When I turned the AC on, I get water leak inside. The water dripped from inside of the center console where shifter sits right above.
The water sift into the driver carpet area and front passenger area. If I don't take up the mat, the inside smell like mildew.
I took the car to the dealer and they said the drainer is clogged by the leaves and the water from the AC gets back up into the cabin.
I drive a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The car has had some electrical problems going back about a year and a few months that I have neglected to fix. The first problem was with the shifter not being able to move out of park without hitting the button inside the center console to do a shift lock override, which started last August.
The second problem was with the ignition not being able to release the key without hitting a switch inside the ignition, which started back in the Spring. I have just been rolling along promising to eventually address those, but yesterday the car radio stopped functioning. Then this morning the car would not start.
The electrical system comes on just fine (save the radio), but when I go to start it the car just clicks over. I did not leave any lights or switches on, so I am assuming it must be some sort of problem with the electrical system.
The cigarette lighter adapter inside the center console of my 2010 Prius (next to the USB/iPod and AUX plugs) does not appear to be working, although the adapter underneath the gear shifter works fine. A few weeks ago, I found some coins, which I keep inside that center console that had gotten wedged inside the cigarette lighter adapter cavity. It was after removal of those coins that I first learned that the adapter was not working (I tried a few different devices to make sure that it was the adapter itself not working).
From reading the web, it sounds like the fix may be as simple as replacing the fuse. From what I understand, the fuse is just above the emergency parking brake. If so, where do I purchase a new fuse and how much does a new fuse cost? Also, how do I know which fuse needs replacing? Is that in the instruction manual?
Just took 2005 Avalon XLS to place-they said all the sunroof drains are clear (4 drains in each corner). We have to bring it back. Leaks are located in rear corners on two back post and ceiling around rear window.
I noticed it a couple years ago but just thought it was glue that turned brown with age. Can't believe I didn't do anything then. Plus we park car up hill on our driveway with front pointed high.
For the past couple of days i've had condensation on the windshields during cold mornings and nights and thought something was up. I looked around and found the carpet on the driver's side of my car is damp and there was a puddle of water directly underneath the seat. I've read it might be a clogged AC drain or something like that. Some solutions seem to be either blowing the AC drain underneath the car with compressed air to get rid of a clog, or finding the tube inside the car and properly reconnecting it incase it got dislodged or kinked somehow. Or does this sound like a different problem? Again only the driver's side carpet seems to be wet.

I've recently noticed an odd smell in the car and found a small wet spot underneath the passenger front floor mat, only to be followed by same in the rear passenger floor mat. I was hoping it won't happen again, but I found myself with the wet floor few weeks later after the rain.
I first thought it may be the bike rack (which I have posted in the earlier month) but seeing the location and occurence, it couldn't be from the rack. It was always the underneath the center of the freaking floor mat.
My R is at the dealer since yesterday, getting a full physical.. They're even talking about removing the headliner to make sure there is no internal leak from the roof.

View 15 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius. I recently discovered some cold water leaking from behind the center instrument console on to the front passenger side floor. It only leaks when the A/C is running and there doesn't appear to be any difference if running with fresh air or recirc air. I removed the plastic covers from that area to look around. There is cold water dripping from the bottom of the metal tube that goes behind the console and into I guess an A/C component. The water is not running down the tube as the tube itself is dry. So, I'm wondering if this may be condensation on the A/C unit? Also is there a drain tube that may be clogged or something like that?
View 10 RepliesI took my wife's 2010 tig for a drive after washing it this morning and noticed water on the rear window so I turned on the rear wiper. Well, to my dismay, the wiper didn't clean the water off because it was on the inside. I noticed water streaks on the inside part of the rear window a few weeks ago but I figured it was from condensation. It wasn't one or 2 drops, it was leaking down across the whole back window. I assume it is a seal but wanted to see if this is an identified issue.

Could something within my shifter box be box be broken? I can go into fifth and sixth manually from the shifter tower on the transmission,
View 3 RepliesThere's 2 small drips of dried water (and maybe soap) inside the upper half of my headlight on the glass. I first noticed this after I washed my car very thoroughly this weekend (I was spraying water on it for a long time). I suspect water/soap might have seeped through during the wash.
I know this is not supposed to happen, but is it a legitimate cause of concern? I'm thinking of letting this fly by, I can live with it, but perhaps not if it keeps happening every time I wash my car. Is it safe to wait on a trip to the dealership, or should I get it checked out right away?
BTW, I'm @ 30k miles
I have a 2005 Prius and there is water coming into the drivers side floor. We believe this may have been going on for awhile and didn't realize it. My son drove the car and there was a "smell" that started about a year ago and I thought he spilled something inside the car.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, 2.4, 4-cyl automatic. While pulling into a parking space, the driver in the vehicle next to me threw her door open. I braked quickly (but did not slam on the brakes) to avoid hitting the door then continued into the space after she closed her door. I then tried to put my car in reverse to re-position it in the parking slot. The shifter on the console would not go into REVERSE and obviously not into PARK since PARK on the shifter is above REVERSE. The shifter will go into both DRIVE and NEUTRAL. I now have a car that will go only forward. Also, I cannot remove the key from the ignition switch since the shifter will not go into PARK. I've not had a problem like this with this or any car before.
I also noticed that my ABS/ESC has been coming on more frequently and staying on and I attributed that to a bad sensor since my brakes are in good shape and I have not had to rely on the ABS system. I don't believe that the ABS/ESC warning light and the shifter problem are connected but I'm not totally sure. Why my shifter won't go into REVERSE or PARK????
On the 06 Prius I have been working on, I noticed a light build up of pink coolant residue on the inside of the ICE water pump pulley. I assumed that this was due to a coolant leak from the weep hole, which points to an impending water pump failure.

Someone had posted that they had gotten a replacement from their dealer. I went to my dealer and all he would sell me was THE WHOLE SHIFT UNIT. All I need is to pop the little cap on top of the shifter, not replace the entire unit.
What I was wondering is if you have gotten just the cap from your dealer, what might the part number be so I can get one.

View 2 RepliesIve noticed while looking at online photos of the 2011 F150s, that on the FX4 and above trim levels, there are 2 sets of buttons on the center gear shifter. On mine, there is only one for tow/haul mode. I can make out in the pictures that its still there, but what is the other button?
