I don't drive a lot so on my 2008 Prius I could turn the smart key on/off with a button below the steering column and it keeps the system from constantly searching for the signal. That stop some of the drain on the 12 volt battery. My new 2013 Prius 3 doesn't have that button. Is there a way to turn the smart key system on/off easily?

Is there a way to get all the doors to unlock when you pull the handle instead of just the drivers door unlock. I frequently travel with a passenger and it would be nice to not have to unlock my door first, and then bend over and click the unlock button inside.

View 19 RepliesAny way to defeat the stupid panic button on the remote? In the past I have poured glue into them, Popped the red thing out, etc , but this is a lease and I might well turn it in in a few years and do not want to physically modify the smart key, but twice in the last week it has falsely triggered by getting pressed by the other keys on my keychain as I sat in the house. This must be a common problem, since I had to defeat the same button on 2 other cars I had. I am wondering if there is a software fix to have the receiver in the car ignore the panic mode.
View 13 RepliesRecently bought a 2010 Toyota Prius 1.8 and it was working very well. It used to display a message saying that the key battery is low. Then one day, the smart key stopped opening the door. After some reading on the forums, decided that the smart key battery might be really low, so used the mechanical key to get in and tried to start the car by placing the Toyota logo of the smart key on the power button. Since nothing happened, decided to replace the batteries anyways. After the replacement, tried again, but zip. The doors still won't unlock, and the proximity switch-on also is not working. Why? Is it an issue with the 12-v battery?
View 9 RepliesWe've had our '11 Prius II now for a couple weeks, and I have run into a problem I can't seem to figure out. When I lock the car, either using the button on the FOB or the smart key, then come back and try to unlock it using the smart key, it will lock the vehicle again. I have to wait a few seconds and try the smart key again and then it will unlock. I tried the search, but haven't found any thing describing this. Am I doing something wrong?
View 16 Replies2013 Prius 4 ... A deer was trying to hitch hike but didn't give me warning before lunging into the passenger door. I found a salvage door that will work. I have switched all the wiring, speaker, locking mechanism and mirror but I need removing the door handle(outside). I suppose the sensor that matches my key fab needs to be transferred to the new door but I can't see how this is done. Looking for the instructions on removing the door handle?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai elantra GLS. I have a HID kit with a relay kit installed. It's been working just fine for 2 years now (2 years as of may) with no problems.
About two weeks ago my lights (hid low beams) wouldn't turn on right away. It would take multiple tries to get the lights to turn on. So I friend the usual methods....replacing the bulbs,replacing the ballasts,still the same issue.
So as of last night the passenger side light went out completely. I put in a new bulb,new ballast and still nothing. I bought a new relay kit (harness) and replaced it all and it still won't cut on the passenger side bulb!!!
So I went to check the fuses and there's no where in the fuse panel where it says low beams or headlights!! After reading I'm hearing it's in the smart junction box. In there is there a specific fuse for the right headlight? Do I need to replace the whole smart junction box? Where is the smart junction box?
Driver's Side does not open when touching handles. Passenger and hatch open and lock with no issue. Checked vehicle custom and correct setting is selected. It just stopped working.

View 3 Repliesrecently the remote locking buttons have been acting weird. The locking system itself may be to blame but let me elaborate. Lately I've been trying to lock the car with the remote, but sometimes it will beep once, lock the car, then immediately unlock it. This will repeat if I try it over again. If the car is locked, the remote at times will not unlock the car and twice I've had to manually unlock it.

I can get in using the small metal key, the car starts and everything seem to be working fine with the smart key plugged in. The 12v battery seems to be fine as all the lights work when the car is off. What this might be?
View 5 RepliesThe last several times I've gone for gas, the car won't recognize the smart key after fill up, either in or out of the slot. It does not recognize either of my 2 smart keys. I have changed the batteries in both keys. I am able to lock/unlock doors, but not start the car. The red light on the dash indicates there is no key. Dealer cannot find the problem. Eventually the car does start after some time (5 to 20 minutes) and I have not been able to identify what changes to make it so.

It won't unlock the doors or start the car (neither wirelessly nor when plugged in to the dash). The other fob works fine. Are there any scenarios where a Smart Key fob gets rejected from the system?

View 19 RepliesI've got a 2007 Prius and the buttons on one of the smart keys no longer works. With the key in hand, I can touch the door handle and the door will unlock. I can also turn the car on without placing the SKS in the slot. However the lock/unlock/emergency buttons don't work. Everything works fine on my other SKS so I don't believe it's something with the car. I've also checked the KEY button below the steering wheel - it's out.
I've just changed the batteries on the broken SKS. Even going as far as pulling the battery out of the completely functional SKS and putting it into the broken SKS. Still, the three buttons don't work.
I have a Prius i-Tech 2007. I had gone overseas and came back after 2 weeks. On return, the smart key just didn't work. It didn't open the door...I took out the mechanical key and opened the door. Then I inserted the key in the key slot and tried to start the car but it just didn't react at all.
