I have noticed that if I push gas pedal while turning the corner, especially if starting to go uphill, there is significant vibration felt in the gas pedal. It happens every time, as I use the same road each day, for 6 months now. I recently had a rental prius for a weeks, and had the same experience, although not as pronounced as my car.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.

View 21 RepliesIs it normal to experience road vibrations in the pedal and floor? I've owned my car for about a month now (it's a used 2011) and it has brand new tires on it, but the past week or two it seems these road vibrations have worsened.. it's like I can feel the texture of the road on my feet. If I reach a freshly paved area it goes away like magic.
Is this indicative of a problem that I could have the dealer investigate? Or is this a "characteristic" of this car? I came from a 97 Corolla, with the exact same tires on it, and it did not have this problem at all. Then again, it was also much much quieter going over bumps too...
I have a 2011 elanta limited with the push to start. 3x now I will park and push to turn off car. & it turns engine off but navigation and such stay on. Ill try to start it up and try again, exact same thing. Then I give up and get out and it will beep because my keys aren't nearby and continue to stay on. It's lasted an hour tips so far until it will cooperate.I can't completely turn it off. More info, 3x in 4months. Not driven or done anything differently any of those times.
View 8 RepliesI have the limited with the push start. In order to start the car, you have to push the brake in so far and then push the push button. Lately the brake pedal is really hard to push down after its been sitting for an extended period. Once its started, all is fine. Its almost like I've pumped it a few times first, but its not the case.
View 11 RepliesJust noticed a clicking noise every time I push the clutch pedal down, I had my wife push the pedal while I listened under the hood and no noise it's coming from the clutch assembly under the dash! It's a 2013 only 4000km's on it so it's not like anything should be worn from over use etc. It's when I had the radio off driving I heard it, not super loud but more curiosity if it's normal noise from a clutch assembly.
As well the odd time I hear well my wife heard and pointed it out to me, when I push the brake pedal (more when we get in the car in the morning after sitting overnight) the same kinda sound more like when brake pad's are gently popping loose I guess you could say!? Like I said its mainly only after sitting for awhile, but we did hear it the odd time just as I go to slow down and only a quick 'click' again not deadly or anything more annoying that the car is brand new and we went brand new cause we were tired of creepy older cars we'd previously driven! I'm wondering if that may be exactly why its doing it since its new and need's to be used a bit to loosen up, this is the actually the first brand new no previous drivers car I've had!
I bought a new 2012 Elantra in March. Every so often I get a strange vibration through the brake pedal when I'm at a complete stop (red light/stop sign). It happens intermittently and I can't narrow down any exact cause. It happens when the engine is cold, fully warmed up, A/C on, A/C off, only been driving for a few minutes or driving for a few hours. No system lights come on. I've taken the car to the dealer twice and discussed this with them. They've not hooked it up for any diagnostics as yet. I don't think it's a vacuum line, engine or transmission issue because it is intermittent. I also don't think it's a defective engine/transmission mount. Could it possibly be the ABS module?

I passed inspection without replacing the (slightly) cracked rubber bushings for now, but what worries me is the cracks and a slight hole (it has not rusted completely through). Pictures attached. Should I do anything about this, and if so what?
Also, I've noticed that when I let go of the brake pedal, especially after a medium to the hard stop, I hear a squeaking... what's the cause for that? I know the front rotors have a bit of rust on the edges, but not sure if that's the cause... it seems to come from the back.
Other than that, the only other noise I've noticed is a slight clacking/tapping when the A/C is on, usually in hotter weather. The only thing I needed to pass inspection was to replace the muffler after a year and 1/2 ago, the last non-OEM part they put in at another shop was junk and rusted through pretty badly leaving a hole that was leaking. Ended up getting it replaced at the dealer with the OEM part this time...
Recently the brake pedal on my 2002 Prius has been a little harder to push for the first mm of travel it almost "sticks" requiring slightly more effort once it moves past that point it is normal no fading or extra effort required this problem has now progressed to the point where the pedal is kind of crunchy for the first 5mm of travel and occasionally will not return right away causing the brakes to drag a little but again pressure required to stop is exactly the same no fading etc
I am thinking since I live on 2 miles of dusty washboard dirt road and some grit has worked its way into the bushing .
My 2008 Prius with 105k miles recently started having a strange clunking noise when turning at low speed. Dealership diagnosed it as the steering shaft and yoke to replace.
View 7 RepliesI drove my 2005 Prius 2 hours and parked it for 5 hours. No problems on the trip down. I got back in it and it started up just fine. I was sitting in the parking lot with my foot on the brake (hadn't moved yet) and the following occurred:
The brake pedal seemed to push back on my foot
The red exclamation point illuminated
The yellow exclamation point illuminated
The ABS light illuminated
The VSC light illuminated
The red parking brake light illuminated (not shown)
All of these lights point to the skid ECU. It seems like my skid ECU is toast or something called the ABS & BA & TRAC & VSC Actuator is an issue (never heard of it but I see it connected to the skid ECU). I did a visual check of what I could and everything seemed in order. I pulled a bunch of fuses and I didn't notice any that were blown. (I didn't pull them all but will tomorrow)
After not finding anything, I drove back home. As expected, I had no regen but the bigger problem was that I had no power assist on the brakes. A few times I actually did skid and the car brakes really bad without regen or power assist. If it was raining or snowing I could definitely see a hazardous situation.
I'm kind of at a loss here. Tomorrow I'll pull the kick panel down and see if the skid ECU is getting power but I can't think of anything else that would cause this situation.
I was wondering from the community if they ever hear a "motor" sound or like a "leveling" sound coming from the steering/instrument cluster area after you press the keyless start button (not starting the car). To me I was thinking it's like the car is maybe moving the steering column kinda like how luxury cars move the steering away to allow people to get in and out. But I don't believe the steering wheel is powered since I adjust it using the levers. Just wondering what this sound is for, worried something isn't right with that.

It start overheating where a triangle light would come in the left corner of the Dash display at the same time it would say check Hybrid system and that would happen after 20 Minutes of driving. If I still keep on driving after 5 minutes all the warning light come on and the car doesn't move. I replaced the water pump.but still the same thing.

It happened to me more that 6 or 7 times in the last 2 month, that when I try to start the car (it does not matter how long it has been off) some of the lights on the right corner goes on and the start bottom does not do any thing. I can't start the car. I called dealer they said it can be the remote control battery. I'm using the other remote and still have the same problem. Last time I had to jumper the car and then took it to dealer, they did not find anything wrong with the battery. I'm sure something is wrong with the small battery. What the problem is?

View 19 RepliesA friend of mine recently had a VWR intake installed in his R along with HPA dogbone mount. After the installation he noticed a lot of vibration in his brake pedal. He then had the dogbone mount removed and the stock put back in thinking that the mount was causing the problem. After doing that he still had the vibrations in his brake pedal. He then brought the vehicle back to the dealership who did the install for him. They couldn't find what was causing the problem. He later found out that his VWR intake was resting directly on top of the brake reservoir. Noticed vibrations in the brake pedal or notice that it is resting on top of brake reservoir? Can his intake be missing a bracket or installed improperly?

I then started going around the corner, when the steering just locked up for no reason and the battery light came on. I then shut down the engine and restarted it, making everything ok. What happened?!?
