I have a 2010 Prius. I went out to my car, which was parked in a parking lot, and the hazard lights were blinking. I did not turn them on. I drove home for 20 minutes and could not get them to turn off the whole way. My car sits in my garage with the hazards flashing.

Thought I might have pressed the hazard lights button , so of course I press the button into the lower position and the lights are still on .. Then I press the button again into the raised position and put the car into drive and now the hazard lights start to blink faster as I accelerate ( now my Prius Became a police cruiser ) it's obvious I have a short some where , or the relay went bad . If it's the relay, where can I find the relay in the car? Looked in both fuse boxes and I couldn't find it . I've since pulled the fuse on the hazard/ signal lights. I'd rather try to fix this my self before I have to pay Toyota to rob me blind .
View 2 RepliesToday I noticed that my hazards came on while my car was parked. It's weird because when I opened my car to check if I had turned on the hazards (which of course I didn't), the hazards stopped flashing. I don't know what could have caused this.
View 1 RepliesSo, I'm driving back from the beach currently (typing this on the side of the road). All appears to be fine with the car. Then all of the sudden, the hazards start blinking and I can't turn them off. I pull over (currently), get out to walk around, see nothing wrong. Not running hot, not anything whatsoever. Sit a couple of minutes, and they go off by themselves.
I've been cruising for the past 3 hours, no problems. No warning lights on the dash.
I have an '02 camry v6. My hazard lights started blinking when the car is off and aren't responding to the on/off button. When I turned the car on they stopped for a few seconds then blinked rapidly several times, then back to normal blinking. I tried disconnecting the battery and restarting the car. The battery is only a few months old. What could be causing it? Where is the fuse for it located?
View 1 RepliesMy Jetta has had an off-and-on clicky turn signal sound without turn signals or hazard lights actually blinking. I put up with it for a while, but recently it's been more clicky than not. I'm aware this is a common problem. I had already tried the cleaner spray "trick" which made the problem worse if anything. Today, I removed my signal stalk as described here and gave it a cleaning. After re-assembling, the clicky problem didn't go away, and now the high beams are always on (even with the key out of the ignition, and the car isn't running). I temporarily dealt with this by pulling fuses 18 and 19 for high beams. It's an ok short-term workaround. Low beams still work fine.
I'm considering replacing the hazard signal relay, but a while ago I messed up while trying to use ghetto removal keys to pull my radio.
I had parked my 2010 Prius in the garage overnight, the next morning it was completely dead. No lights on the dash. Nothing. I don't think I had left a door ajar or the lights on or anything. Can't be sure, though. So the car was dead, I called my Dad, (just like always) because he knows stuff, is an electrical engineer, even has his very own Prius. I thought it would be fun for him to charge it and we were a little afraid together (quality time!). We carefully followed the instructions in the book. Nothing went poof. The car started right away, everything worked fine. Off I went. I took my dad's portable charging thingy just in case.
View 14 RepliesI'm having a strange problem with my 2011 Elantra. Twice this month, I've gotten up in the morning and the hazard lights are on. The first time, I thought it was the parking lights and I'd left the door ajar but I went out and checked all entry points and everything was secure, so I checked interior lights and everything was off so I started the car, all good and when I turned it off, the lights went out but an hour later when I went out to leave for work, car barely started.
Since that time, I've paid attention to the lights. They are always off when I leave the car. This morning, lights are on again. Nothing will turn them off except for starting the car. I'm afraid that the repetitive drain on my battery will soon kill it.
I just installed the Hyundai factory Remote Engine Start in my 2011 Elantra GLS and have a problem that the hazard lights come on and stay on when unlocking/unarming the car. To repeat, this is the genuine Hyundai Accessory Remote Start/Security kit (3X056 ADU00), not a third party offering. Everything that the kit is supposed to do, WORKS as specified, including remote start. The only problem is that when I use the key fob to unlock/disarm the system, the emergency flashers/hazard lights come on and stay on until I turn them off from the inside or until I toggle lock/unlock for the key fob a few times.
I've been through the wiring a dozen times, and am absolutely certain that the kit is wired correctly -- again all features work. Now, I find it interesting that NONE of the wiring of the kit (based on the schematic) comes close to touching a circuit that is identified as hazard/flashers! I even temporarily disconnected all four leads from the kit that go to the front headlamp circuits and rear tail lamp circuits -- and the hazards STILL CAME on when unlocking. This is telling me that there is an indirect/unintended "connection" between the kit and the triggering of the hazard circuit.
The kit is clearly the correct one for the car, and the car has the right equipment for the kit (i.e. No Smart Key, has auto transmission, power windows, power locks, etc). Why the hazard lamps come on when I click the keyfob to unlock the car?
I left my hazard lights on for 3 hours. Outdoor temp is 25 F
Car will not power up, no dash controls illuminate when fob is inserted and start button pressed.
Can I rectify this problem by jumping the accessory battery with a 12V power pack make to just art ordinary cars.
Can it be main battery that is the problem. It is the original 12 V battery.
I have a 2005 VW Passat. The front left and right axle were replaced and since then, I have noticed that the ASR (ESP) hazard light will blink and engage the brakes when I hit 60 mph. The light is never constant, it will only blink on and off a couple of times. I've taken it back to the same shop...they claim they've checked the sensors but the problem still persists. I've also taken it to an authorized VW dealership...they indicate it's a problem with the sensors...obviously, I could have them try and fix it, but hesitate to pay for something that the other garage should fix.
View 2 RepliesMy passenger side front signal light works properly, but when I turn my hazard lights on it will not blink normally (the other 3 blink). Inside my truck when looking at my dash I see the small green blinking arrow for the left signal, but not for the right when the hazards are on. When using the signal normally, I see the small blinking green arrow for the right signal though.

