How to to remove the side mirror glass? It's not in the Toyota manual book. What about the black frame that goes around it ?

View 19 RepliesI got my spherical glass in and was all excited and ready for a 5 minute install, but no dice.
There is a youtube video that seems to remove the mirror in a manner consistent with what the mount on the back of the replacement looks like, but for the life of me, I can't find or see behind there enough to push in the arm that will release the mirror.
It just occurred to me that the little indent could be pushed or pulled depending on the mount. Looks like I'll need a hook like tool to test this theory. (The tool used in the video seems like it has a hook on it, but he's too darn fast).
Well the warmer weather is approaching and I have decided to venture out and replace a chipped door indicator lens. What is the procedure for removing the plastic body coloured housing? I am assuming that once the mirror glass has been removed the housing will probable be held in place by some screw fixings, but I'm guessing!
View 7 RepliesI got in very minor accident the other day and the glass part of the passenger mirror popped out and broke on the ground. I just got my replacement glass from Amazon (I think the brand is Fit System or something). The rear tab is broke on the new part and the glass piece isn't anywhere near factory quality.
Where I can purchase an OEM replacement online? Just looking for the glass part. Also - is there a trick to snapping it back on? For some reason I cant get the top tabs to snap into place, even with the OEM broken mirror (when I tried to put it back on.
Part # is 73146 RH >PPE+PS< CAV1 REV
This morning found that someone had cracked the glass on my side door mirror... The housing itself is fine, but the glass is cracked, and I'll need to replace.
Do I have to replace the entire housing? The mirror still tilts and moves properly.
Someone before me used the wrong thing to scrape ice off their mirror. I am having a hard time finding replacement glass for my side mirror. I only need a driver-side, and I would like it to have the convex outside portion like it does now. That said, I wouldn't mind getting new glass for both sides.
View 24 RepliesSomeone broke the passenger side mirror on my '10 GTI. They broke only the glass, not the housing. Is the glass available as a replacement part, or do I have to replace the entire housing/assembly? If this is a quick cheap job, I'll do it myself.
View 10 RepliesI broke the mirror glass on the drivers side mirror. New glass was ordered and I connected all the parts back together. I believe I have everything in the correct place inside and the mirror snapped back into place, but the tension is not there. The mirror is very loose, and I cannot get it to tighten up.
The white bracket that connect to the new glass and snaps into the white motor is the part that I cannot get to tighten up. Do I need to add glue to this portion of the mirror?
Having problem when driving on the highway? Today I noticed the side view mirror glass shakes and moves quite a bit, while the passenger mirror appears to be rock solid. Any easy fix? I have 15k on the car - would this be something covered by warranty? 2013
View 2 RepliesWhy this could be and how I can fix it? The driver side mirror can move in all four directions. I've tried unsticking it and pushing with fingers to center it, that doesn't work. I can hear the motor when it goes up and down, but can't hear the motor trying when trying to go left and right.
View 7 RepliesMy daughter's car seat will fit our Prius much better if I can remove the rear side headrest. How do I go about removing it?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius with less than 5000 miles on it. I keep the car outside and was wondering if this is normal. The side window scraper/guides along the bottom of the window door frames do not remove any due/fog from the outside of the car when the window is rolled up and down to clear it.
View 2 Replies2010 Prius: During my first visit to dealership at 5000 mile service I told them to see what's wrong with my driver side rear view mirror why it is shaky. (It only shakes / vibrates left right NOT up down, and depending on the wind, road bumps have no affect) Obviously they could not duplicate it.
I called Toyota and Dealer wanted me to test-drive with a technician and show him the problem, which I did and technician agreed that there is a lot of wind induced shaking at the same time passenger side mirror is rock solid. They replaced the mirror with another mirror.
Now here is the problem, new one is also shaking. I am from SF Bay Area driving on 80, 780 and 680 near Fairfield (mostly windy)...
Is it possible to replace just the glass on the outside mirrors on a 2003 Ranger?
If so, how is it done?
My instrument panel glass stays fogged up for weeks after a rain. Shouldn't the dealer fix this with after only 14 months and under 3,000 miles ?
View 1 RepliesGen3 2010, 15 months on the road, 62 000 km. While washing the car today I noticed that the rubber edge bonded to the sunroof glass is buckling/rippling/tearing. Cosmetic only, as far as I can tell - damage/wear doesn't permeate far enough down to cause a problem, I don't think.
View 2 RepliesCar was broken in last night. Went to a near by auto glass shop to get the glass replaced. After the glass replacement, the window will lower half way after it reached the top using the auto up function (pull up and release). It stays up if you hold the switch up. Why that is? Seems to me the jam protection is activated, according to the manual.
View 2 RepliesWell I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?
View 7 RepliesWhen i first got my rx350 the auto angling side mirrors always worked, When i put the car in reverse it would automatically go down, so i could see where the curb was. Now after a couple of months it stopped working, every time i went reverse the mirrors won't angle down. What's the problem?
View 4 RepliesHow to disassemble the side mirror of GX460? I heard that it just clip-on, but it's hard to take off.
View 2 RepliesI have a new 2015 RX 350 and the side view mirror quit folding when I turn off the car. The auto light is turned on. It will work when I utilize the manual switch and it will open when I use the auto switch, but it won't close when I park the car and shut it off. Is there something I'm doing wrong or some other item I need to set?
