Having trouble with the EV system? Its suppose to shut down at 25 MPH. Mine on a regular bases shuts down at 10 MPH. Also shuts down when turning corners. Getting the run around with the Toyota Dealer.

View 3 RepliesI have noticed that if I push gas pedal while turning the corner, especially if starting to go uphill, there is significant vibration felt in the gas pedal. It happens every time, as I use the same road each day, for 6 months now. I recently had a rental prius for a weeks, and had the same experience, although not as pronounced as my car.

It start overheating where a triangle light would come in the left corner of the Dash display at the same time it would say check Hybrid system and that would happen after 20 Minutes of driving. If I still keep on driving after 5 minutes all the warning light come on and the car doesn't move. I replaced the water pump.but still the same thing.

It happened to me more that 6 or 7 times in the last 2 month, that when I try to start the car (it does not matter how long it has been off) some of the lights on the right corner goes on and the start bottom does not do any thing. I can't start the car. I called dealer they said it can be the remote control battery. I'm using the other remote and still have the same problem. Last time I had to jumper the car and then took it to dealer, they did not find anything wrong with the battery. I'm sure something is wrong with the small battery. What the problem is?
View 10 RepliesI have a gen2 2007 prius (right hand drive). Problem I am having is [INTERMITTENT]when pressing the ignition button to turn off the car. When I press the button the system completely shuts down instantly and rather roughly and nothing is active (the Key is still in). I then remove the key and the system starts up! I then press the button to stop the system, put the key back in and restart it. It then works fine - until the next time. Clock resets itself as does the climate controls. Not sure what to make of this. I have just recently replaced the 12v battery in the boot.
PS. Forgot to mention that when the system goes dead, if I fold down back seat and thump the floor panel above the battery under the seat the system goes on?? Any clues. Will take it to mechanic as soon as he gets back from holiday!
I was driving my 2004 VW Phaeton V8 (USDM) and stopped at a corner in the neighborhood. I then started going around the corner, when the steering just locked up for no reason and the battery light came on. I then shut down the engine and restarted it, making everything ok. What happened?!?

View 2 RepliesI'd been suspecting that the fuel pump on the car was going bad recently, and yesterday when turning a corner the engine shut off and it won't start back up. At first it would turn over a couple times, but now there's nothing at all. I've checked the timing belt, which is good, and I'm almost positive that there's no fuel getting to the engine. The problem is that I can't figure out where the fuel pump / relay is located.

View 1 RepliesI have a 1989 F250 4x4 with a 1990 460 EFI under the hood. As I was driving All of the sudden as i finished turning a corner the truck died. No Spudder like it ran out of fuel but more like someone had turned the key off.
I tried to restart it but i kept it short i was near other houses and it was 3am in the morning. On my way to work, I popped the hood, thinking okay we had a bad rain storm. Moisture in the Cap and rotor. Well went to pop it off Distributor is lose, oh joy. But the cap was dry but i did take out the rotor to clean the tip off and the cap too.. Still nothing when I tried to start it again.
I am getting ready to check for spark from the coil *hoping it just a lose coil wire*.. But would the Computer taking a vacation for life cause this.?
I've been experimenting with 'B' mode while commuting. While stopped at a light, the ICE never shuts down. Is that normal? It seems like it should, regardless of the drive mode. The ICE was fully warmed up (190 F). I believe the battery was fully charged, as well. It tends to stay charged while in B mode.
If I switch from Drive to B while stopped at a light, the ICE stays off until the car starts moving. But if it was in B mode already, it never shuts down when the car is stopped.
I haven't been able to successfully jump my 2010 Prius. It sat for about a month and the 12v battery is dead. I've connected everything up as described in the manual. I've kept the second car at about 2K RPM for about 5 minutes to charge the Prius. I am able to get the Prius to start up just fine, but as soon as I disconnect the jumper cables, it dies right away. I've tried getting the Prius engine to come on for several minutes, but as i understand it, there's no alternator, so that's probably not charge the 12V battery.
I've gone through this cycle about three times now with the same results. Every posting I've seen doesn't indicate anything special needed after you disconnect the cables. Is there something I'm missing?
Two weeks ago a large, industrial truck dropped a piece of bent steel pipe on the interstate in front of my 2010, 50k miles, Prius and (sadly) I was forced to hit or swerve into rush hour traffic and cause an accident. It tore up a good part of the cooling system and did some body damage. Of course I didn't know this at the time, but it began to overheat, so I pulled off the freeway and had it towed to a body shop. After about ten days, I got my Prius back.
View 13 RepliesThe inverter failed on my 2010 Prius. Toyota had recalled this on previous models, but not the 2010 Gen III.. When it fails the car shuts itself off while you are driving. Luckily I was not on the freeway but was still nearly rear ended and was lucky to get off the road with no power.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2012 Prius. It has twice shut down spontaneously when idling while in traffic. I have explained this, the Service Advisor said he had never heard of it. My question is: why is this happening? The car has been properly serviced. It never happened with my 2006 Prius.
View 12 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2010 prius with the navigation package. We go to the drive in movies quite frequently because it's cheaper and close to us. Every 30-45 minutes the prius will automatically shut off the battery. The interior lights turn on and the sound goes off.
We are kind of getting tired of getting dirty looks when this happens. So we're wondering if there is a way to take this setting off.
How do you warm up? I turn it on and it might start the engine for a few seconds then shut off... How do I know it's ready and warm?
