Today when I was driving home from work and getting off the Freeway the yellow triangle flashed and the MFD said "Low Engine Oil Pressure" and the car beeped. It was only on for a few seconds then went off. The off ramp was one of those looping ones and I was taking it pretty fast probably around 50 MPH but I have done that many times before...

The Quick Reference guide says /shows a reset switch located to the left of steering wheel . I can't seem to locate this. I have an '11 LTD but without navigation. Did they omit this switch on some models, or do I need a bigger flashlight ?
View 5 RepliesAs I was getting on the highway today, I heard a loud warning bell and my MFD displayed "Oil Pressure High. ENGINE OFF!". It lasted all of 5 seconds and then disappeared. Car seemed fine (other than the usual ticks and annoyances).
View 22 RepliesIt was very cold in the morning yesterday and my tire pressure warning light came on. I had a funny feeling that it was related to the temperature but it didn't ever go off so I called Toyota today and they said to drop by with it and they would check it out. On the way there after work I got rear-ended. So sad. I thought it was just the bumper but the hatch won't latch properly so they said they would have to 'pull something out...". It was going to be about $800 for a new bumper but now will be more. I'm going tomorrow to see their collision guys about a quote to fix it. My poor car. I have to admit that even with a dented bumper the car still looks good!!! I don't know how I'm going to manage for the two days it takes to get it fixed. I have to re-learn how to use one of those key things.
The Toyota service person told me that he had 14 cars in today alone to reset the tire pressure warning lights that came on because of the cold weather. He said my tire pressure was fine. Just my bumper needs a little work.
So I was driving home yesterday, drove fine for about 14mi. Then I got a oil pressure low warning light shut off engine. The engine sounded no weird noises or anything so I shut it off checked the oil and it was full and fairly clean. Started it back up sounded fine drove it almost all the way home and it came back on, again no noises and oil was full. I noticed though that it came on mostly coming to a stop or taking off when the rpms hit about 1500-1700.
So I went to the shop I work at and hooked a pressure gauge up and I got 15psi. At idle and 35psi. at 2000rpms. With the engine temp in the normal range. I got the spec from all data which only shows the spec for the 2000 rpm range no idle spec, which was 29psi-65psi I think. So it sounded like it was okay. So I went to advance got a new oil pressure switch it didn't work.
I have 2011 Prius Pck II. Racked up about 22k miles now is socal. Replaced one tire due to flat. From week 3, Ive had blinking tire pressure warning.. then it stays lit then goes away.
Dealer said they will reset and say the sensors are just sensitive. Well.. 22k miles of annoying problems continues to blink then stays lit, then goes away.
I think it is defected.. they don't want to admit it and replace for me.
I think my tire pressure warning light is malfunctioning. I check all the tires with different tire gauges and they are all showing around 40 psi. I reset the system by holding down the button and let the light flash 3 times after I check them. It is only sporadic and does not stay on unless one of the tires is low. I did have a loose valve stem, that I tightened myself. When it does this it seems to come on and flash before going off and does not stay on. Sometimes it stays on for a little while and then goes off. Could it be a bad sensor?

View 8 RepliesI am driving down the road and the TPMS light starts to blink - and then stays on. I looked in the manual and it says that "When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system." The resolution is to "Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer."
All my pressures, including the spare are how I have them set. I also made sure to re-set the TPMS button under the steering wheel to the new pressures and everything. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm kinda mad a sensor has failed though on a car that's less than one year old.
I am new to the prius 2010.
I filled up last week and I noticed that as soon as a single cell display in the fuel display part has some empty section like 3/4 fuel(single cell) the next day or after that that whole cell disappears without it showing that single cell as being empty.
Around which fuel cell, when displayed, is it important and recommended to fill up gas again, with one cell remaining or two etc.
Today morning when I started the engine my tire low pressure warning lighted up, blinked for about 30 seconds and is now ON. It happens every time I start the car. My tires are at 38 PSI ( just re checked)
I can't find anything in the manual that shows how to reset the damn warning light.
From the first day I bought my 2014 gx 460, my tire pressure warning is lit continuously. I checked all tire pressure even the spare tire and everything was wright.

