A few days back, the low tire pressure light came on, and I checked that the LR tire was only about 20 psi while the other three were ok (>30). I inflated LR to ~35 psi and the others as well. The warning light disappeared.
Today while I was filling gas, I checked the LR, and it is already down to 30 psi (hot) whereas the other three were about the same.
Is this just a small leak/puncture or something else (valve stem, etc)?
I'm having an obvious tire pressure loss on my rear left tire. Fill it up and in a few days I get the warning. I don't see any holes or anything. My question is this. Whats the cheapest route to go about this? I bought the car in June, so wondering if warranty would even cover tires? Is it worth a try? Not sure if I should take to the dealer to check it out, or just a town fair tire place.
View 13 RepliesLast week I was losing pressure on my left rear tire. It turned out to be a 3 inch spike that was bent inside the tire. The tires are the original Goodyears with 37k miles on them. I decided to replace 2 rear tires with Yokohama YK580s and turned the extra Goodyear in to a full size spare
Question. At high speeds 50 plus the rear feels like it's sliding a bit if I barely move the steering wheel. Having issues with 2 different tires.
My car's driver's side tire looks almost flat as one of my co-workers indicated first but the tire pressure light is NOT on. Should I worry about it and get it checked out?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2010 Subaru Forester that looses pressure in the front left tire much more quickly than the other 3 tires. For example, I just filled up all 4 tires to 33PSI, and when I checked it a week or two later, the front left was at 26PSI, while the other 3 were still at 32-33PSI. In the past, the tire pressure light has come on because the front left tire managed to get as low as 16PSI, while the other 3 tires were still at ~26PSI. Is it possible to have a small leak that leaks a couple PSI per week?
View 5 RepliesWhen I bought a used camry 5 years ago and drove it on the highway, my front tire busted and damaged the fender cuz it had too much air!! I wonder if it shows high pressure on my 2010 gen III Prius v with ATP. I know that the tires are special on this v version but still I like to keep a slightly higher pressure in the front ones because the lane keep assist feature works better with higher tire pressure. Summer is coming up so that gets me worried what to do with tire pressures.
View 10 RepliesLong story short, I have a tire that is losing pressure. In two months it went from 30PSI to 10PSI. I caught the tire right before my trip to Vegas and filled it back up to 32PSI and today it was at 25PSI for a total of 22 days. I figure I am losing around .3PSI a day. Took it into Sams where I bought them and of course they couldn't find a thing wrong with them. Sprayed them with soap and water and dunked them in a trough but no bubbles. They weren't going to do anything, but I talked them into putting a new valve stem on and at least taking the tire off the rim and taking a look. I realize it could be a dynamic problem where it only leaks while the tire is rotating. Is there anything else that I'm not thinking about verses having a leaky rim?

A few days ago, I got new tires on the front. The tire pressure light came on the next day. The front left tire seemed to be losing air. I brought it to the tire place.. They could find no leaking anywhere, although the tire had lost 5 pounds of pressure. The mechanic said the leak could be due to the TPM sensor? (He said, when he was checking the air pressure, the core stuck? ) Can a faulty TPM sensor cause air to leak out of a tire??
If that TPM sensor is indeed broken -- is the Tire place responsible?? --because this seemed to break right when they put new tires on my car.
Is there a way to view the tire pressure on the Prius? I've gone through the manual and didn't see anything. my LaCrosse had this function and it came in handy.
View 19 RepliesMy 2002 SC430 is driven 2 -3 times week and has 30K on it. January '08 I replaced run-flats with high-end non-RF Michelins sugg'd here. Ever since, tires have lost pressure. So far, I was told front pass. rim (orig. factory chrome) had a crack, that was fixed, but tire still loses pressure. Rear Driver's tire supposedly punctured at 2 weeks & replaced..but still loses pressure. All tires & wheels were checked & rotated, now 2 still leak in new positions.
According to Dealership & Tire place familiar with SC430's, my Valve stems and sensors are fine (TPMS works fine), tires are good, rims aren't cracked, but tires go soft. Yesterday a Tire place that does only Lexus & Toyota just told me "invisible corrosion" on rims makes moisture collect where tires seal to rims and this causes slow leak!?
This morning my TPM light came on. I stopped off at a service station and checked all the pressures, but they were all fine. Is there is history of faulty sensors?
View 16 RepliesIt was very cold in the morning yesterday and my tire pressure warning light came on. I had a funny feeling that it was related to the temperature but it didn't ever go off so I called Toyota today and they said to drop by with it and they would check it out. On the way there after work I got rear-ended. So sad. I thought it was just the bumper but the hatch won't latch properly so they said they would have to 'pull something out...". It was going to be about $800 for a new bumper but now will be more. I'm going tomorrow to see their collision guys about a quote to fix it. My poor car. I have to admit that even with a dented bumper the car still looks good!!! I don't know how I'm going to manage for the two days it takes to get it fixed. I have to re-learn how to use one of those key things.
The Toyota service person told me that he had 14 cars in today alone to reset the tire pressure warning lights that came on because of the cold weather. He said my tire pressure was fine. Just my bumper needs a little work.
I have 2011 Prius Pck II. Racked up about 22k miles now is socal. Replaced one tire due to flat. From week 3, Ive had blinking tire pressure warning.. then it stays lit then goes away.
Dealer said they will reset and say the sensors are just sensitive. Well.. 22k miles of annoying problems continues to blink then stays lit, then goes away.
I think it is defected.. they don't want to admit it and replace for me.
I think my tire pressure warning light is malfunctioning. I check all the tires with different tire gauges and they are all showing around 40 psi. I reset the system by holding down the button and let the light flash 3 times after I check them. It is only sporadic and does not stay on unless one of the tires is low. I did have a loose valve stem, that I tightened myself. When it does this it seems to come on and flash before going off and does not stay on. Sometimes it stays on for a little while and then goes off. Could it be a bad sensor?
View 11 RepliesI took my Prius to get one of the air pressure sensors replaced on a front tire. When they returned it to me they told me that the ABS and the VSC lights were on and did I know that. I told them that was not on before. Anyway they told me they could not fix it an I needed to take it to the dealer to get it re-calibrated which i did.. How can I prove that this happened when the tire was being worked on, or can I?

View 8 RepliesOur winter tires on the 2010 prius have the pressure sensors insalled in the wheels. Yet, ever since they were installed, the tire pressure light has been on on the dash. I have checked the tire pressures numerous times, and they are okay. In fact I now have the tires slightly over inflated instead of at spec, and it's still on. Do the sensors go bad in the wheels? We've had no issues with the system with the summer tires and wheels.

Granted there weren't enough grip (sand + LRR overinflated tire) but isn't ESP suppose to take over in situations like this?
The driver's side front and rear has been consistently loosing 2 -3 PSI more than the other side.
Only had it for like 2 months and I don't have anything loaded like luggage in the vehicle.
Is this something I need to be concerned about?
'15 Persona, should I keep the tire pressure higher during winter? I normally keep it at 33 front 32 rear, like the sticker on the door shows.
