View 17 Replies2006 ~80K miles. Occasional beep sounds, once accompanied by lcd screen displaying word "PROBLEM." I stopped switching off vehicle. Next time when turned on it behaved normally, but I am spooked that something major will happen. Owners' manual doesn't show anything. What is the most likely interpretation?

View 6 RepliesI am having a gen 3 prius and yesterday when I am driving on a humpy road.(village side road) i got this message on the prius hybrid indicator screen, with orange color engine light and orange color triangle warning light. But still i can drive the vehicle and it charge the hybrid battery and everything going OK. I got really got fuel economy too after getting the warning message. Only thing is the message is appearing every time at the screen, What should i do now.
View 5 RepliesI purchased a 04 V8 with 22K miles. Very nice ride and huge upgrade from a Grand Cherokee. After noticing slow cranking, I took it by a dealer where we tested the battery. Electronics and battery tested OK. Dealer advised to lock the doors at night when parked in my garage.
I am still having slow cranking, and now experiencing the Traction Control module flashing and error message on the screen. ( It will disappear after I restart in a few minutes.) I am also experiencing a message that the computer is shutting down the consumer electronics.
Alternator showing 13.75-14 volts at first start up, returns to 13+ volts after 15 minutes. Cables, poor battery? I want it to start after sitting at the airport for several days.
A mechanic at the Lexus dealer showed me how to reset (remove) the oil change warning message on the gps screen. It has something to do with pushing the A/B odometer buttons when the engine is not running. Unfortunately I did not write it down nor do I remember it.
View 10 RepliesI have had a 2002 Prius since December of 2012, and it has been running fine since I got it; while it was in a wreck in May 2013 that has rendered both passenger-side doors and windows unusable, I have not seen that incident cause any other problems, and the car still runs perfectly fine. I am supposed to be driving from my current home state for a job soon, but about a week ago while I was driving on the interstate, the check engine light started flashing.
I was changing lanes and putting a good bit of pressure on the gas in order to pass someone that was going below the speed limit, putting my speed at around 80 mph when the check engine light started flashing. I started getting off of the interstate to find a place to stop and inspect things, but the light stopped flashing when I got down to around 45 mph on the exit ramp, and I was able to drive the rest of the way on the interstate without any trouble, even when I got in the 75 mph range again. The span of time between the light starting to flash and turning off again was probably about a minute or so.
I always try to save gas in my Prius so I hit the Ev button whenever I'm in the target parking lot. Overall my Fuelly is 51.9 mpg. Today when I got into the car I hit my Ev button and it said "battery too low". Do you think my car is starting to have problems? I also hit the power control a lot too.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2012 PIP (assume same technology as non-PIP Gen 3s?). I paired my Galaxy S3 phone with the PIP and when my phone receives a text message, I get the prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text message to me. I then paired my wife's iPhone4 to the car, but when she gets a text, there's no prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text. Where should I start troubleshooting this?
View 2 RepliesI've got an 01 that I recently bought with bad batteries. I replaced the 12V and the hv batteries, and all the codes cleared out. The gas gauge was flashing 1 bar and I got the message to add fuel. I first put 1 gallon in thinking at least the gauge should stop blinking. When it didn't, I added 2 more gallons. Still no change. After pulling the rear seat to look for the sending unit, we dropped the tank only to find that it's not replaceable!
View 4 RepliesToday, I get in my prius (05, 106K miles, nav) the "CD ERROR" message. I can't get it to do anything with the CDs, though it will give some strange flashing when holding the eject buttons.
View 1 RepliesI have a very strange issue with the car, it started last week once the weather had cooled down. Over a 3 day period when starting to drive the car from a cold start, after 30 secs, the following 3/4 things would happen.
The master warning light starts flashing with beeping
Message on the console 'Warning Key Detected'
Interior front courtesy light comes on for a few moments then goes off.
This continues until you stop the car. Turn it off. Wait then start again. Once going again it happens all over again. Until the car is warmed up, then it stops completely.
