Basically as the title suggests. How hard is it? I manage an IT dept but have never done car work....

View 1 RepliesFor a project I started, I need to remove the plastic cover from the inside of the hatch. I think many people did that to install a rear view camera. Looking for pictures, simple instructions set, or a reference to a repair manual that would clearly explain how to do that.
View 7 RepliesI bought a used 2010 model and here's a pic of my rearview mirror. Please note the base of the mirror assembly and the location where it's attached to the windshield. Seems kinda low to me. Can other 2010 owners chime in if your mirror is attached at the same spot (or not)?
View 5 Replies2010 Prius: During my first visit to dealership at 5000 mile service I told them to see what's wrong with my driver side rear view mirror why it is shaky. (It only shakes / vibrates left right NOT up down, and depending on the wind, road bumps have no affect) Obviously they could not duplicate it.
I called Toyota and Dealer wanted me to test-drive with a technician and show him the problem, which I did and technician agreed that there is a lot of wind induced shaking at the same time passenger side mirror is rock solid. They replaced the mirror with another mirror.
Now here is the problem, new one is also shaking. I am from SF Bay Area driving on 80, 780 and 680 near Fairfield (mostly windy)...
Gen 3 2011, rear view mirror grarage door opener light has a constant dim blink. The second light which indicates reflective repression will not turn on or off. That light should be on at night all the time.
View 1 Replies2014 RX 450h. So I drove the car for the first time today and am wondering why the reflection in the Rear View Mirror is so dark? I did finally find the buttons for the Anti-Glare function on the far right and didn't notice a difference in the daylight.
View 6 RepliesSo I was just looking at my rear view mirror and noticed that it has the Celsius and Farenhite symbols where the compass is. Is there a way to display the temperature on the mirror? (I know it's right next to the clock already). I also found it interesting that if you hold the compass button down, the letters will turn into numbers for some reason.
View 2 RepliesI just recently put a jl8"w7 in my truck and this thing make my car rattle like crazy not just the trunk lid. The worse part is the rear deck below the back glass, any quick fix before I start tearing things apart?
View 4 RepliesPlanning on tinting soon probably with 3M Scotchtint color stable 35% on sides and back. I was wondering about what percentage tint would effect the automatic dimming rear view mirror and what percentage would render it an expensive brick?
View 4 RepliesMine is quite dark and like, foggy? Is this typical or is it a problem ?
View 12 RepliesI have a 2010 4 door GTI. I'd like to install my daughter's front facing Britax child seat either in the rear right or rear central position. However, in either case, I'm finding that most of the rear weight ends up on the headrest and I would like to simply remove the headrest from that seating position.
I read in the user manual that to remove the headrest,I pull it to it's highest position and then push the button on the right side of the plastic entrance of the head rest into the seat, and 'simply' pull the headrest vertical out of the seat.
This is similar to how this was done in other cars I've owned. However it is not working for me with the GTI. Once I pull the headrest to the highest possible position I can get to, I press the button but the headrest simply refuses to come out. I've tried this on the other rear seat and same problem. With the middle rear seat I can't seem to pull the headrest out beyond its lowest position.
Seeing that there is no tech area for the plug-in area of the forum, I must ask this somewhat general question here. Having just taken delivery of a pip I am wondering if there is any way to turn on the rear view camera when you are moving forward? It would actually provide better vision over the rear view mirror.
View 12 RepliesI've recently noticed that my v's auto dimming rear view mirror has stopped working, or at least appears that way. I'm not sure if it's because of the tint because I have used my iPhones led to testing it by shining the light from inside of the vehicle but it still fails to dim.
View 8 RepliesAll of a sudden the Side View mirrors on my prius aren't working. Which fuse controls the Side View mirrors?
View 6 RepliesHow to remove the rear bumper, I have to drill some holes to install some back up sensors. I rather not but I don't know if anything is behind there.
View 1 RepliesI took them off and can not install them back in since I put some sound insulator on the proof. I also lost 1 metal clip somewhere on the ceiling, where can buy new one, and what is the part number for it?
When I push the sun visor, only the clip stay on the ceiling, the sun visor will fall down. It drives me crazy whole day How the white plastic part (electric connect to sun visor) suppose to be attach to the ceiling.
I want to install an external display ipod adapter (Kenwood KOS-A300) in my 2010 Prius IV, but in reading the manual I see that the power wiring for this device requires 3 connections - Ground, Ignition, and Battery (it also has a dimmer control wire, but I am hoping that one can be left disconnected).
I haven't come across an accessory like this before - usually they just need 12v and ground and in these cases I just tap into the wiring for a 12v accessory power outlet to get these connections. My recollection in this car is that the accessory power outlets are switched (either with ignition "on" or accessory "on"), and they turn off when the car is shut down.
Is there a convenient location inside the vehicle where I can connect a wire that is always hot with 12 volts?
Installed some shifter cable bushings. But now reverse is harder to get to. Instead of just pushing it down and left for reverse.. Now I have to tilt the shift know slightly towards 4th gear then push down and go left and the gate seems so much smaller now. Overall it doesn't feel that much better than stock. what could i have done wrong?
View 6 RepliesI took my rear springs off for some cleaning and lubing because they were making squeaking noise on hard acceleration, but I forgot to note which direction the springs should point...
I kinda remember the top and bottom. If I got this right, the end with a smaller loop is on the bottom.
Is there any difference between left and right springs? Also, the spring mounting pads is not symmetrical. Which way are they suppose to face? Does it matter?
I'm not sure if this is a problem others have experienced here but for the last few months my rear view mirror angle would drop down and every morning when i got in the car i would need to readjust. I then thought that like every other moving part of the P that needs adapting that maybe the same applies to the mirror so i moved it to it's highest then lowest points, moved the seat all the way back, got out, locked the car, unlocked it, the seat and mirror had returned to the position stored in the memory and for the last month the mirror has not moved so I'm thinking that this has solved the problem.
View 1 RepliesMy rear view mirror looks to be dying. Yesterday morning it started with what looked like a hairline crack through the middle of the glass. Several hours later it appeared to be de-laminating itself. It looks like water is stuck between 2 layers of glass. Obviously not happy with this as TOD is just around the corner and don't want to be traveling over 1200 miles with limited rear view visibility. [URL]..........
