View 13 RepliesIn the last month, I've been getting less miles per fill up. Previously the gas light would hit 1 bar around 400 miles. Now its hitting 1 bar around 350-360 miles. But when I fill up, I only fill up about 8 gallons so I haven't lost any gas mileage. It feels as if the tank shrunk on me.
View 6 RepliesI have been a happy 2009 Prius owner for 2 weeks now but am a bit concerned with the fuel capacity I have been experiencing.
The first tank I went to fill-up when there were three blips left on the fuel guage and the tank only took 5.7 gallons. I wrote this off as I did not know how much gas was in the tank when purchased (the guage was on full). The mileage was around 250 miles.
Today I had to stop again for gas. There were 3 blips left on the guage and the tank again only took 5.4 gallons. I am not concerned about the MPG, but with the tank only taking around 5 gallons.
So I'm now on my second week with this 2012 Prius and still trying to learn how to roll in it.
I filled up my very first tank yesterday (dealer gave me a full tank when I bought it) and the miles remaining display said 424 miles after I filled up. Does it display 424 on all Priuses by default?
The first tank gave me right around that many miles before I filled up - the miles remaining display said I had 9 miles left so I got too scared to see if I could go farther. But when I filled it, I only filled just under 10 gallons - does that mean there's more miles for me to drive, despite that remaining miles meter?
And...am I getting pretty bad fuel economy?
Been driving for 3 days now for a total of about 100 miles from a full tank averaging 50 miles per gallon. I noticed the gauge still shows FULL. Not even a bar below or something. Is there anything wrong with my gauge?

I have a 2012 Prius 3 that's about 1 1/2 months old with about 1,500 miles. I remember when it had 3 miles and the dealer filled it up it showed a 600+ mile range. Since then I've had a few fill ups where I've gotten it down to about 20-40 miles left in the range and when I fill it up it's only filling up with just under 10 gallons and showing a range of about 475 miles. If I remember correctly the fuel tank is 12.9 gallons so I feel like I'm not filling up to those last two gallons. Not sure what's going on.
View 2 RepliesMy 4 month old Prius, while being driven by my wife, ran over a shredded 18-wheeler retread. Shortly after I noticed a very small amount of gas leaking. Took it in for 5K service, and dealer service sees the scuff marks on the undercarriage from the tire and of course doesn't cover under warranty. $1000 roughly to replace ($500 parts/ $500 labor). I saw the hole, it is literally a pinhole.

View 17 RepliesWe just bought a 2011 and are only getting 40 mpg max. I wonder if the 110 Arizona summer heat has something to do with it. Pretty bummed. I have read 50 with careful driving is normal? I let bicycles outrun me? 12 volt battery? New plugs? It has 107,000.
View 19 RepliesJust bought a used 2010 prius II about 2 weeks ago with 10000 miles on it. As I've been driving I feel the consumption display is misleading. It averages around 52-53 mpg, but I'm only getting about 480 miles before I'm running on empty. The tank capacity is 12 gallons right? If so I should be getting at least low-mid 500's before I need to fill up again. Hopefully I'm calculating something wrong and its not the car itself.
View 16 RepliesHaving trouble with the fuel level readings in their t-reg? When I fill mine up it shows as full but drops to 3/4 of a tank within 10 miles. Then it reads fine for about 300 or so miles and then drops to empty in about 20 or 30 miles. When I fill it back up it still has 6 or 7 gallons left. And yes, I am using 91 octane gas.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE (Automatic) it just started to run rough and has been drinking gas at an alarming rate. Almost 1/2 tank in about 60 miles. The car doesn't seem to be running slow or smelling of gas. I was told it was fuel injection issues and have added some cleaner but I am shocked with how bad it go so quickly. I had two motor mounts replaced in the car recently (the front one a day before this started). Would they have knocked something out of wack?

After several fill ups since my purchase, the miles to empty has been dropping every time I filled up. A few fill ups ago, I remember it was 327. The latest fill up was about 318. What gives? Do the current MPG avg affect this number? What is the factor for the variance?

View 10 RepliesThe specs says 23gl in total capacity. However, the last couple times I filled up gas, it was 19+ gl I put in with about 20+miles indicated on screen before filling up. So it means ~21gl in total capacity? I assume with 20+ miles left = ~2 gl of gasoline. I know the calculation is rough?

1. The Manual says the fuel capacity is 17 gal, but with an empty tank the most I can put the tank is around 14 gallons. What is the real capacity, and why does the manual say 1y7 gallons.
2. For my 450H with 19 inch wheels the manual says tire pressure should be 33 psi. However, when delivered from the factory the tire were 39 psi. What should the tire capacity be?
There seems to examples throughout the manual of conflicting information.