So I got my car today (2005) and I love it! I have some questions about it. When I was driving back from the dealership, I was watching the energy screen. The temperature was about 28F and it was mostly highway driving between 65-75 MPH.
During the drive, I kept noticing the yellow arrows flashing on for 500mS, then go off, then come back on in a few seconds. I wasn't able to keep the yellow arrows on consistently. There didn't seem to any sequence to it, it just seemed random. The battery never dropped below 7 bars except when I was going slow and it was always green when I was going slow. Also, the only time the battery went to 8 bars was when I braked hard and that was one time.
I would have thought the car would have used more of the battery to assist but at the same time my MPG was over 50 (51.1 to be exact) so I'm thinking this is normal. Is it?
After coming back from a two week vacation, I tried to start my 2002 sedan toyota prius; and it would not start. The master warning light came on, and then on the screen, the third icon (the farthest right) was blinking in red, it was an outline of a car with an exclamation mark in the middle of it. It does the same thing each time I try to jump it. However, at the same time, after jumping it, the battery seems to be fine, meaning that the display and radio start up fine, but soon after cranking the key, the engine seems to shut off. I bought the car used, so I don't have an owners manual or anything of that sort.
View 1 RepliesCurrently working on a friends 2011 Prius with roughly ~340,000 miles (!!!!!) that was used as a taxi, until now, he bought it from the taxi company and converted it his own daily.
I did a regular oil change on his Prius, and decided to change the spark plugs as at the time there was some sort of occasional shaking/rattle at cold startups. The shaking was gone after changing the spark plugs. This was all done back in March. Yesterday, he was driving, and all of a sudden, the knocking came back, a check engine light, and white like cloud smoke appear. Check Engine lights were P0300, P0301, P0303 (misfire cylinder). I told him to bring it over, I took a look, and his invertor engine coolant was all the way down (he told me he filled it up to top just two weeks ago). I originally thought maybe it was the ignition coils (for shaking), but the white smoke didn't make sense. So I purposely filled the coolant above the full line, and took it out to drive for about half a mile, and just as I suspected when I opened the hood, the coolant level decreased, at least by an inch.
I did not see any oil leaks, and the oil levels were just fine. The car just seems to shake/rattle at startup and when accelerating at low speeds (roughly 8 - 15 MPH) and than goes away, and drives normally. It still does blow off that white/cloud smoke when accelerating hard on the engine though. As for the smell of the smoke, I can't really tell, it is definitely not sweet, but it kind of smells foul/bad.
At this point, I am pretty sure this engine is gone, and the gasket/seal is blown.
I just changed the battery in my 07 Camry with factory installed navigation system and now my whole radio/navigation system is DEAD.
I ejected and reinstalled DVD in NAV system and it has no effect. The ON/OFF button on radio does not turn radio on. Error message on screen is 'No DVD - Please insert MAP DVD. I have checked the radio fuse and it is OK.
This morning I switched my radio from my favorite FM news station to Siriusxm in the middle of my commute, and I got the message "Initializing" on the screen. I was getting the last station I had selected, but I couldn't turn the volume up or switch stations. FM/AM/Media all work just fine. I turned the radio off, turned the car off, no luck.
View 6 Replies I am having some difficulties with the stereo in my 03 W12.
Suddenly it stopped working.
When i press the cd button - I get a message that says that there is no cd player avaliable. When i press the radio button - I cant see any stations and there is no sound.
Those that do their own maintenance, how do you get rid of that Oil Maintence Due Soon message that pops up when you start your Prius?
View 10 RepliesAbout two weeks ago I saw some moisture under the odometer screen. . I went to the dealer, the dealer said it is chemicals and will not be under toyota's warranty. what ever it is , I think it should be under warranty since it is under two layers of glasses, if it is not toyota's fault, how can it get there.
View 1 RepliesI just bought a 2013 prius 4 with the solar roof package this past weekend. I researched this car for a long time and love it so far!
I can't figure out how to make the screen brighten and dim when it's day/night. And my "default/home" screen is the navigation screen. I've managed to get it to split with my audio screen but I'd love my main screen to JUST be my audio screen and only view the navigation screen when I'm utilizing the navigation.
