Second owner of my 2010 IV and I see where there's a few dried up drips on the inside of my radio display (stock non-GPS unit) and while it's not the kind of thing that keeps me up at night, if others have had this too and found an easy way to address it, I will too.
View 4 RepliesAside from spending $ to have the polarity reversed on the HVAC display, is there anything be done to darken the display letters and numerals? In the daylight this thing is unreadable. Very poor design by Toyota. Any little tricks that I don't know about?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2010 Corolla (purchased December of '09) and just recently the radio has started acting up. Since it got cold last year, it seems after long periods with the heater on, the radio unit display will go haywire. Today, the display did the same thing after my car sat in the sun for a couple of hours (and it was pretty warm inside). Obviously it doesn't make any sense to me, but I thought the display was trying to tell me that it's "too hot" Buttons on the unit will intermittently malfunction as well.
For example, hitting "2" will turn the unit off, pressing another preset number will switch the radio from FM to AM. Keeping the unit off while driving doesn't seem to fix the issue - but it does correct itself after a while.
I just bought a 2010 SD for my new hunting truck and the radio light doesn't work. Is there a setting on the radio to shut off the light? I don't have a manual and the menu button is of course dark? the radio works but you can't see any time of channel, and the dimmer of the interior lights doesn't change a thing.
View 7 RepliesI noticed today shortly before turning off the car that the screen was lagging. Sometimes there was not even response. Radio turned on and off ok, but screen was not showing it. It would then display (after several seconds) the info, display, and audio. However, when I clicked the Climate one, the MFD said, "Check the condition to the air conditioner." However, when I used the driver's controls, it worked okay.
I then turned off the car, and when I turned it back on, everything appeared to be normal. The screen was significantly lagging.
Might this be an issue with the air conditioning itself. I mostly run the A/C on full blast on the MAX cold (sometimes Auto (LO temp, HI fan)). Temperature in the output vent (left center one) after 5-10 minutes: 48 degrees moving. Outside temperature between 100 and 110, so it's pretty hot too.
Found a simple fix for unlit radio control buttons, cd player opening and center display buttons while the parking/headlight switch is turned on. As it turns out, if the wire connector directly behind the dimmer switch wheel located to the left of the steering wheel is accidentally disconnected, you will not have any backlight for your in dash cd player opening, radio control buttons or your emergency hazard flasher button.
The simple fix is to first remove the left side silver/gray plastic vent cover which is located directly to the left of your dimmer control knob. Place one hand on the top of the vent cover and the second hand at the bottom the vent cover and firmly pull directly out. Second step is to pull towards you the miniature dash panel that the dimmer switch wheel is mounted to.
The arrow tip guide on the miniature dash panel will pull away from 2 guide slots mounted to the main dash panel. Third step is to reconnect the disconnected white male plug to the back of the dimmer switch wheel's female connector. Last step is to push back the miniature dimmer switch wheel's dash panel until it snaps back in place, then snap back in place the silver/gray plastic vent cover until it clicks back in place.
I have slightly over 1000 on my new Prius and have been resetting the Trip Counter A at the last couple fill-ups. But the display doesn't show the MPG. How can this be fixed?
View 4 RepliesAny technical difference between turning the ECO diplay "on" or "off" when setting display options? I know when "off", the ECO sign does not show but does it also mean the car runs differently? Is this just a way to avoid having that thing show up?
View 10 RepliesMy energy display wont lid. Car starts and runs without any "check engine" codes and warning light. At Toyota dealer they couldn't explain which ECU is related with energy display. Which fuse is in charge of this display?
View 10 RepliesI am a new owner and still try to figure out how to display MPG on my Prius. I am not sure how to do that. i can see after shut down the engine, the display show mpg and cost and millage... I am not sure how to re-display that? or if i can show the mpg from reset to reset?
View 4 RepliesI can use the wheel to dim during the daytime but can only dim can't turn off the display like I can at night. I've tried turning the lights on and adjusting the wheel but still can turn off all the way.
I would like to turn it off and just use the HUD.

just purchased my 2010 IV a few weeks ago and have noticed some smudges on the display where you get your graph for fuel economy. I had thought they were just finger prints and they would wipe right off. Come to find out they seem to be smudges behind the plexiglass. How they could have gotten there. It's a little annoying and I would live to clean it up. The smudges are most noticeable on the right side towards the top of the graph with a smaller smudge on the left side, also towards the top of the display.
View 10 RepliesDuring a recent vacation, while driving at night, the MPH display went black. I completed the drive to the hotel, resolving to change the fuse in the morning. When I started the car in the morning, the display was still black. I checked the fuse I thought should be involved (#22), but it was good. The MPG / MPG screen was still bad. Not wanting to drive an additional 400 miles back home without a speedometer, I called the closest dealership to get an appointment. The 2010 has 33K miles on it .
When we packed up and started the car for the trip to the dealer, everything was working. One week later and all is good. I plan on getting this anomaly recorded with Toyota just in case it happens again after the warrantee runs out.
The small LCD display (Int temp, fan speed, etc.) in my Prius IV with Nav Package is very dark, read "unreadable" when sunlight is prominent in the car. This is so even with the panel rheostat turned all the way up to bright. Is this a faulty display or is there any work around if not?
View 8 RepliesRefer the attached picture and its visible, that it has some moisture marks inside the display, its is there for long time more than 1 year, ( only on the left side block of the display). How to get rid of it?
View 4 RepliesMy last fillup was for 9.539G and I had 501 miles on that tank (I had reset the Trip B display after my prior fill-up). This calculates to 52.52 MPG. Yet the trip B display had said I was getting between 55.5 MPG.
This has happened every time I've calculated my mileage, I'm not getting quite the MPG that the dashboard display says I am getting. It overstates my mileage by 3-4 MPG.
Went to a meeting one evening last week with my 2010 Prius, everything working well. After the meeting we drove away and noticed that most of the dash display was "dark". Driving home and feeling a little gloom as I wondered what it might cost to fix the display problem.
I noticed the poster announcing the meeting we attended was laying on the dash and was pushed up to the display screen. I pulled the poster back an inch and the display came back on !! Pushed it forward and when it got within 1/2 inch of the display, it would blank out ??
It appears the dash display is some sort of bottom projection system to the display screen. Pushing anything up to the display screen blocks that bottom projection and blanks the screen.
I am trying to figure out how to turn on this display for the odometer. Surely this wasn't designed to only show avg consumption for trips right?
View 12 RepliesI've backed out of my garage the last few mornings and attempted to use the EV mode and have had a message on the display that reads "EV mode is unavailable at this time" or something to that effect. BTW, the traction battery is at normal charge, about 62%. ????
View 19 RepliesI just bought a 2010 Prius V and noticed the energy display is blurry and cloudy. I've read some other thread with others experiencing this issue but didn't find a solution to the problem. It seem to be blurry on the inside part of the display, nothing that can be cleaned off from the outside.
