Prius (2010-12) :: Electrical Lighter Outlet In Center Console Stopped Working

Any possibility that there's an off switch that I accidentally hit?

View 1 RepliesThe cigarette lighter adapter inside the center console of my 2010 Prius (next to the USB/iPod and AUX plugs) does not appear to be working, although the adapter underneath the gear shifter works fine. A few weeks ago, I found some coins, which I keep inside that center console that had gotten wedged inside the cigarette lighter adapter cavity. It was after removal of those coins that I first learned that the adapter was not working (I tried a few different devices to make sure that it was the adapter itself not working).
From reading the web, it sounds like the fix may be as simple as replacing the fuse. From what I understand, the fuse is just above the emergency parking brake. If so, where do I purchase a new fuse and how much does a new fuse cost? Also, how do I know which fuse needs replacing? Is that in the instruction manual?
I just bought a used 2012 Elantra GLS with 24K miles. I tested almost every possible function of the car before I bought it however I didn't try out the 2 power outlets expecting them to both work on a car with only 24k miles.
Anyway, the center console outlet doesn't work. I'd like to check the fuse box first thing in the morning. I work night shift so I won't be able to get to it til then. Any other things I should look for?
I have a 2009 Prius with the Aux port in the center console. It has stopped working unless you jiggle the cable. Need to get a replacement?
View 4 RepliesIn my 2007 SF Ltd 3.3L both the Cig lighter and front console power outlet keep blowing fuses. I've checked inside the of the sockets and they seem just fine. This is no big deal but I would like to charge my phone. What I should look at next?
View 11 RepliesMy 2010 II has two power sockets, one under the radio, and another inside the center console. The center console one does not work, whereas the other one does. I checked both the fuses, and even swapped the two fuses. I also checked several other fuses just to be sure. No fuses are blown and nothing changes by swapping the 2 power port fuses.
View 8 RepliesI'm working on replacing my center console with a wooden one. I'm having trouble getting the center box (under the arm rest) removed; I found the 4 screws in it but I'm having trouble getting the cigarette lighter / power adapter out. The outlet doesn't seem to push forward like, say, the one next to the shifter lever. Nor does it seem to unscrew. Am I missing something obvious?
View 3 RepliesI want to replace the cover on the center console cigarette lighter. I know how to access it from the inside of the console, but I don't know how to remove it. I don't want to break it.
View 3 RepliesHave an '07 ES350 non-ML audio system with navi. When out to the car today and found out the radio turned on when the car started but most of the audio control buttons on the center console no longer work. They worked fine the previous day. Here is a brief list of what does and does not work.
Power/volume : pushing it in to turn the radio on/off no longer work but rotating it does increase/decrease the volume
Tune/file : works fine
All other audio control buttons on the center dash for cd/am/fm/track control no longer work.
Sound from the speakers is fine.
The mode selector on the wheel works fine.
Navigation works fine.
As it is now, I am unable to turn the radio off since the power only responds to volume control. I am able to switch between radio and cd using the mode button on the wheel and the sound is fine. Could this be a fuse issue perhaps?
I have bought a 2007 Elantra recently, and I have noticed that power outlet/ lighter is not working. I have checked the fuse but it is ok. I have to access the back of the power outlet to check the cables but I do not know how can I do it. How can I access the back of the power outlet step by step. Looking for some pictures or videos ....
View 5 Replies08 LS600hL. The cigarette/power outlet in center console shorts out instantly. I have changed the fuse a couple times. Tested several different plugs. The ashtray and rear console power outlets both work perfectly. Nothing else seems to have any issues, radio, windows, climate, etc.
View 4 RepliesMy fuse controls cigarette lighter has apparently stopped working. I use it to charge my phone on trips. I had plugged in an inverter in an attempt to run a small fridge (for camping) and maybe that blew it out. The inverter didn't work but I could run it directly off the battery terminals. that was too much work and there were bears around anyway so I bagged the project.
View 9 RepliesI just bought my prius and I don't even have a hundred miles and I noticed the center console gets dirty quick.
View 1 RepliesThe power outlet in the tray under the front console in my wife's '08 RX400h has stopped working. I checked all three power outlet fuses indicated in the owner's manual and all are good (75 and 76 in the driver's side instrument panel fuse box and number 21 in the engine compartment (type B) fuse panel). Do I need to start ripping out the tray under the front console to find the problem?
View 2 RepliesSince I purchased my 2010 Prius about a week ago the center console top never slid completely forward. It slides to about where the cup holder insert is and stops. I've taken the cup holder out and it still stops in the same spot.
View 19 RepliesMy 2012 Prius makes noise in cold days. After careful examination I found the noise comes from the rubbing between the joystick cover and the center console bridge cover. If I press the joystick cover with my fingers, the noise will be significantly reduced or even eliminated. So I think if I put a layer of soft material there, I may be able to eliminate the noise. How to remove the center console bridge cover? Either pictures or video will be great.
View 1 RepliesMy sons 97 has a lot of electric probs, one of which is the cig lighter quit working recently. I checked the fuses (under hood and on dash), and wiring to both plug-ins.
View 1 RepliesThe lower 12v outlet just stopped working in my 04 RX 330. Will a single fuse controls this lower outlet as everything else is working. It is the outlet in the tray that site on the floor below the shifter. If not a single fuse then what will be the issue and what was the fix.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 camry le, but just now the power outlet doesnt work. I have checked multiple items in both the outlets, but none of them work. I checked the fuses, but they all look fine. The items work in other cars, just not this camry.
View 4 RepliesThey use to come and go now they're just gone. The cd player and everything lights up but the a/c quit all together last night.
View 14 RepliesAs some of you may be aware, I swapped out my OEM HU recently for an aftermarket one -- I show it in post 486 here -- and for various reasons, I decided to go back to stock. I got a pair of 70-1761 & 71-1761 wiring harnesses (because I have a 4-channel aftermarket amplifier) and in a lapse of judgement I tapped the dimming wire into the illumination wire.
Later that night, I noticed when driving with my headlights or parking lights on, the center console buttons don't light up. Specifically, the radio, home & other buttons don't light up and all & the climate control dial knobs are very dim. The ventilation buttons buttons of the HVAC all light up fine & my hazard & passenger seat belt light up fine.
I already check the instrument cluster dash light control & I notice the dial knobs react to it but are still very dim. The brightness of the instrument cluster doesn't match their brightness at all.
I went ahead an looked at my fuse box under the steering wheel column and checked the 10 amp PANEL fuse & it's not blown. For good measure, I swapped it out but the buttons still don't light up. I then checked EVERY fuse under the steering wheel column & non are blown.
In addition to that, I checked every 10 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box & non of them are blown.
