Prius (2010-12) :: Strange Noise Happen At Startup

Yesterday morning, my 2010 had a very strange noise happen at startup. I'll preface this by saying that it was very early in the morning and I wasn't quite 100% awake, so the exact chain of events are a little foggy to me.
It was about 65 degrees when I went to start the vehicle in the morning. I noticed it was pretty humid out and the first humid morning of the year (I live in central PA). When I hit the power button, a very loud noise came from the engine area. It sounded like metal grinding and the motor having difficulty idling. I depressed the brake to attempt to put the vehicle in drive and the yellow "!" indicator light came on with a message on the on board display (i cant remember what it said). I shut the vehicle down and after a few seconds hit the button again..... same thing. This time, the idling and "grinding-like" noise went away and then the car seemed 100% normal. I noticed there was a little bit of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust while it was idling/grinding roughly.
Perhaps not the smartest thing to do, but I left for work and the vehicle has worked 100% fine since the mishap yesterday morning. In total, I have driven about 150 miles since the issue with no problems.
I read a sticky post concerning a service bulletin for engine knocking at start-up but what i heard seemed to be more than knocking and it was well above 40 degrees.

My corolla has been making this noise since I purchased it January 2013. I haven't been able to figure out any variables as to why it makes the noise, it can happen at anytime. It doesn't happen often, but I would like to know if this is a quick fix.

I have a 2010 Prius which I have had for a couple years. I get this strange noise from time to time that happens while braking. It starts, it will do it for a while, and then go away. When it's doing it, It will also happen after I turn my car off when the engine does it's shutdown phase. Occasionally, when my car is not moving and the engine is off, if I push my brakes it will do it too.
The noise comes from the driver side, by the firewall. the noise is a loud rachety sound, and it does not sound healthy or normal. I took my car to the Toyota dealership 3 different times explaining what was going on, but since it is random in when it happens, they have always told me everything looks normal. (of course I am out of my 1 year warranty too I got when I purchased it used.)
Is this noise something I should be worried about? What it is? Last thing I want to do is burn out some component of my car when I can save it now.

I have the IV, with navigation. My most recent sound is from the cd player. If you open up the navigation (like your going to load a cd) it's even louder. It sounds like like a computer hard drive searching and writing data, and goes on for about 10 minutes (or longer, my patience doesn't last too long). Maybe the navigation system is uploading a database or something. No CD's vs. loading a cd do not make a difference, and the audio system is off. Weird. Only way to hear it is on a quiet night, in EV mode. Reminds me of when I used to reformat a hard drive on my old computer. I'll continue to listen for it when I pull up to a stoplight.

When I do a cold start-up and after about 5-10 seconds after start, I get this clicking noise coming from the rear passenger side. Almost sounds like something maybe gas cap is trying to lock or something. But when I hear this noise and even unlock the fuel cap I still get the same noise. I cant figure it out for the life of me. I even unlock and open the rear hatch... same noise. And after about 20 seconds of this noise then all of a sudden it goes away.

I have a 2010 Model I with only 19K miles on it (purchased new). For the past year or so, at any time throughout the night it will give out 5 beeps for apparently no reason. I have reset the system by disconnecting the alternate battery and have used a PocketScan Plus to test the systems which shows no problems.

Need to identify this noise? After starting the car after sitting overnight or anytime the engine is cold it makes this sound when shifted into gear. You can hear the sound dissipate and eventually go away but it has me worried.

Non mechanical squeaking noise coming from rear passenger side cabin area. Only appears to happen under 75 percent or so acceleration and slightly heavy braking. Sounds like an electrical squeal intermittent under the above conditions.

My 2010 Prius V just past the 24000km mark. I have a buzzing noise coming from the engine bay during startup. It happens when the interior fan is on. You can hear it clearly after you start the car, during the silence of the "boot up", before the ICE kicks in. I can't be sure if it continues to buzz after that because the sound of the ICE drowns it out. However, If I shut off the fan during the boot up, the buzz disappears. Finally, if I leave the fan off and start the car, there is no buzz.
During a recent oil change, a hybrid technician claims that this is normal. It used to happen infrequently but now it is consistent, so if it was normal, I should have heard it when the car was new.

I have a 2009 Gen III T Spirit. Recently, and I think following the recent reflash, I have been getting an extra noise on cold startup. It is a scratching noise that lasts just a couple of seconds about 4 or 5 seconds after pressing the start button. I have tried to attach a short recording but cannot upload an mp3 file so have made it into a zip file.
I have checked whether it is radio by removing fuses 8 and 28 and have also switched off the heater fan, both without any effect.

Twice during the 6 months that we have owned our 2010 Prius, a loud clattering noise from under the hood occurred upon startup. After shutting it down and restarting, all was normal. It sounded like an engine that was getting ready to throw a connecting rod. The dealer could find nothing wrong and when I contacted Toyota's hot line, they were clueless as well. One service writer suggested the ABS as the source, but I've owned 5 other cars with ABS and never heard anything like it.

