Prius (2010-12) :: Keys Are Locked Inside Car?
Jul 27, 2013
I left my keys in the car last night and then my husband locked the car with his smart key. Is there a way to get my keys out without his key right now?

View 1 RepliesIs there a remote way to unlock my car that has keyless entry? The key is locked inside.
View 11 RepliesI have seen this happen twice on two different push to start Sonata cars at my shop. Customer stated that randomly it would lock the doors with his key inside while parked at home. I have not yet determined the pattern that could cause this issue.
View 18 RepliesLocked my keys in my car. A locksmith came and instead of using the tool to unlock using the unlock button, he just pulled the regular lever inside with the tool to open the door while it was locked. Since then I cannot open the driver's side door from the inside. It will open, lock and unlock fine from the outside. It is unlocked when I attempt to open it from the inside. I pull the lever and nothing happens. I have to unroll the window and open the door using the outside handle or crawl over to exit from the passenger side door.
View 4 RepliesMy purse with my key was inside the car. I shut the door and walked in front of the car to the barn. And as I walked past the car it beeped twice. When I returned to the car minutes later, all of the doors were locked.
View 18 RepliesThe car beeped at me when I tried to lock it. Initially, I thought I forgot to turn it off. But no, it said "keys detected inside". Not so, as the key was in my pocket outside when I tried to lock it and the other key was 10 miles away at home.
View 2 RepliesToday while getting gas, I found the car locked after I filled up. (2012 Rx 350) The key and fob were in my bag on the passenger seat. Luckily, the window was open, so I could reach in and unlock it. But I thought the car was not supposed to lock if the fob is inside...??
View 14 RepliesThis morning I went out to my RX450h in the garage and found the doors locked. I normally leave the fob in car in the door handle when parked in the garage and was surprised it was locked. Last night when I got home I did the usual...parked the car, got out of car leaving fob in handle. Did not lock car...just got out laving fob in car sitting all by itself on door handle. Came out this morning with all the doors locked and could not open until I went back in to get the spare. Once in the car I checked the fob and appeared to be functioning okay...meaning no signs of low battery. What caused this to happen?
View 14 RepliesI thought it couldn't be done but I'm living proof. I had my key on the seat and forgot all day. The wife put a stroller in the back and locked the car with her key. I go out this morning and its locked. I tried a coat hanger on the unlock button. I can push it down but its not responding.
View 19 RepliesMy father took the car to the grocery store and lost the keys. When we got the car from the dealer we only got one set of keys and proceeded to order a second set. Forgot to pick the other set and when I did the key did not worked. They (the dealer) swapped the 2 last digits from the VIN number so they had to reorder the keys. In the meantime how do I open the car. It is a 2003 Passat V6.
View 13 RepliesSo my gf locked her keys in the trunk of her 2002 passat glx 4 motion... any other way to open the trunk? for some reason the trunk switch on drivers door won't pop the trunk. Gas door does pop.
View 11 RepliesMy son locked my keys in the cab of the truck. To complicate things, I have the Ford upgraded alarm which disables the keypad. And the real kick in the $^%, is that I only have 1 set of keys. I'm definitely going to have a couple of more sets of keys made when I get inside, how to get inside the cab. I live way out in the boonies and really would like to avoid calling a locksmith.
View 14 RepliesOkay, my keys are locked in my trunk. I called roadside assistance and they opened the car, but the trunk won't open with the button on the dash. The seat release levers are, of course, in the trunk, so there isn't a way in the trunk. Is there a way to get into the trunk and bypass the lock systems? It's a 2013 Sonata GLS by the way.
View 25 RepliesI have locked my keys in truck and the battery is dead. How do I get either the door or the hood open. 2005 super crew king ranch....
View 3 RepliesI just purchased a 2013 Prius from the insurance company as a theft recovery , it came without any keys.
View 7 RepliesAs I had two extra keys from my last Prius (totaled 2010), I took them to the dealer to get them programmed - they spent gobs of time, but could not get them to register. They verified they were the correct keys - but in the end, could not get through to Toyota's higher level tech support to troubleshoot it....
They said they'd try again on my first service. Why there would be an issue programming extra keys???
i locked my key inside the car, and my spare key is lost. what can i do?
View 5 RepliesI have a mk6 golf tsi (highline/gt). While cleaning it I found out that if you sit in the car and use the key to lock it there's no other way to get out other than using the key. What if someone gets locked inside in a hot day? I for example am claustrophobic. In my other car (2004 e class) you can open the door even if the car is locked. I have the multifunction display can I fix it from there?
View 15 RepliesOn my 2010 prius, I recently had my windows tinted. Seems I have lost the single beep when locking the doors. I still get two beeps when unlocking. I also get the double lock when I put the car in gear. But I am having no issues with any of the door locks sticking. smart key isn't working as it was. When I walk up the the drivers door, the inside light would illuminate, that does not happen now.
View 10 RepliesMy fab works just fine (to unlock the doors) and I can lock the doors with the key. My problem is that for about 1 month, when I hit the lock button on the fab, all the doors lock but then the driver's door immediately unlocks. You can hear the doors lock, but then you hear the driver's door lock unlocking. I have to manually push the lock button switch (on the driver's inside door) to lock all the doors (and then the driver's lock unlocks, once again)... and then i manually push the lock on the driver's door. This is driving me CRAZY because basically I cannot lock the drivers door without going through this step. I have had the car for years and have never had a problem.
View 11 RepliesWe've had our '11 Prius II now for a couple weeks, and I have run into a problem I can't seem to figure out. When I lock the car, either using the button on the FOB or the smart key, then come back and try to unlock it using the smart key, it will lock the vehicle again. I have to wait a few seconds and try the smart key again and then it will unlock. I tried the search, but haven't found any thing describing this. Am I doing something wrong?