I've got a 2001 f150 supercrew 4x4 with the 4.6. I plugged in trailer lights and now I have no brake, turn signal, or hazard lights. I've checked fuses and none are blown.

The leds have their own controller and will be separate from any other lights/wiring. What I need is some way to trigger a relay to turn on the led's. Was hoping to tap into the hot lead off the hazard switch itself but that's not an option!
View 2 RepliesI recently (two weeks ago, actually) bought a one owner clean car fax 2007 Prius with 125k after totaling my 2004 - I got the 04 cheap enough that the payout covered the new one. The car ran perfectly; quiet, no whining or grinding noises, etc. About a week ago, the check engine light came on. The next day, I got in it to drive to school. I get to the middle of my campus and it starts to lag (very similar to the way my 04 did when it needed a new hybrid battery cell). I pull over and turn the car off and back on since that used to be what would get me home in the 04.
Every single warning light came on, including the master one. My "BRAKE" warning light is also on even though the e-brake is not. The car would not show "ready" and would go into park, but if I tried to shift into anything else, it would pop into neutral. (The dash as of now is shown below.) This is not user-error. I have driven a 2nd gen Prius before, I know about pressing the brake down when you start it. The garage I had to get it towed to has no idea what to do with it and each Toyota dealership I called told me that they hadn't heard of before.
I bought a new 12V and the garage said it didn't make a difference, but I'm not entirely convinced they even tried it.
Second dead battery in 2 years. ??? Car never sits for longer than 12 hours and no internal lights on. I have a III with Sunroof.
View 14 RepliesI parked my car (outside) and went on a business trip for three weeks. When I came back last week, when I turned the car on, the brake light and the ABS light were on. And it hasn't turned off since.
The car was working fine and didn't show any sign of troubles prior to me parking it, no funky light was on. What could be the cause? It wasn't driven during three weeks. What could have deteriorated to cause these lights to come on? The car seems to be braking fine.
FYI, before getting to my car last week, after leaving parked for three weeks, I mistakenly pressed the Panic button. And I didn't realize that the Panic button got stuck and was continuously in circuit. And it stayed like this for an hour before I realized what happened and fixed it. Not that I think that it can have an influence on my current problem, but thought I would mention it anyway...
So, I went to a hotel tonight and gave my car (2010 Prius II) to the valet. When I came out about 4 hours later, a different valet guy said they had a problem with my car and that it had no power. But, somehow, they were able to drive in reverse and park it near the entrance. This must have happened shortly after I left the car with them.
The car would not start, but a dash light was blinking that looked like an outline of a padlock (it was blinking too quickly for me to tell). Also, strangely, the vents were blowing air (albeit, at a very low setting).
Someone with the hotel came out with a battery charger and we hooked it up to the terminal in the front engine. As soon as the battery was attached, everything in my car lit up and I was able to start it up.
We have a 2013 Prius v two that is 5 months old. It has NO alarm system. This morning while sitting in our garage the car sounded as if a car alarm went off. The lights started flashing and the horn went off and on for 10 seconds or so. This happened three times over a period of 2 hours. There is no car alarm in this car.
I turned on the car to see if there were any error messages. We are coming up on the 5000 mile maintenance and the indicator for that was on. There were no error messages.
My 2010 Prius was hit while parked. The left side was wiped out and the whole car was pushed sideways about 2-3 inches, with the parking brake on. Toyota checked out the car and said everything looked fine. But there is this odd sounding humm coming from the rear of the car. Toyota says that is normal. Is this true?
