My 2011 Prius does not have an MFD since mine is the standard model. I tried to find a way to monitor the 12V battery by searching the forum but could not find a way to enter maintenance mode without the MFD. How to put my Prius on maintenance mode?

This thread was created to clarify the procedure for engaging Maintenance Mode on the G3 Prius after attempting to do it according to the Prius service manual and finding that the manual does not clearly describe or include all the required steps.
Perform the follows steps in less than 60 seconds to engage Maintenance Mode for the G3 Prius.
Begin with the car and all accessories turned off.
Set the parking brake.
With the car in Park, and your foot off the brake pedal, turn the Power Switch "On" by pressing it twice.
With the car in Park, and your foot off the brake pedal, fully depress the accelerator twice.
Step on the brake pedal and use the shift lever to shift from Park to Neutral.
With the car in Neutral, and your foot off the brake pedal, fully depress the accelerator twice.
Step on the brake pedal and press the Park switch/button to shift from Neutral to Park.
With the car in Park, and your foot off the brake pedal, fully depress the accelerator twice.
Check that "Maintenance Mode" is displayed in the multi-information display.
Step on the brake pedal and then press the Power Switch to start the engine.
Important: DO NOT drive the car in maintenance mode to avoid damage to the transaxle.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2009 Prius with an Enginer 4kwh battery pack. I know that the Prius' programming has a number of parameters that control when it will enter EV mode.
The display says "Cannot enter EV mode now" when engaging my Coastal EV mode switch at times when I believe it should be able to enter EV mode. Here are the conditions from a recent trip:
-Stopped at a light
-The ICE not running
-Car fully warmed up (just drove 10 miles)
-AC off
-Outside air temp 62 degrees
-Battery showing green bars with the top bar white
If I enter EV mode when the car is started cold then it works fine. Once I've driven it a while I can't get it to return to EV mode reliably.
The last time I spoke with my local Toyota dealer they said that because the 2009 American Prius was not shipped with an EV mode switch they would not support that mode.
Have 1000 miles left on the 150K CA battery on my 2009.
First, I can no longer enter EV mode with the ev mode. It always says cannot change into ev mode right now. In the past, that only occurred during the warm up cycles. Now it always says that regardless except if I try when first powering on before the engine starts. In that case, when it was working, it would switch over and the MFD would change to show the battery. Now nothing and the engine always starts.
Also, the battery charges and discharges much faster than it used to. I can barely get a 1/4 in stealth (feathering the throttle to keep the ICE from kicking on) without it going from 8 bars down to 2.
I have a 2005 Prius. After driving home from a 95K routine maintenance inspection, the car (with the display indicating 50% in the gas tank) went to limp mode and then stopped entirely and had to be towed back to the dealer. The codes pulled were
P0A0F (Engine failed to start)
P3000 (Battery control system)
B2799 (Immobilizer Malfunction)
P3190 (Poor engine power).
The techs concluded that the car was simply out of gas and the display incorrectly showed I still had gas in the tank due to a broken sender in the tank. They also said they added 1 1/2 gallons, and the car ran fine again.
However, I keep meticulous records of when I get gas, and according to my numbers I had at least 5 gallons left in the tank. Sure enough, the tech topped the tank up, which only took 4 gallons, so clearly my tank was not empty when this happened.
I purchased a used toyota camry 2006 2.4 LE. They key fob doesn't work since I got it, so I thought maybe the key fob battery is dead or the key fob itself is damaged. I searched for how to program they key fob and found some instructions, but it doesn't work. I can't get the car to enter the programming mode for the key fob(it should lock and unlock automatically as tutorials point out). Where to start tackling this problem?
View 1 RepliesI have a 200 GMC Jimmy SLE and I am trying to program the new FOD key for it. I followed the listed instructions here [URL] .... and here [URL] ..... but it will not enter program mode.
So, is there another method to try to get it into program mode? I have looked here and else but the only other instructions has to do with pre 2000 series blazers.
I have a new keyfob for my wife's 2000 X, and I'm trying to program it. The procedure is simple, right? Get in the truck, put the key in the ignition, lock the doors, unlock the doors, then cycle it to the run position (back of off), 8 times -- staying in "run" the eighth time.
I've done this OVER and OVER after my wife said it wouldn't work for her. The problem is that when you hit run the 8th time, the locks should cycle, indicating that it is ready to program the remote. The problem is the locks never cycle.
I also tried the same procedure without the locking and unlocking step prior to turning the key. And I also tried it by locking and unlocking prior to inserting the key.
When I bought that '99 F-250 SuperDuty, it only came with one key and one keyfob. So, I had another key made (no chip in key, btw!) and ordered 2 more keyfobs.
I've followed the instructions to the letter. I cannot get the truck to go into 'program mode' to program the new keyfobs.
I've also ordered (and received) new door locks, ignition 'lock', since the key to start the truck doesn't work in the doors. Strange.
Anyway, the original owner said that he had to have the ignition 'lock' replaced and he lost the door keys.
What is the proper way to get this truck into 'program mode' so that I can program all 3 keyfobs?
I have a concern about my 2010 Prius V(five). I've noticed some issues lately that may all tie in to one big problem.
1. My ev mode will not work at all. My battery will be fully charged and not in "B" mode. Turning car off and on will not work.
2. Engine will not turn off when coming to stops. Mind you when the battery is above 3 lines.
3. Throttle response feels like it's in PWR mode(super sensitive) but the engine is leggy. If I floor it for a sec the RPMS are super slow to come down.
4. The Eco line is quick to go in PWR portion and I'm not pushing it any harder than I was before all of this started. It seems like when I push the gas it skips the electric and automatically pulls from the engine.
How do you reset the display that says maintenance is due on my 2012.

