I noticed that it started recently and does it consistently... When I accelerate from a stop there is a creaking/popping noise that comes from the front of the car. It is difficult to pinpoint but you can make it do it every time and it only happens from a complete stop. My '12 only have 6k on it.
View 12 RepliesJust bought a new 'C.' 35k, and now 271k. After I come to a complete stop it makes a creaking sound like bad bed springs during hard and light breaking. I've baby this car, I love it, and I just want it to last for as long as it can. It's really annoying to hear every time after I come to a stop. Not before, not during -- right after (just like when you make a complete stop at the stop sign or red light, or just stopping in general).
This is supposed to be a brand new car. There's something wrong and it's not a normal thing for Prius's after you've start using it daily. I've never heard it before until today.
I wanted to pass along the results of a brake issue I encountered in my 2010 Prius (15K miles) and report to interested Prius owners how the issue was resolved.
Problem: In the last second (or so) coming to a complete stop I noticed a few light clunk type sounds, like something was loose up front. I never experienced any degradation in the braking performance.
I just bought a new 2015 prius a few days ago. After a couple of days of driving it around, I noticed this clunking noise that lasts about 2 seconds while the car's shutting off its gas engine when the vehicle is at a complete stop. It happens more frequently a few minutes after I started driving the car. When the car is coming to a stop and the 'EV' light is not on yet (only 'ECO' light is on), after the vehicle's made a complete stop, I start to hear this clunking noise (it almost sounds like the noise you hear when you press down your emergency break).
After this noise, I feel the vibration and hear that the gas engine's shut off. I talked to the dealership and they hopped in to hear that noise, and as always, it didn't happen. But as soon as I left the dealership, I hear it again. the car is normal when 'EV' light is on when its coming to a stop (no abnormal noise), but its only when the gas engine shuts off after the car has made a complete stop. And the noise is even louder when the vehicle is on a slope, either uphill or downhill.

I have some noise coming from the front suspension. It is a popping/sorta creaking noise. I hear it mostly when turning, but sometimes while going straight. It is not a grinding sound, nor is it a high pitched sound. I took it to my mechanic, but they drove it and could not replicate the noise. They inspected the front end, and said everything looked fine. But I still hear the noise. The car has a little over 40k miles on it. No problems with the tires...no irregular wear, and no wandering. I looked at the front end, and didn't find anything obvious. I cannot replicate the noise just by pushing on the fenders up and down.

Iv got a '12 Golf R and lately when I come to a complete stop I hear 1 single popping sound right before I reach 0 mph. It doesn't happen at any other time that I have noticed. What that could be? Where I can get a replacement Battery Cover?
View 3 RepliesSo I replaced the front strut and the popping is still there. When I removed the old strut it seemed like that would be the problem as there isn't any play in the ball joints and tie rod end.
View 12 RepliesBack in June I replaced all 4 brakes and rotors. Now all of sudden I hear a loud grinding noise in the front end only when I'm braking to a complete stop.
I took all 4 tires off and then took off the pads. The pads and rotors are all still brand new and have very minor normal wear. Also the calipers still look good.
I then put everything back together and went for a test drive. The grinding noise is still there. It's very loud and only when I come to a complete stop.
I've been noticing that when I brake more responsively, I feel a bump/notch right before a complete stop. It feels like something that has to do with the transmission.
View 6 RepliesI have had this for a year now. When I first heard it, I thought someone threw something at my vehicle. I would stop then be at the light then about a few seconds to a minute it sounds like a solenoid kicks out or kicks in... its pretty loud, my passengers even question it. I have taken it to the dealership 7 times now and I am getting frustrated as they do not hear anything each time. As I drive with them it doesnt do it... it seems it does it sporatically... Sometimes it does it after I have exited the vehicle and walking off, it goes through its normal electrical noises then clunk clunk... Strange. I have recorded a sound clip but they said they still have to hear it themselves and they believe it has something to do with the elecrical breaking system but they dont want to swap it out as its an expensive part as they want to make sure of it first... I think I am going to take it to another dealer..
View 8 RepliesI recently replaced the brakes on my '99 Passat with all new rotors and pads. I used Mintex pads in front, as recommended by Adirondack Auto Brokers, and after a couple thousand miles, they are all broken in. The car stops fine and the pedal feels good, but there is always a groaning/vibration/creaking right at the very end of the stop. Nothing unsafe or a problem, but just annoying. It is only when the car comes to a complete stop at the last 6 inches of motion. If I let the brake pedal up slowly from a stop, it will also do it. What can I do to get rid of this, or is it from the pads and I just have to live with it until they are replaced?