My 2012 Elantra has been nothing but problems. Unfortunately, with me being away from home in the USA, I haven't been able to bring it to my dealership. Lately, I've noticed that the acceleration of my E sounds different with the A/C on. It's more noticeable right when I hit the throttle that the engine engages, and power goes to the wheel. The sound is a deep more drone like sound, and is only there when my A/C is on.

I have a strange (musky) smell coming from my air vents when i turn on the air. I was told by the dealer that this could be mold growing inside the vents because I use the AC a lot. Is there any cure for this besides going to the dealer? they told me that they can partial get rid of this by spraying a chemical into the vent but they cannot guarantee that it will work.

I noticed today that my prius with less than 5000 miles has a strange wheel squeek. It almost sounds like a warped rotor but I was really careful breaking it in. I cannot hear it at all with the windows up but with them down I hear it whenever the car is moving even when I am not braking. The strange thing is when I am moving very slowly the squeek is longer. It lasts 2-3 seconds between intervals when I am going like 1mph ot less and gradually the intervals shorten as I go faster. I could still detect it at like 30mph.

Just a couple of months ago, I bought a 2010 RX350 CPO, and the car seems to have developed a strange issue. When I brake and come to a stop, it sounds almost like a choo-choo train coming from the back of the car. That's the best way I can describe it. A few thumps/chugs spaced apart as I am applying the brakes to come to a stop.
What this might be? Annoying that I already need to bring this in for service, but I suppose that's what I'll need to do. Would seem like a warranty issue, but either way, the dealer better take care of this without charge.

I put on my H&R Springs. Today was my first full day with them on and everything seemed fine. The ride is awesome - no complaints. Except, on the way home tonight in traffic I could hear a knocking noise. It seems to only happen around 30-35 mph. It doesn't produce over bumps or at highway speeds even if I hit construction. Only happens around the speeds I said and even then it comes and goes. I took a video to see if I could get it on it. You can hear it better on the video from my phone compared to the one that is uploaded to youtube. Listen carefully and you'll hear a knocking noise.

Its been really really hot lately here in SoCal and i noticed something weird. When my car is running with the AC ON I notice this vibration/buzzing from the car. I feel it on the brake and accelerator pedals too. It doesn't happen all the time but its pretty often. I can feel it more when im stopped at a red light. Is this normal?

I recently bought a new Elantra 2012, 2 months ago. While driving it during the first month, I heard a strange vibrating noise. I went to the dealer, since it's under warranty until 2019, and they told me that when Hyundai did their recall on their Engines, the head gasket was constructed wrong and they just had to order another head to fix it.
Fast-forward two weeks and I finally got my car back. At first, it's perfect! No noise or anything, but about a week later, yesterday, it starts to make the noise again.
For my second noise, I know it's the brakes. They squeak when I stop, even though the company I bought the car from is not allowed to sell brakes >50%, I'm assuming they did anyway. The problem I have with this is that yesterday, while on the highway, the breaks made the squealing noise regardless if I was braking or not. As long as the car was in motion, it made noise. Should I be concerned about this?

The other morning I went out to the garage and heard a strange noise coming from the rear (underneath the 3rd row seating/storage area) of my GX460. It sounded like a pump or something running continuously. I was in the garage for 10 minutes and the noise had started before I entered the garage and continued after I left. When I went back out to the garage 3-4 hours later it had stopped so I am not certain how long it was running for. I previously owned a 2006 GX470 with the rear air suspension and this was not the sound that was coming from my new GX. The car had not been running or driven in over 8 hours and I am at a loss as to what it could be. I figured I would check here first before delving into the 700+ page owners manual to troubleshoot.

I have a 2010 F-150 FX4 SC 4x4 5.4l w/ automatic that has 52,000 miles on the clock give or take, unmodified with the only exception of a remote oil filter relocation unit.
I bought the truck with 48,000 on it and did not have this noise, I've had it back to the dealer and their best mechanic went for a ride with me and the noise was duplicated and the mechanic had the deer in the headlight look on his face and said he'd never heard anything like that before. I've searched the net for anything similar like this but have not found anything. The noise rears it's ugly head after the truck is warmed up and it first started around 55mph and went away at 65mph , then re-emerged at 75mph and left again at 82mph.
Tried the usual test things while noise was present first loading and unloading the steering left and right, (wheel bearing) no change. Next I applied the brakes (caliper rubbing) no change. Then I tried shifting to neutral (transmission or carrier bearing) no change. I also tried shifting into and out of 4x4 (transfer case) no change. If I speed up above those speeds or slow down below them, the noise disappears.
Recently... the noise seems to be more consistent and when it's present at 80mph and you let off the throttle, the noise is present all the way down to 55mph then magically goes away. The noise to me sounds like a vacuum leak in a rubber hose or a dry spinning shaft in a bushing, sort of a low hum that sounds like it's coming anywhere from the motor to the transmission area.

I have noticed that if I push gas pedal while turning the corner, especially if starting to go uphill, there is significant vibration felt in the gas pedal. It happens every time, as I use the same road each day, for 6 months now. I recently had a rental prius for a weeks, and had the same experience, although not as pronounced as my car.