View 16 RepliesOk, so I had the IM replaced today in my 2010 III due to CEL illumination, will post error code and part # later. Prior to taking it in, my "Oil Maintenance Required" came on upon start up, so I had them do that while I was there getting the IM replaced. Then the service tech comes to me and says, "Your back brakes have 0 pads and you need new rotors, a front end alignment and possibly new tires."

We own 2 2011 Prius cars bought at the same time in late May. Both have around 4600 miles on them. However, one has started showing a, Oil Maintenance is need soon , screen each time now at start up.
My question is first off, why is happening ? It was my understanding that the oil change level is 10,000 miles. Both cars were made well into the new 10,000 mile oil change requirement, so why is this light going off?
I have 2600 miles on my 2012 mdl II. A month old. I have been averaging 47.5mpg since day one based on miles driven and gas put back in tank at each fill up. I have used only Mobil bottom 87 oct gas.Last fill up got me 48.2, very nice, then I filled up with mid grade 89 oct as it was all I could get then. The next day I was in the dealer for my 1000 mile checkup. when I got out my battery was down to 25%, okay no biggie. Then from there on out I notice my mpg changed alot. The comps used to read 49.1-50.1. Now it reads 42.2-44.1. I drive the same way and my 85 mile round trip to work hasn't changed. My first fill up since the dealer, got me 45.0 mpg. wow a big drop off.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius that I bought used this past Fall (2013). I have only had the oil changed once and it was at the local Toyota dealer. The service adviser told me the interval was 10k miles however, the "Oil Maintenance Required" notification is flashing on my dash at only 5k miles since the last change.
Is this a standard preset notification that trips automatically at 5k miles or does the computer measure the quality of the oil and it is telling me that the oil is shot and I need to change it now?!?
My Prius is now 4 months old and has just just over 5000 miles on it. The Oil Maintenance message is showing in the display. I was told that oil change intervals were 10,000miles.
View 19 RepliesI changed the oil in my 2012 Prius about 4000 mile ago and reset the "Maintenance Required" light. Today the "Maintenance Required" light came back on. Is there anything else (other than oil change intervals) that turns on the "Maintenance Required" ?
