn't moved since it was changed.
View 4 RepliesI have an Elantra 2012 sedan GL and last year i tried installing HID's. It worked for a whole but then it stopped after. I learned that it wasn't getting enough power so then yesterday I bought a wiring kit to be able to wire my HID to tap to the battery to get more power. Everything was fine till I got to work but when I had to leave work., there was an issue. Whenever i switch the gear from park to drive or reverse or neutral. My car seems to jerk. And when I'm driving and it changes gears, it also jerks. Kind of the same thing how if your driving a manual car and you change gears wrong. This happens when my lights are off. But when i turn them on it then stops. And when i turn it back of it doesn't do it anymore.
View 5 RepliesOk first off I am a used car dealer and have sold 20 plus gen IIs and never had to replace the main Hybrid battery pack... until this one! after i replaced it with a used one every thing seemed to be fine, I drove the car for a while the check engine light went off(the reason we knew the battery pack was bad) and after a few miles of driving the red triangle light went off.. yea! I think im done so we put all the carpet and rear seats back in and i get in it to start it and put it on the lot and it will not go into gear or start. all the dash lights come on and will go into neutral when i push the brake but just will not go into drive or neutral.
Here are some things we already tried:
1. put the original battery back in the car- no change
2. put our jump box to the small battery-no change
3. checked the brake lights they are coming on when i push the brake
4. put the scanner on the obdII- no codes
The car is an 06 with 200k miles in very good shape. Could it be in the shifter and not related to the battery change out?
I have a 2005 Prius. 3 weeks ago my dash lit up with warning lights so I took it to the dealer. They ran a diag and came up with

"Vehicle has bad #4 battery block. Neesd HV Battery pack and HV ECU" I had just hit 150,900 miles.
Given the cost I decided to fix it myself. After tracking down some cells and getting a HV ECU from a local junk yard I pulled out the hv battery broke it down, tested the two cells in the #4 block and replaced the low voltage cell. I then replaced the HV ECU. I put everything back together and everything started up fine and ran great.
Things work well for 2 weeks then yesterday as I'm pulling into my driveway the main error indicator (the big red triangle containing a !) lit up. Needless to say I was disappointing. I turned the car off and then turned it back on. At this point most all of the error indicators were lit (see attached image). I get a new error indicator on the multi-information display (the red car with the ! in it, according to the manual I'l supposed to take it the the dealer immediately) The car started but the engine does not start. The car will not go into drive or reverse, just neutral.
I thought I may not be pressing the brake correctly so I spent some time making sure I was depressing the brake pedal fully when starting up. No change. I checked that the break lights are working when I press the pedal and they are working correctly. I checked the brake fluid reservoir and it is filled to the correct levels.
A friend bought a innova OBD2 scan tool (his kid's cars break a lot) I borrowed it and hooked it up to my car. No error codes detected was what it told me. I was a bit perplexed. I switched to the Toyota enhanced DTC and then Readiness DTC and finally found some codes:

I was hoping for something a bit less vague. So that's where I am right now. I have the indicator lights as seen in the attached image. The car powers up but the engine does not start. The car will not go into drive or reverse. I don't know the difference between the standard DTC and the readiness DTC.
For a few months now I have been hearing a tap clunk type noise coming from under the car when I shift the auto trans into drive and reverse. Also sometimes when the car is slowing when driving I hear the tap sound as it shifts into first. I drove in by my local dealer and they listened to it and said Elantra transmissions can get noisy there is nothing wrong. They told me I have plenty of Warranty left so if something happens I will be covered.
View 2 RepliesSo I just installed my short shifter and everything works great, all the gears engage, however, when I put my shift knob on I noticed I couldn't engage reverse because it sits down too low and doesn't allow the reverse lockout to get over the rail and engage reverse. I have to loosen the knob so it sits higher and then I can engage reverse, but it moves around, so I can't leave it like this...right now my plan is to make some sort of spacer for the knob to sit on and then put loctite on it...seems like it would solve my problem. I have a Hyundai Aluminum shift knob and the short shift is OEM so I don't see what could be wrong ...
View 8 RepliesIs it normal to occasionally feel a little vibration or feedback in the shift knob when putting the car into reverse? It happens whether the car is in the "Warm-Up" phase or not, and seems pretty random. Happens about 25% of the time. It doesn't last but a tenth of a second, and it just barely makes an audible noise when the window is rolled down. This is my first manual transmission car so I just don't have the experience to 'diagnose' this. And no, I'm not trying to put the car in reverse while the car is still rolling forward.
VW Golf 5-speed....
Vehicle was repaired after front end collision and I get no codes found on scanner, had some bad connectors which I replaced and codes went away. I don't get ready light and the dash lights do not cycle off (ABS, SRS, Check engine, Etc. Etc.) The car will shift into neutral but not drive or reverse. Has new Aux battery and Hybrid battery is showing two bars. What to check ?
View 6 RepliesI have a Prius v 2012. At about 3,000 it began intermittantly going into reverse when I put it in drive. The dealership has not been able to duplicate the problem. Yesterday, I picked it up at the Dealership and it happened when I started the car. I got a technician to come out just in case it happened again. He said it was the way I was shifting. I told him, if that was the case it would do it all the time, but it doesn't. Besides, there are no instructions for shifting a certain way.
