We just bought a new Prius II (2013) 6 days ago and had rain. We noticed condensation in both the front headlight and back tail light. This is under the plastic covering. This doesn't seem right. We searched and found a class action suit for the previous generation prius.

Recently discovered condensation in my front passenger headlight. The Lexus dealership initially scheduled me for a repair and indicated that my Platinum extended warranty would cover it. However, later received a call and indicated that it would not.
I see that a class-action lawsuit was filed for a similar issue with the 2nd generation (2004 to 2009) Rx series and recalls were eventually sent out.
I do not want the condensation to progress and short circuit my headlamp.
I've had an issues with the drivers side light fogging up after damp nights or rain. The dealer replaced it under a TSB but it is still happening I've checked the 3 seals (low beam, high beam, small light on top) and replaced the high beam just to make sure. I'm about to replace the HID in hopes that moisture is getting in through it but for some reason I don't think so. The passenger side is fine and Yaris parked right next to it is fine also so I don't think this is "regular"condensation.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 prius that right after purchasing I found to have the condensation in the headlight problem, the dealer advised to replace the whole headlight assembly to avoid damage to the generator so I did. I did not have it done at the dealer due to the cost but at a prius certified mechanic at another location. Needless to say when he installed the headlight something was not done right and as a result the amber parking light is not coming on when the rest of the headlights are turned on.
I didn't notice this for a while and then when I did I neglected to get it fixed while under warranty for the labor. The strange thing is the light flashes when I lock and unlock my door, just won't come on with the other headlights. I tried replacing the bulb when I replaced my HID today but still the same result.
At 4800 miles I noticed condensation, moisture, or water in my tail lights assembly , I took it in for my first check up, provided pictures, the engineers at lexus said this was normal. I said mosture causes corrosion, may cause a short becauce water is a conductive element, and when it dries it will leave contaminates on the inside of the lights, they said all cars have this issue. I explained the my last 8 cars did not have this issue and I have put aftermarket headlights and tail lights on 2 my cars and they did not have this issue. Well the coversation didn't go well, I said if its so common how come its not in the manual, or a disclaimer on the car, what if I told buyers on your lot this was a common issue. I closed with letting them know it was time to let this be known. I also said just like the headlight issue's they will have to do something. The next day they called me and said they would change out the lights this one time. I am sure this not the last time this issue will be seen, the engineering at lexus is just too proud and hate to admit when they have a bad designed until law suits or deaths happen.

I drove it home in the rain and when I parked it I noticed bad condensation in the driver side tail light.I have never noticed this before and do not no if it was there when I bought it. Anyways, I did some research about the issue and I found that it is a common problem. I have read that it is normal because it is vented and others say take it to the dealer and get it fixed?

There's been some snow and ice lately and I'm wondering if that's what caused it.
Is there anyway I can get rid of it? Is it from the water getting through the gaskets/seals?
I just got some condensation in my driver side tail light.... It just rained heavily and then I washed it BC I just got the opti coat done.... Wanted to see the opi work!!!! Anyways now I have this condensation....I have the dark cherry red non led.... I have the JL stealthbox installed... Never happened before had the car about a year now?
View 12 RepliesThere is water condensation (not much) behind the section of my drivers side headlight assembly where the turn signal is located and it REALLY bugs the hell out of me. The only way I could think it got there was when I was washing under the hood. The good news is the turn signal socket is easy to access and remove.
View 4 RepliesBack in July of last year, I installed the OEM foglight kit and replaced the lightbulbs with a pair of yellow Luminics JDM 55w H11 bulbs.
A few months later when it would rain or snow, condensation began appearing on the inside of the foglight lens on both sides. It would burn off when I left the foglights on for a while, but would reappear shortly thereafter. The driver's side would generally stay clear most of the time but the passenger side would always have moisture on the inside.
Then, a few months ago, the driver's side bulb seemed to burn out. Today, when I took them apart to reinstall the clear lightbulbs, it turns out that fluid (it actually looked like windshield washer fluid) had gotten inside the connector and shorted it out, actually melting some of the plastic to the contact. It took a while, but I was able to scrape off enough of the plastic from the contact to get it to work with the JDM bulb again.
I had the headlight replaced in my 2008 Toyota Prius and now after the first rain condensation is building up inside.
View 11 RepliesRecently completed a six-hour drive and noticed right headlight--high and low beams--and right amber marker/signal light were off at night. Left or driver's side lights worked perfectly. Tried switching on and off and re-starting car with no different results. Parked car at home with intention of trying repair, next day. Next day, they were working fine! Fortunately, we were close to home when this happened and it has not happened, since. What happened to make these lights go out on one side and, one day later, come back? Would like to prevent from happening again.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2013 III with 8k on the clock and discovered a few hours after washing it there was moisture in both of the tail light assemblies. It evaporated several hours later, which made me wonder if the assemblies were vented instead of sealed. Do they are sealed or vented?
View 4 RepliesSo the wife and I went and visited a friend Saturday-Sunday in Atlanta and we had our University of Alabama car flags on the Prius all weekend. Well apparently the flags angered a local and someone busted out the Prius' passenger side tail light.
My question is this: Would one of the tail light assemblies that is sold on Ebay Motors/Amazon be an exact OEM fit? I would like to avoid purchasing directly from Toyota...
So I've been using the rear window spray a lot since it's been snowing and the salty water/snow/air has covered the rear window a lot and I've been notice water dripping into the rear when I open the hatch but previously thought it was just some snow that melted in/around the hatch area and was dripping. Today I noticed both tail lights that are on the hatch have condensation in them. When I popped the plastic covering on the hatch that you use to replace the bulbs, I noticed there was the blue spray fluid. So I removed the two tail light and I can't seem to figure out how to get the bit of water out of the white and red parts. Do the lens come off any way? I now realize the leaky rear spray thing is a common issue and just ordered the two stupid 50 cent pieces that costs 31 with shipping from ECS
View 2 RepliesI have a 1995 Chevy k1500 Silverado Z71, I am having problems with my tail lights where when my headlights are on and I hit the breaks the driver side tail light completely turns off, if I use the left blinker it blinks very fast up till I hit the breaks. When my headlights are off they still don't work properly but legal enough, the left blinker blinks in between fast and slow and when I use the brakes the left side works but very dim, the wiring is all original never tampered with, all I did was put aftermarket tail light covers on it which shouldn't affect anything. The problem usually comes and goes but this last time it lasted for 2 months and now everything works perfect, the problem will be back and I'm afraid I'll run out of luck and a cop will finally notice it.

What would be a close color match to my LED parking light which looks sort of bluish? The new parking light LEDs are 6000K color temperature.
I have a 2000 grand prix. The headlight s & tailights are constantly full of condensation. How can I remove the condensation & prevent it from reoccurring? I already replaced one of the tailights & same problem. My moms equinox has same issue. I've heard using hair dryer to dry lights out. Is that safe?
View 3 RepliesI have water in my Jetta's tail lights and its really annoying. I just had them both out on the weekend and checked out the foam gaskets and they were both fine but i replaced them with an older pair I had that looked in even better shape but basically the same condition...
Rained pretty hard last night and now there is like more water in them then before... I made sure I tightened them down good because they were not that tight when I originally took them off.
There is water condensation in my spare tire well and making my carpet wet and starting to fog up my rear windows..
I get it every now and then in the mornings. Now I know I can just turn on my headlights and it goes away. But it's a brand new car.
I have xenons. Just wanted to see of this is common or not. Dealers solution was just that. Turn headlights on.
I have condensation inside my driver's side headlight on my 06 Passat. fix? New seal? Etc....
