Sort of sounds like the body is flexing when I initially back out of my driveway. Slight drop-off from the driveway to the road, and a kind of loud creak/cracking/popping noise seems to emanate from the right side of the car. No noise I can notice while driving and once the car does it, it takes a while before it will do it again, like after driving on level ground for a bit. Frame issues maybe?
View 10 RepliesModel Year 2010 Prius, rubber along the front edge of the sunroof glass looks dry/cracking, but only on the left side of the car. Don't think it has anything to do with the location it is parked in, as that and the orientation changes daily.
View 4 RepliesProblem I'm having with my sunroof on my '10 GTI. The sunroof opens an inch and makes cracking/grinding noises. Then it needs a push on the actual glass while turning the nob in order to force it to close. And the tilt function ends up with one corner of the glass further down then the other. How to fix this problem or how to remove the headliner, or if it is worth bringing to the dealer? The dealer is the last thing i want to do because my warranty is up and those jerks charge an arm and a leg on labor alone.

View 3 RepliesI recently bought an'08 Base model. It is making a creaking noise in the front end on the left side either behind the wheel or under the motor. It only does it when taking off from a stop and/or turning mainly to the right during slow speed, seems to be when the body weight is shifting. To me it sounds as though something needs greased or maybe a strut.

When I raise or lower the window, there is a loud pop/crack that happens. It always happens at the same height. I can raise and lower the window for a couple inch around that point and reproduce that sound everythime.

View 4 RepliesLast night we had torrential rains in Baltimore. This morning there were drops of water on the CD's on my passenger side seat, and the seat itself was pretty damp. Also water on the floor near the passengers' side door.
I checked the windows and the sunroof and all were completely closed. I had opened the internal slider on the sunroof yesterday to get some light. Usually I keep the slider closed. Maybe it was leaking even before yesterday, but I didn't notice it because the slider was catching the water.
Very disappointing. My 2011 Prius is less than a year old. I got the sunroof because of the solar cooling, which I like. I didn't think I'd have a problem with a well built car like the Prius, which I am otherwise very pleased with.
I'll wait until the next heavy rain, see if I can pinpoint the exact source of the leak, and then have it repaired while still under warranty.
Now and then when I open the sunroof it sticks and wont open... then I close it and try again and it opens but it makes a pop noise as if something sticking.... happens now and then. I am thinking some grease or oil somewhere is needed?

View 4 RepliesI've been having rattling noise problem on my 2010 RX350 for months now. It comes from the passenger side corner of the sunroof. It sounds like metal hitting glass. I took it to the dealer twice already but the problem is that each time the noise stops. I even drove with a technician in the car to replicate the noise but each time no sound, nothing.
View 11 RepliesToday was the first day I drove my Elantra on the interstate with the sunroof open. When I was cruising at 65-70mph, I kept hearing a noise that I thought was coming from another car. It sort of sounded like a popping or thumping noise. After a few minutes, I reached my hand up and noticed the sound was coming from the metal bar that rises up a little at the front of the opening when the glass slides back. The wind was vibrating it and making it flap in the wind.
View 2 RepliesCheck your cars to see if you have any failure happening. Parked outside year round. Don't know cause but dealer has ordered parts. Supposedly mine is only the second vehicle to have a similar problem. With sunroof partly open, check for rippling at the bottom of the trims and for cracks forming in the corners. My first notification of the problem was a corner of the trim popping off during a car wash. Seems the trim wants to expand off the glass. The good news is of course that it is only cosmetic and there's no leaking or anything plus it is under warranty.

View 12 RepliesGen3 2010, 15 months on the road, 62 000 km. While washing the car today I noticed that the rubber edge bonded to the sunroof glass is buckling/rippling/tearing. Cosmetic only, as far as I can tell - damage/wear doesn't permeate far enough down to cause a problem, I don't think.
View 2 RepliesSo there seems to be an issue with the sunroof already ( 2 weeks since ownership) . In UP/ DOWN mode it will not fully close and causes wind noise. With up down I'm referring to the tilt functionality. I don't get the message sunroof open when leaving vehicle however.
The work around is for me to open the sunroof in the horizontal mode and then close it again to get a proper seal and to eliminate wind noise. In the image you can see that the rear part of the moonroof sits lower than the metal roof....
Read the manual. performed reset. The reset made no difference. So basically to remedy the situation one either must open and close the sunroof or after closing it from tilt mode bump the button to make the moon roof rear part raise and become flush with the roof panel.
Bought the wife's 2013 Elantra GL in March, it is North American built, and has only 4500 kms on it. Last week we noticed a couple cracks in the paint and it looks like the paint it wrinkling and therefore opening up at the crack. Both cracks are located in the exact same position on either side of the car, and the exact same. They are on the plastic bumper cover, where the bumper meets the quarter panel and tailight. Since the paint has migrated back, you can clearly see the black plastic underneath. Sent a text message to my service rep and he said it should be no problem to get it covered under warranty. Now, just need to make the time to get the car into the dealer...

View 13 RepliesI've had my 2012 passat for one week and I love it but on two different occasions I've heard cracking noise coming from the top of the dash where it meets the windshield right after I started driving. It goes away after a few seconds and on both occasions it was hot outside.
View 10 RepliesI get a annoying cracking noise when I am driving and it is hot outside, have not noticed it in cooler weather, but as soon as the car has been sitting for hours in the heat and I start driving the dashboard seems to crack every few minutes. it seems like it happened on the corners where the tweeters are. I also get a crackiling sound when driving, sounds like rocks are hitting my window.