View 48 Repliesthe indicator light is on because of the cold morning. All four tires are a few pounds low and I correct.
Back inside the vehicle, the indicator is still on! I get out to check the spare but, cannot because the valve stem is on top! And, my shirt is all dirty!
At home, I lower the spare and check/add air. Raise spare, put tools away. Now I know how to lower the spare.
Our basic Chevy vans at work let you know tire pressure in each of their four tires.
My 2010 Premier Mountaineer apparently has pressure sensors, because i am getting a warning on the dash. They were down about 4 lbs all the way around, so I topped em off. But, the warning still comes back.
View 9 RepliesWhen I bought a used camry 5 years ago and drove it on the highway, my front tire busted and damaged the fender cuz it had too much air!! I wonder if it shows high pressure on my 2010 gen III Prius v with ATP. I know that the tires are special on this v version but still I like to keep a slightly higher pressure in the front ones because the lane keep assist feature works better with higher tire pressure. Summer is coming up so that gets me worried what to do with tire pressures.

Page 774 of the owner's manual makes it sound like it is: "Your Lexus is equipped with a tire pressure warning system ...", but I do not see any reset switch anywhere on the lower right of the dash (page 21 of the manual). Normally the manual uses asterisks to denote options that may not be on a particular vehicle.

I've read other threads about a reset switch in the first generation GX, so is there that same switch in the second generation GX? And if so, where is it? Can't find anything in the manual about it.
View 3 RepliesSo last week I got my new smf flywheel installed but it wasn't without issue. While putting everything back together, somehow the plastic side to side shift lever broke. I had already ordered a sigma six shifter so I had them put it in.
Now I picked up my car and had a lot of trouble putting it into first, and ended up in third several times. So after about a mile or two I pulled into a gas station to check it out. While turning at a very slow speed within the gas station, I got a warning on the mfi screen that said something like "low oil pressure! Engine off!"
The engine didn't cut off and the warning went away after a second.
I drive the rest of the way home since everything seemed fine besides the shifter. I checked the oil at home and the dipstick was dry! I couldn't believe it. So this morning i adjusted the shifter and it's super smooth now, then I added a quart of oil. Still barely at the min line so I added another half quart, which finally got it into the middle area. I added the rest of the second quart after that. I did run the engine then let it sit to measure.
Car is at almost 28k. My last oil change was almost 8k ago. Stage 2+ Apr. Hpfp and new cam follower put in 10k miles ago, at 18k. Downpipe put in this January, around 22k miles.
If the dipstick was dry, that would mean i burned at least 3 qts in 8k miles. Is that likely? Or do you think the installer messed something up?
I never got a clear story as to how the shifter broke but these guys are supposed to have a good reputation. I couldn't find any leaks or anything and didn't notice anything that looked out of the ordinary. I'll try to jack up the car and take a look, but I'm dropping it to the dealer to inspect next week as I still have CPO warranty.
I know these engines burn oil but with this low mileage I'm worried either something else is going on, or the installer messed something up and didn't tell me.
The "Low Oil Pressure - Stop Engine" warning message came on while my wife was driving yesterday. The warning went away after a brief moment. I check the oil when I got home from work. It's at max and the oil looks clean (had it changed about 1000 miles ago). We've never seen this warning before. Is it just a fluke or is it something that should cause concern.
View 6 RepliesOn a city drive <10 minutes I get the STOP Engine warning, and Low oil pressure. I pull over, and my dip stick is dry, NO OIL! My car is just over 20K miles, and we just had it in for the service less than 5 K miles ago. There was no visible oil leaks, nor was there a pool of oil in the driveway.
Had similar problem with my 02, but it had 90K miles.
Is this possibly related to the PCV issue I read in another thread? Or are my seals just leaking? I added oil to get home, and then threw in some stop leak - seal conditioner.
