This isn't about the condensation build up due to faulty headlights, but the plastic on the headlights seems to be "fogging" white quicker than any other car I've owned. Have this issue on their 2010 Prius? I've only had the car since February of 2010 and already in less than 4 years, the plastic housing is starting to fade white.
View 7 RepliesReplacing my HID bulbs, and I thought the the driver lens was just more scratched or rock pitted than the passenger.
However, it appears that their is some fogging or dust inside the lens. It doesn't seem to be actual moisture - it appears almost like a layer of dust or residue - perhaps it had moisture at one time that has evaporated or vented out.
I bought some stock headlights that were retrofitted with projectors. The re-seals seem on but after a decent rain the right side light is completely fogged inside. I have taken the back cap off and it will dry out after a day in the sun but should not do this. What's causing this and is it fixable or not??
View 7 RepliesThe headlights on my 05 V8 (12K mi) are starting to "fog" up a bit on the inside -- and all within the last 200mi or so. The fog doesn't appear to be the result of condensation inside of the lens. Instead, it almost looks like the glass is now dirty and, I'd guess, about 10% opaque immediately in front of the main projectors on both sides. It shows no signs of going away under any conditions. FWIW, the weather has been steady temperature-wise and has been quite dry for the last few weeks.
View 6 RepliesModel Year 2010 Prius, rubber along the front edge of the sunroof glass looks dry/cracking, but only on the left side of the car. Don't think it has anything to do with the location it is parked in, as that and the orientation changes daily.

If not, what are good replacement headlights that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'll need the entire assembly, not just the bulb.

View 13 RepliesI traded in my 2009 Sonata for a 2012 Elantra Ltd recently and I have had an issue with the headlights, Both of them are constantly fogging up on the inside, Anytime there is rain, even light rain the headlights fog up. Especially when I wash the car, I was thinking about taking my car into the dealer and having them repair or provide me with new headlights.
I have read that the headlights are vented on the back but this does not make sense for them to leak like this.
My 2010 Tiguan's windows are always fogging on the inside. When backing from garage, when getting in after sitting in a parking lot, temperature and humidity seem to make it worse, but it happens under all kinds of conditions. My Jetta sits right next to the Tiguan, and it rarely fogs up.
View 12 RepliesI have the Non-Nav with just Display Audio. I have noticed that the display tends to fade in & out. Even at night when the lights are on- I keep the dash on the bright side- the DA/radio info fades. It's still legible but wondering is there a way to fix this? I couldn't find anything in the manual about adjusting the brightness.
View 4 RepliesI went to an outdoor auto show the other day. When I got home I saw some white paint looking dots on my car. The dots are the size of salt, peppered on top of my car. I can only see it up close. I started using my nails to get them off, they started to break down and some of them started to have fiberglass looking "tails",after some effort I was able to remove a few. I can't see myself doing that on the whole car. Not sure if I should use the clay bar on it, I don't want to scratch the paint.
I'm going to try some of these tips tomorrow, but mine doesn't look like spray paint. It's like some kind of alien paint/fiberglass mix.
Just bought a 2011 Black Prius IV. Curious if use wax to protect the paint job from fading?

View 12 RepliesI just bought a new 2010 Prius IV and noticed after a good rain that the front left headlight assembly was showing some moisture fogging inside the lens. None of the other light assemblies showed any moisture.
View 6 RepliesHaving issues with headlights burning out in their 2010 Prius??? I had my bulbs replaced at 49,000 miles and they burned out again before 55,000 miles. They both burned out within two/three days of each other. I took it into the dealership and they weren't useful at all....
View 19 RepliesWe are newer to hybrids. We purchased a used 2012 prius approximately 1 year ago. Within the past year, we have replaced the headlights approximately 6 times. Last month we replaced both front lights and tonight, out of nowhere 3 lights burnt out (both headlights and 1 bright light). It was dark outside and we live in a rural area so we had to drive 90 miles with 1 bright and the 2 day time lamps.
We maybe have changed bulbs in other vehicles once every couple of years and this is a monthly thing with our Prius. They aren't cheap so it's frustrating. My husband has been changing the bulbs and he does not touch the glass.
I have a 2012 Prius and I like the DRL to stay on even when the Headlight are on or off. Currently if Headlights are turned on the DRL turns off and I would like the control to turn DRL on or off.
View 12 Replies2 months ago while driving both headlights (low) went out. Had to drive with my high beams on to get back to the house. Next day they worked again. 2 days ago both low lights went out again. My son checked and the bulbs are fine, the fuses are fine but the voltage meter says very low voltage with high resistance. What does that mean? I know there was a class action suit for the same reason for up to the 2009 model.
View 18 RepliesI bought this car new in 2010 and it's a level IV not Four as it is a 2010. I am about to replace my headlights for the 5th time after only having had these for about 3-4 months. The dealership says that things happen but I've never owned a vehicle where the headlights are constantly going out. The first 3 times that the headlights went out, the dealership replaced them. I replaced them this last time .
I don't believe it's the headlights as much as I feel that it has something to do with the car. They went out last night as I got into the car at night and when I switched on the lights, they flashed and went out. The high beams still work but the lows do not.
I noticed tonight that my low beams are both out, and they were both working yesterday. Fuse #19, a 40A in a cluster of two 30A fuses appears fine when I look at it AND my horn and backup lights work just fine too. In the owner's manual it say that fuse position #19 controls the low beams and the horn (which is working) and the backup lights. SO, that says to me the fuse is ok because the other items are working.
FWIW, I can use the high beams, but recognize they're on a different fuse anyway. Also, I replaced BOTH headlamps with new Sylvania bulbs about 6 months ago when one of them went out. Could both low beam headlamps have burned out at the same time???? Is there some other fuse that controls them both other than the #19 fuse inside the engine compartment? Could this also be a problem in the control stalk switch on the steering console?
