tried to set temp at 22c to 24c, outside temp was 18c, but no heat, nor warm air came out from the vent. cold air all the way (at least 30 minutes drive).
set it to 30c and higher, then I can feel the hot air.
i just found out from here the prius's heater performance is not good. but that bad?
is it normal or should i bring it back to toyota to look at it?
Recently I noticed that I still have hot air coming through the vents with the climate control system completely off. I can tell that the fan is off because it's not blowing through the vents but the vents are very hot.

With most cars this would usually point to a faulty thermostat but I'm not sure on a Prius. I checked the coolant level and it's fine. I don't hear any gurgling in the dash so I'm guessing there's no air in the system.
The vents in my 2002 Prius are starting to become problematic. When I turn on the heat, the air is not coming out. When I hit the glove compartment, the air starts to come out, but it is very low and stops after a minute or two. I just want to know if the blower motor is dying, and how to replace it, if it is really the blower.

And this is Winter!! I was driving for about 20 mins and still...No Hot air...vents are blowing cold (cool) air.
I recently changed my condenser/radiator but I did NOT fill my condensor with the A/C gas yet. (could that be the problem?) But isn't the gas inside condenser is for A/C and not for the Hot air??
Any other stuff that I need to check to solve this problem?? (harness, fuse etc.?) It's cold outside and my car has NO HEAT!
I have had my Prius for a few weeks now and have noticed a very strong smell of petrol when I have the vents open to heat the car (without AC). It seems to only happen when the fan is on and vents open. What could cause this and should I be concerned?
View 19 RepliesI have a '06 2.0T Auto, and the first cold day since I purchased the car was a week ago (I live in North FL) and turned on the heat, to find out that little to no heat was getting let out, so I brought it to my local guy, and said that the thermostat was probably stuck open, so he replaced the thermostat and housing for a couple hoses , and tested out the heat just now (55 degrees out), have it on 80 degrees and full blast, and still nothing. Also, usually I hear the cooling fan kick on after I shut off the car for about 5-10 secs, but haven't heard it since its not 90+ out. Its in the 70s.
View 6 RepliesHaving problem of not getting any heat from the vents of the car? The fan works and more than likely it isn't the Thermostat. The engine also heats up normally, it's just that the air the blows out of the vents does not get hot anymore and it's getting to be fall.
View 1 RepliesI have a strange problem with the air circulation in my 2010 prius. The vents are stuck in one position. When I try to go to different mode (windshield, floor, etc) it doesn't do anything.
This happened when I was alternating between windshield and other modes to get small parts of glass from the vents (car had a windshield damage due to a "meeting" with a deer). Anyway, I don't know what could be wrong.
Is there a motor that overheated (due to constant switching of modes)? Is there a piece of glass blocking the system from switching?
I took my Prius Two to its first car wash today, afterwards, the air flow from the vents became minimal, almost non-existent. How could this be? The car is barely two months old. Prior to the car wash, I had the AC and air blasting to the highest, I didn't change any fan settings, and now there's barely any air coming out. I can hear the fans churning and running, but there's no air!!! Do I take it to the dealer?
View 2 RepliesI have a strange (musky) smell coming from my air vents when i turn on the air. I was told by the dealer that this could be mold growing inside the vents because I use the AC a lot. Is there any cure for this besides going to the dealer? they told me that they can partial get rid of this by spraying a chemical into the vent but they cannot guarantee that it will work.
View 19 RepliesI have a uk 2010 t4. The air con only works on the passenger left and centre left. From the RHS vents its just unrefrigerated. Ie -7c on the left vents and 0 ish in the right vents.
So when you start the car on a warm day you end up with actually hot air on the RHS and cold on the left (!)
About a month ago i bought a tier 3 with nav, black with dark grey interior. Completely happy with the purchase overall but the car has a few odd quirks that may or may not be normal....
vents- always seem to be open. A breeze goes through them even with the fans off. Are these supposed to (internally) close when fans are off?
The other morning I started my car up and no heat or air would come out of my vents. The night before I had to drive through a blizzard and my car was completely packed with snow. The climate controls function normally, everything is lighting up when i select a button, but no air is coming out of the vents (rear defrost and seat warmers work fine). There is no sound of the blower starting when I turn the air on, hot or cold. I live in Northeast Ohio so we currently have several inches of snow and it's well below freezing outside. I live in an apartment so my car is outside 24/7 between being here and at work. I looked up a bunch of posts on here and other websites to try to figure it out. I ended up taking my cabin filter out and it is completely packed with snow. So i vacuumed out the snow that was left in the cabin filter housing as far as i could reach. I also unpacked as much snow as possible from wheel wells seeing as the HVAC vent goes to there, and the blower still doesn't work.
What I am guessing, which I could be completely wrong, is that the HVAC vent is completely packed with snow and it's not letting the blower turn. I guess my question is does that seem remotely possible or is it something else completely? My climate control doesn't work on the highest setting so I don't think its the relay I read about and my heater has been working fine with no noises or anything and I don't believe it would just go bad out of the blue.

View 4 RepliesI was driving today with no music on and noticed something strange. I heard something "roasting" in the backseat...and looks like the noise comes from the battery vents. It sounds more like "roasting" noise than fan noise. Do you know if the battery was overheating?
View 7 RepliesI've got a 1997 528i with 285,000 KMS...the radiator, water pump and thermostat have all been replaced (within the last 2 years). The temperature outside has dipped to -15 C and I am now experiencing a problem with the inside cabin vents not blowing hot air through the vents. The car warms ups and the temp needle pins to 12 o`clock without any problems.
The vents blow cold air at idle (with temp needle at 12 o`clock) and them warm air when driving the vehicle. I have checked coolant level-it`s o.k, the fan speed setting ( hi and low) work fine, and the wheel located at the middle of the dash vents can be adjusted fine ( red and blue)...I have tried turning off and on the unit, adjusted temp setting up and down and tried to turn the wheel slowly (blue to red) but still not giving off heat as it should.
Snap, crackle and pop sound coming from the vents in the front and rear when the heat is on. It sounds like rice krispies with milk.
View 4 RepliesThe heater fan runs fine. Cold air comes out of all the vents (defroster, floor, dash). There is plenty of coolant in the system, and my mechanic advises the engine is running at the correct temperature. The heater hoses at the firewall are warm/hot as if coolant is flowing through. Flushed the heater core (but that didn't fix the problem). My mechanic now wants to drill some holes in the duct work to see if there is a mouse nest or some other obstruction.
View 3 RepliesI noticed a few months ago I wasn't getting much heat from my 99 Passat. I had the cooling system flushed and checked. Still no heat even after having all this done. Not long afterwords I started noticing that sweet smell through the vents, but couldn't find any leaks. I checked the expansion tank and it seemed to be slightly low so I added some coolant just to top it off and there it was. Steam started rolling up from the drivers side where the coolant had dripped on the exhaust and that's when I found the leak. I took the screws out that hold the tank to the bracket and discovered the leak coming from a short tube that appears to connect to nothing leaking coolant. Now here's my question, is the tank suppose to have a hole in it ? I thought it was suppose to be pressurized. What I don't figure is why didn't the shop notice it when they were refilling the system.
View 9 RepliesThis can be heard at low speed. two to three bars on the blower speed indicator. It sound like running water. It is not the air conditioner when the compressor in on.
I can not listen to the radio all the time..... when it is peace time, radio is turned off. It sounds like the bearing is going. Had it looked at and was told that it is normal. The DC motor is suppose to be quiet?
