I removed one of the cd's out of the dash unit and the nav display screen remains opened and won't close. I tried turning the vehicle off and on, nothing happened, so then I attempted to remove the 2nd cd that was in the changer and it slides out, but immediately slides back in.
View 4 RepliesWent to a meeting one evening last week with my 2010 Prius, everything working well. After the meeting we drove away and noticed that most of the dash display was "dark". Driving home and feeling a little gloom as I wondered what it might cost to fix the display problem.
I noticed the poster announcing the meeting we attended was laying on the dash and was pushed up to the display screen. I pulled the poster back an inch and the display came back on !! Pushed it forward and when it got within 1/2 inch of the display, it would blank out ??
It appears the dash display is some sort of bottom projection system to the display screen. Pushing anything up to the display screen blocks that bottom projection and blanks the screen.
Just picked up my 2012 Model Five w/ ATP. Love it (more details to come), but it seems to require too much touch screen action that could better be accomplished through voice recognition. The nav screen always seems to jump back to map display after I've finished an audio transaction. Any way to just keep the audio screen in place until I select the map display? I don't like having to go back to audio to change stations. Also, the nav voice instructions are sometimes only useful for part of the trip. Is there any way to squelch the voice while driving without going into setup and using the touch screen? Answers are probably in the manual but I haven't found them so far.

Not only that but since the door will not shut, on my dash screen it keeps saying "Refill Ready" every 5-10 seconds.
When I open the trunk using the lever to the left of the driver's seat the trunk will open but will not latch close again.
I can open the trunk using the key or the Key FOB.
The lever in the passenger's compartment does not return to it normal down position. Upon examination of the latch itself, it appears operational with all parts moving freely when disconnected from everything else.
There is a spring-loaded cable return mechanism that is supposed to return the trunk latch and the cable to their initial positions. I have to physically move the spring loaded mechanism by hand in a counter-clockwise direction to get the mechanisms to return to their starting positions.
I think that this indicates that there is either a bind in the cable or that the lever in the driver's compartment is faulty.
Do I have to disassemble the interior of the car to check/change the cable and/or the lever mechanism? Are there any posted instructions on how to do this?
My prick of a husband punched the lcd screen in our 08 prius and the display cracked. We can't install it ourselves, so buying the parts secondhand and installing them ourselves is not an option.
View 7 RepliesI am due to make a 400 mile round trip business trip today. Go out and start the car, and the screen display is black. The MFD. None of the buttons on it work, either - I have the beep ON, no beep. I turned it off, waited about 1 minute and tried again, still nothing. Went for a short drive (took the dogs to the park where they can run), it was off for about 35 minutes. Still nothing for the short drive back home. I mean short, this is less than 2 miles one way.
I can still access the a/c and the radio from the steering wheel. I can see my speed, fuel etc, that is fine. It is just the display monitor. This came out of the blue, I have not noticed any issues at all.
Any way to see my iPhone 5 screen on the display of the car? I love the big screen mote than the tiny iPhone 5 screen.

The 2nd hand multi-information display panel is from a 2004 RX330 and what are the socket behind the display panel meant for.

I went to turn my 2005 on today the normal startup screen came on then it went dark for about 5 secs then came on with the normal consumption display but with no readings. Also there is no radio memory and I can't see volume control or radio tuning. Any way to reset the system? Here is what I mean by no readings...

The Navigation touch screen does not work. I can still us controls on the steering wheel, bu the touch screen is dead. I am assuming that I just buy and install a new screen? Or could there be something else to trouble shoot?
View 6 RepliesI noticed today shortly before turning off the car that the screen was lagging. Sometimes there was not even response. Radio turned on and off ok, but screen was not showing it. It would then display (after several seconds) the info, display, and audio. However, when I clicked the Climate one, the MFD said, "Check the condition to the air conditioner." However, when I used the driver's controls, it worked okay.
I then turned off the car, and when I turned it back on, everything appeared to be normal. The screen was significantly lagging.
Might this be an issue with the air conditioning itself. I mostly run the A/C on full blast on the MAX cold (sometimes Auto (LO temp, HI fan)). Temperature in the output vent (left center one) after 5-10 minutes: 48 degrees moving. Outside temperature between 100 and 110, so it's pretty hot too.

View 4 RepliesOccasionally, right after I start the car, the HDD display screen will be dark for a minute or two, and then display the map. I can go to the other screens, like Audio or the setup screens, but the map and the backup camera screens are dark. The still-functional buttons are responsive as usual (no delays/hangs). When the map finally "wakes up", it behaves normally. I don't have to do anything other than wait for it to wake up. It does this about 10% of the time. I have tried to correlate this to something, but it seems totally random.
View 4 RepliesAfter coming back from a two week vacation, I tried to start my 2002 sedan toyota prius; and it would not start. The master warning light came on, and then on the screen, the third icon (the farthest right) was blinking in red, it was an outline of a car with an exclamation mark in the middle of it. It does the same thing each time I try to jump it. However, at the same time, after jumping it, the battery seems to be fine, meaning that the display and radio start up fine, but soon after cranking the key, the engine seems to shut off. I bought the car used, so I don't have an owners manual or anything of that sort.