View 7 RepliesThis auto has 143,000 miles on it. I recenty noticed a creaking noise from the left front when accelerating from a dead stop. The shop I have used for 15 years said that the motor mounts are deteriorating and should be replaced. I trust the guy but would like to avoid the $1,400 repair. There are no symptoms other than the ocassional noise.
What is the downside of ignoring his recommendation? What other symptoms can I expect if I delay the repair? Can this be a serious safety issue? I plan to keep the car for another two years unless I bite the dust first or the engine falls out.
Just purchased a 2010 ls with 20,000 miles on it. Brakes make a popping noise when coming to a stop. Not all the time, seem to get worse as brakes get hot. Have had to dealer twice they have resurfaced rotor, bled system put new pads. Still have noise my service manager opened a trouble in the lexus system and called Atlanta. They said this is characteristic of this car. I drove a couple of other ls cars and did not hear the noise. Not sure where this is going to end up. I saw where the brake actuators where changed on the 07,08 and 09.
View 14 RepliesDriving 2012 Elantra with 29K on the Meter in AZ with temps at 105 degrees. I am getting a clicking clunking noise. Dealership said Strut mounts and replaced them. Drove it off the lot and the noise was still there. Wont go back to that dealership. Creaking clunking noise more frequently now and has shifted from the passenger side to the driver side predominantly. End links? Axles? Brake assembly, Hub? I first heard it when I went over a speed bump at 3-5 mph. Now it can be heard upon acceleration-deceleration, deceleration in neutral with brake only gets the loudest clunk on the Driver side. Ultimately its now constant on turns, bumps, rough roads & even smooth roads while changing lanes. What is causing this.

As I was closing my front driver's side window this afternoon I heard a pop or bang, and I noticed the window was closed, mostly, but it didn't fit right and the top rear of the window was out of the frame, up above where it should be, and the front, sloping portion of the window was below where it should be.
I put it up and down a few times, and eventually managed to coax it back into position, but it didn't stay there when I opened and closed the window again. It feels to me like whatever connects the glass to the motor and gizmoss that lift it up and down has broken or come undone.
I fear that it is a dangerous condition, because the window might pop out completely at high speed. Unlike the last time I remember having a car with a window disconnected from its mechanism (the 60's or so), we no longer have window frames to make sure they stay in place when the machinery breaks. Also, it has always seemed to me that the car's aerodynamic shape puts pressure on the doors and glass at highway speeds.
Anyway, I'm going to get this in to the dealer as soon as possible, but I wanted to ask:
Am I paranoid not to want to drive it at speed until I get it fixed?
I have a 2002 Passat Auto 1.8T, and everytime I slow down I have this loud creaking, or popping noise. It usually happens when the car is slowing down, or when I'm first starting off from a red light, stop sign, etc. It's annoying as hell! I searched the forums, and no one had this exact problem.
View 4 RepliesGot a 03 GTI VR6 and my drivers door kept on making this creaking/popping noise(it is very similar to the creaking noise of a old wooden door or the sound you hear in horror movies but for a lot shorter duration). The sound seems to come up when I accelerate, break take off from a complete stop. I took the car into the dealership and they torqed some bolt on the hinge and the creaking went away. Not a month later the passenger door develops the same creaking. The dealer tries to torqe the bolt on the hinge again and they say it cant be done and that their body shop needs to replace the hinge. They paint a hinge for me and put it on but don't get the door adjustments right so I get a lot of wind noise. Finally they adjust the door right and all is well.
A while later the drivers door starts creaking again! I went to another dealership and did an oil change while I was away on a trip to Toronto and the service technician said he could lubricate the door gasket and that this will take the creaking away. So he did. Now granted that has taken the creaking away but after some rain and 2 car washes the creaking came back in full swing.
I call the dealership to set up an appointment and they refuse to look at the door saying that as far as they are concerned the vehicle is up to manufacturers specs and that they will need to get a VW rep to look at it. In the mean time I call the vw customer care which tells me that they contacted the dealer and that the dealer beleves that the car is up to manufacturers specifications and that the noise I am hearing is normal and that all the cars have this noise.
Now I owned an 02 Golf GL 2dr and never heard that sound. It's been a month and a half and neither the dealer or vw customer care have called to inform me when the VW area rep. will be coming to have a look at the issue. It looks like I hit a dead end with having my issue acknowledged and looked at. Is this really a standard noise on the mk4 2dr platforms ? How I should pursue this issue ?!? Anything ?!
This is driving me insane. I get popping and static from the front right speaker in my PIPA. It happens with the radio off. I can't make any sense of it. Happens typically at 30+ MPH. I know I will go into the dealer and they won't be able to duplicate it.
I have installed the nav bypass, but I don't think that could have any affect on it. I have also had side view mirrors and illuminated door sills installed. None of these have anything to do with the audio system.
I bought a new 2012 Elantra in March. Every so often I get a strange vibration through the brake pedal when I'm at a complete stop (red light/stop sign). It happens intermittently and I can't narrow down any exact cause. It happens when the engine is cold, fully warmed up, A/C on, A/C off, only been driving for a few minutes or driving for a few hours. No system lights come on. I've taken the car to the dealer twice and discussed this with them. They've not hooked it up for any diagnostics as yet. I don't think it's a vacuum line, engine or transmission issue because it is intermittent. I also don't think it's a defective engine/transmission mount. Could it possibly be the ABS module?
