I've had this intermittent plastic rattle coming from the back end on bumpy roads at low speed. It's not the license plate and bracket (already fixed that one). Yesterday I happened to tap on the outside of my left tail light and heard it rattle with the same noise I'm hearing on the inside of the car. There is no rattle when I tap on the right tail light.
View 5 RepliesNoticed a plastic rattling noise near their back speaker housing while driving over bumpy roads? I started noticing this sound over the last week or so, and thus far can only isolate it to the rear speakers area.
I also tested the rear shade up and down to make sure that wasn't rattling against the roof, but it wasn't. I also took everything loose out of the car just to make sure it wasn't some random object. The annoying thing is.. the sound is NOT consistent-- even while driving over the SAME bumpy road AND everything I feel is very tight and solid. So bringing it back to the dealer is a bit premature I think since I can't duplicate the problem consistently yet.
Btw, I have the JBL Synthesis system -- 11 speakers.
Been hearing a plastic sounding tapping noise when I ride over very bumpy roads. Turns out the floor panel in the trunk has some play and it's not padded. Well I wedged a towel Between the floor and the trunk lid and the tapping is gone. I was able to duplicate the sound by lifting and dropping the sliding floor in the trunk. Anyway I'm thrilled car is supple and quite over bumpy roads now. I went over every bumpy road I could find; nice and planted and quite now...
View 3 RepliesHave noticed since I had my car that I have a mild sunroof rattle. If I push on the rear right corner of the sunroof glass I have feel a little bit of play. This play is causing rattling on bumpy roads. I had the same issue on my 07 GS350 because it was slammed ( rode pretty ruff like the ISF), but I cant remember what they did to fix the issue. I am assuming it needs some insulation or tightening. Pretty sure with the way the ISF rides and the number of members we have with lowered ISF that I am surely not the only member with this rattle.
View 14 RepliesWell a picture says a thousand words so that plastic cover?/roof tonneau?/whatever is rattling when the top is up. Its a bit annoying when everything else in the cabin is tomb quiet so im going to try to remedy it tomorrow with some adhesive silicone. The same stuff that prevented leaks into my trunk will now be used to stop rattles (I hope).
View 5 RepliesOn the December day my 2013 Prius Five model (hatchback with all the safety add ons, bigger wheels) turned 18 months old, i was on the way to have one of the freebie services. I heard a metallic rattle, seemingly coming from the back of the interior. It continues and I cannot find a source for it. I just read a thread about rattles in the 2011s. Not particularly comforting given what I spent on the car.
Is this something I could have the dealer chase under the warranty? (this is the first new car i ever bought in my 50 years of driving, so my familiarity with new car warranties is a little thin.)
My dealer has been pretty responsive -- swapping out an interior door panel as a freebie when the armrest portion separated from the lower portion and collapsed into the door.
So when I bought one of my cars used I noticed a plastic rattle coming from the dash. Removed the dash sprayed some silicone and sealed with rubber and that fixed it. maybe 2 weeks ago another very annoying rattle developed which you can hear when the ICE start and you accelerate...and now you can hear it even when you are cruising on the hwy. I thought it is from the dash again but you will see that even without the dash it is still there.

Compared to the passenger side which is pretty stable and to a 2012 RX 350 which is stable too.
I have a 2012 Santa fe SE that with 22k miles on it. I have developed an annoying rattle in the back driver side door. I have gone around all of the doors with a screwdriver and tightened up everything but this rattle persists when driving on moderately rough roads. As odd as it seems I believe it also occurs more frequently on smooth roads when going around a left curve.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2014 Prius v that I bought new in January 2014. I've had this persistent rattle which seemed like it was coming from the back seat behind the driver. I've taken the rear seat partially apart and glued and shimmed things to no avail. I've emptied the entire contents of the rear storage area and it still rattled on. Anyhow I've had this rattle for six months now. Turns out the noise is coming from under the car just ahead of the rear tire where some body type plastic which juts down about 2". This piece rattles when against the frame just ahead of where one would put a jack for lifting the car. I've temporarily stuffed some old paper napkins, which were handy, between the plastic piece and the frame. Noise is gone! I'll eventually remove the napkins and then load up the area with silicone. I'm doing both sides of the car just in case.

View 1 RepliesIn my mom's prius V, on the front passenger seat, under where you put your legs, the plastic panel is like coming off, and when i am sitting in it, i can feel the panel hitting my feet. I don't know exactly how to put the panel back together. Also, Whenever I drive her Prius around I am always tempted to put it into reverse when I am driving around normally. I know I won't do it, but I just feel tempted too. What would happen if somebody actually put it into reverse while I am driving at high speeds? would it just not allow the car to switch gears or whatever? I was going like 3mph and switched into reverse once, car just slowed to a stop.
View 5 RepliesI recently took a ride in the back seat of my 2010 Tiguan and noticed that the muffler noise is loud enough to cause headache on long rides. Also I noticed that the back seat vibrates a lot with any tiny imperfection on the road while the front seat you barely feel any vibration on rough roads. Is it only my car?
View 2 RepliesA couple weeks ago I was in a hit and run, someone in a parking space decided to not look behind them before backing up into my passenger side front door & fender. The problem didn't happen till I got home & only when I drove it the next day it started happening. Every time it hits a bump the speakers start crackling and also make loud sounds that are like pops. Also the radio work's only sometimes unless I hit the top of the dash above the deck. Also only some of the speakers work together when they do, but they transition with the bump hitting or my fist pounding the dash from pent up anger from my radio not working.

I want to upgrade to 18's or 19's to get a better feel of the road in the summer, just want to get some input from those that have had the TSBs performed and upgrade to larger wheels as well.

View 7 RepliesJust recently I've noticed clunking in the rear of the car while driving on bumpy roads, on semi-smooth roads the clunking barely happens. I jacked up the rear of the car today to check for broken brackets/bolts/ect. and found nothing. Re-greased the sway bar bushings and tightened down the endlinks a tad (part where it attaches to the sway bar, the top ones look tight but didn't check. ). Cant seem to find anything wrong. The car is 40k miles, had tein solara springs since 3k miles, got the 23mm ur racing sway bar put in at around 15-20k miles, and then bc coilovers around 35k miles. My best guess is that the rear endlinks are done and need replacing.
View 2 RepliesThe sunroof seems to squeak a lot while driving on bumpy/ uneven roads.
Before I didn't know where the squeaking sound was coming from, I assumed it was from the doors. But when I opened up the sunroof the squeaks went away and when I closed it the squeaks came back. The sound is so irritating sometimes that I am forced to drive with the sunroof open.
When I go over bumpy roads I get car noise. Seems worse than 6 mos ago. Maybe I'm imagining it. The noises are diffuse and somewhat varied, not limited to a single area. And varies in intensity with the bumps.
Anyway, I tried testing for bad shocks by pushing down the front and back of my 2004 Honda Pilot and watching the return. But I didn't observe much. I couldn't get much vertical distance on the push down, to begin with.
Incidentally, there's no instability while driving...no up and down bouncing, no lateral movement, no problem when braking or starting.
On bumpy roads, and on most highways, there is a slight humming/rattling noise to the bottom left hand side of the steering wheel. Its really only audible when there's no music on, which happens to be how I like to drive. I've tried pushing on some of the panels when i hear it, to see if it dampens the noise, but no leads so far.
