Is there a difference in mpg depending on the climate control settings?

View 19 RepliesRX450h Climate Control ... This is annoying and all my riders complain about the A/C Auto mode on this car. Here is the issue in Auto Mode with the inside temp set at 72 degrees, and the outside temp is cold anywhere from 55 to 65 degrees the A/C always blows cold air into the car. I can never get heat to flow into the car. The manual says that auto controls the a/c flow, fan speed, and vents like auto in almost every car. What is wrong here? The A/C is always on blowing cold air regardless of the temperature set inside the car. To me it seems that the temperature setting for both passenger and driver do not work.
View 12 RepliesI just purchased a 2014 Avalon XLE Touring. One thing that seems to be a slight problem is the A/C setting. To get the car to cool down I have to turn the setting down to about 66 to make it comfortable and I know it is not 66 degrees in the car. Is there some way to calibrate the temp reading?
View 14 RepliesLast November I had a left front end collision with another car. The other driver was at fault and their insurance covered everything. The car was in the shop almost 2 months.
Now it seems back to normal except the climate control randomly shuts off every so often. I usually leave it on Auto. After the car has been off overnight or sometimes just a few hours, I notice the climate control is off. After turning it back on, the temperature setting has been reset to 75. It happens about once a week. Doesn't seem to be related to outside temperatures.
Should I take it to the dealer for a check or back to the body shop? The body shop offers a lifetime warranty, but I doubt they could diagnose something intermittent like this.
I've had my prius for about 8 months now and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure how the climate control works. I just realized that one of the buttons I've been pressing is an air pollen filter. I've also recirculated the air and managed the fan speed with the up/down.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius and I leave the climate control on. When I start the car the AC will only work sometimes. I can run errands, where I make 5 stops shutting the engine off each time. It will be hotter then heck in the cabin and after starting the car the ac won't blow air out the vents. Sometimes I can shut the car off and restart it and then the AC will turn on. When it actually blows air, it's nice and cold. If the car is on and the AC won't work, I will turn down the climate control to the coldest setting and it still won't come on. But the next time I start the car the AC might work fine. To me, it seems like a relay or something electrical isn't turning the ac on when the car is turned on. Or maybe the blower motor is getting stuck.
View 16 RepliesThe buttons to change the temperature in my 2010 Prius don't do a thing... The temperature is cool-ish as long as you have the AC turned on, and stays the exact same as you increase the temperature until you get to 85 and it maxes out, then it starts to get warm. As soon as you go to 84, it's cool again.
View 14 RepliesI already know the climate control screen on my 2010 Prius gets scratched easily, but I noticed today that I also have many dust particles under the screen as well. I never touch the screen and I always take the car to the local car wash for cleaning. Is there any way to remove them or is this something I'll have to live with?
View 2 RepliesThere is an intermittent buzz coming from the center console of my 2010 Prius trim level 2. It seems to be coming from the climate control system. It lasts for about three seconds, and it sounds like a fan with a bad bearing or rubbing against something else.
The buzz occurs when starting the vehicle after it has been off for several hours, and intermittently while driving (maybe once every couple of days), and exactly one minute after powering off. It began occurring a few months ago.
When I press auto once it turns ON auto climate control. Why doesn't pressing the Auto button a second time turn AUTO off??
View 7 RepliesI need to select AC on when running in the automatic mode. I get from the manual that when I select Auto the system will maintain the selected temperature.
View 18 RepliesIn the dashboard settings, I set the miles to my previous vehicle. When I turn the vehicle off, it shows fuel cost. I could have swore that one of the vehicles we test drove showed an amount saved instead of pure cost, but for the life of me I can't locate this setting anywhere.
View 1 RepliesI just purchased a Gen III Prius II (I am a Honda Insight convert). The question I have is... Is there a way to change the Climate Control Temperature and the Outside Temperature read outs to Celsius instead of Fahrenheit? I know pressing the MPH/km/h button changes the the speed, distance and fuel consumption, but not the temperature read outs. I prefer Celsius as that is what I was raised on.
View 7 RepliesAs the topic line states, would you put some type of coating on the audio/climate remote control to prevent the rubber from wearing out? I can envision if I'm using it frequently, over time, the rubber part is going to wear out.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2010 B6 Bluemotion with standard AC. Can this be retorfitted with the Climate Control panel from the R-Line? and if so, how do you do it?
View 1 RepliesIf i am driving say for 15 mins on the highway at 65-75 mpg with a few brakes and accelerations in between due to other cars around, is it better to use the cruise control (i have adaptive cruise control on my prius v) and let the car figure out the throttle and braking or is it better to just drive by myself without using cruise control? i read about the different pulse-glide driving methods.
View 19 RepliesI find that my 2010 V6 is always cold in the winter. I always need to turn the temperature control to the highest, but there is still not enough heat. This morning, it was -11c outside. After I drove 10 KM (about 20 minutes) , inside the car is still very cold. My feet were frozen. The air from the vent is only warm, not hot. I also find that this car takes longer to warm up. The temperature gauge won't start to move until I drive about 2.5KM.
View 5 RepliesThis may be operator error, but we have had trouble getting our new GX to blow warm air on cold days.
The fact that there are no real buttons to operate the climate control is kind of annoying. I set the temperature to high (like 80+ degrees)..but it will not do anything or adjust automatically. Even if I hit the fan buttons to increase the blower, this does not have an effect for about 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, it will start to work correctly and blow the warmer air. Our old 4runner V8 (basically the same car) was able to blow hot air almost instantly after start-up..I've never waited this long in any car.
I have a 2013 GX premium. Climate control overcompensate while trying to keep the cabin temp. I was driving with the heat on and suddenly really cold air started coming out of the vents to the point where I had to raise the temp to make it warm up. It seems like the air should be more gradually adjusted to keep the cabin temp constant.
View 1 RepliesI have had my Santa Fe for 3 months now and have just noticed recently (due to the cold wet weather) that when it is raining my windscreen fogs up when the climate control is set to auto. This never happened in my previous car (VW Golf GTI). I always drive with climate control set to auto and temp set to 23 degrees C. When the windscreen fogs up I have to set A/C to on to demist it. The temperature is then totally different. I can only get a clear windscreen with A/C on, no matter what mode. E.g. If I just have front demister with no A/C then I fog up. If I have blowers set to windscreen and no A/C I fog up. Having A/C on with any mode is fine! When the windscreen is clear and I set the climate control back to auto then the windscreen fogs up almost immediately again.
This seems a bit rubbish to me. I would have thought that having the climate control set to auto is all that is required (like my previous car). I don't want to drive with A/C on when it is raining and auto when it is not. I just want to keep it in one mode.
I've heard that cruise control reduces mileage. This was in relation the Honda Civic Hybrid (Gen II).
