No audible sound but a definite jerk. I will be cruising along at 40, the car running in EV mode, and then the engine turns on & the car momentarily "nudges" backwards (change in acceleration) before resuming its normal smooth operation.
View 13 RepliesJust hooked up my SGII to my new Prius, and it won't stay on. It seems that every time the ICE turns off and the RPM's go to zero, it thinks I'm parking and it powers down after the 10 seconds or so. I know this is what it's doing because if the ICE stays on, the SGII stays on just like it used to in my RAV4.
View 6 RepliesIt seems like the fan that cools the hybrid battery pack turns on quite often, almost everyday after two or three hours of driving. I heard it once or twice on my '05, but on this one I hear it pretty much everyday.
View 19 RepliesJust installed DDM HID 35w 5000K. But strange issue. If I turn on HID first before start the car, one side turns off by itself in few seconds every single time. However, HID (both sides) stay on fine everytime (so far ) if I start the car first then turn headlight on. Could it be bad ballast or else?
View 11 RepliesI have a 2010 Santa Fa GLS. 88K miles. This issue started in the last 6 months, once the engine turns over the RPM drop low and starts to putter as if it is not getting enough fuel. If push down the gas when starting it works. Once it passes the first 2 -3 seconds everything is fine. No issue idling or driving. What this could be? It's not an issue with Starter, Battery, my best guess would be a sensor, leaky fuel injector.
View 1 RepliesI have this Prius involve in a wreck on the driver side. Ever since the wreck the hold beeps continuously, "Check Hybrid system turns on". I drove it couple of time every things was fine ( see the video) now nothing comes on. After the wreck I had to jump every time I wanted to start, but now nothing even after multiple jumping attempt, the battery used to die because the brake like always stays on and as soon as I start the car the horn keeps on being non stop.

I realized that the car was having trouble shifting from battery to engine and engine to battery and once the battery runs out the car shuts off and when I start it again it starts in engine mode and charges the battery..
View 7 RepliesWe have noticed something strange with the dash in our new 2012 Prius. While driving at dusk and turning the headlights on the dash readout can go completely dark. Leaving only the gear selection indicator visible. This can be completely disorienting and dangerous. This happens if the dimmer wheel is set in the lowest position. It will turn back on if the dimmer wheel is moved up from the lowest setting.
I can recreate the issue parked by simply having the headlights on and dimming the switch all the way down. It will shut off the speedometer, MPGmeter, and Hyrbrid indicator screens.
The Prius engine turns on/off automatically, so miles driven do not correlate to "Engine" miles. Thus, it makes sense to me that somewhere there should be access to "Engine hours". My diesel truck even offers this feature. Does this data is recorded and available??
View 6 RepliesI still have my 2004 Prius which currently has 264,xxx miles. The car runs very well (at least I think it does). I have always maintained it beyond what was required. Anyway, it has been very, very hot lately in south Florida (high 90's plus 50% humidity) so I do not know if that has anything to do with my problem. I have noticed that after I have driven the car for a while the engine periodically turns itself on when I am at a stoplight even though the battery shows practically full (full blue). The engine will continue to stay on until I resume driving. I have the AC on full blast as it is needed to keep the cabin cool. Otherwise, the car seems to be performing satisfactorily.

View 7 RepliesStarted my 2010 gen 3 Prius 3 the other day and got a bunch of what I thought was engine clatter and the check engine light came on.
The next time I started it, no noise. Anyways brought it to dealer and they diagnosed it and ordered a new manifold.
The next day when the part arrived, I brought in the car. Talked to the mechanic, a great guy, and he explained what happened. Apparently, the clatter is actually the springs rattling in the clutch mechanism of the starter motor/electric motor and not the valves like I thought.
I have an Elantra 2013, the issue that I face is that when I turn OFF the A/C, the recirculation turns off by itself which I don't want as it will allow dust to accumulate through the open vents when the Car is parked overnight.
So each time I turn off the a/c, I need to press the recirculation button as well so I can turn off the car with recirculation ON. Doesn't happen in other cars..
When I turn the fan on, the sound I get from the vent is *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* as the fan turns. Does the whole dashboard has to come out fix it? I am hesitant to bring it to the dealer & have him rip the whole thing apart just for the fan ticking, but it sure is annoying too. It started about 6 months ago here.

I have the push button start and it works well.. no problems there.. but I noticed there is a small light on the button and it never turns on.. even at night. The font itself which reads "Start/Stop the engine" does glow blue at night or when the lights are turned on..
We purchased a used 2010 Journey in May. In early June, we found that when running errands in the heat, at about the third errand the car won't start. It will kind of chug chug, turns over, but doesn't catch. We took it in once and they rewired the starter. (someone had wired with with a piece of extension cord?). Then, a couple weeks later took it in for a new starter. Still does it. BUT, I think I figured out that when you wiggle the gear shift (Automatic) while in Park, it will start. It may take a few times, but it started for me twice this way.
View 13 RepliesExperienced engine oil went dry after about 5000 miles after an oil change? This happened to me for the past 10k miles. I mean when you pull the dip stick out there is no oil in it. I guess I was lucky my engine didn't knock. There is no evidence of any leak on the engine, no oil found in my garage floor either.
Right now the dealer is doing an "Oil Consumption study" on my car. They want me to return after 1,200 miles to recheck the oil.
2010 Prius III 75,230 miles
all oil change done at 10,000 miles intervals (except for the last 10,000 - oil change @ 70,000 miles and again at 74,895 miles due to engine oil being dry)
all scheduled maintenance intervals are done thru the dealer @ 5,000 miles intervals
I am trying to determine if my Auto climate is woking correctly. I have 2012 RX350 with NAV.
I believe when I first got the car that when the Auto button was pressed, the AC light (in the climage screen) came on, and was always on. It could only be turned off by powering the fan speed to zero.
However, I now have this situation:
- Auto A/C Mode On (in custum settings)
Climate control is in manual mode with AC light on.....when I press Auto the A/C light turns off (cannot be turned on by repeated presses of auto)
- Auto A/C Mode Off (in custom settings)
Climate control is in manual mode .....when I press Auto the A/C light stays in current condition either on or off.
Summary: pressing Auto no longer turns on the A/C switch (and I believe it used to)
My carmy had run for 82000 miles now, and never had a problem til now. When I start the car, the "check engine light" turns on. When I go driving, after 2 seconds the car slip warning light turns on.
Both warning lights keep on blinking all the time. Here's a photo of the warning lights: [URL] .... I mean the photo at the row in the middle, with the car sign on it.
2010 LE 4cylinder... Turning right has no noise, turning left of center gives a rumbling noise. Looked under the car for any damage or steering leakage and found nothing. Just 30K on the car still looks like new under there.
I could not find any steering problems in the stickies for this gen Camry. I could not find any TSB about this either...
