Just recently my Prius has been making a clicking noise when turning right and braking at the same time. It only happens during a right while braking and not while stopping straight or left. I only have 27K miles on it. I'm not due for an oil change for a couple thousand miles and was going to wait until then to mention it to the dealer.
View 18 RepliesThis morning I went thru a known rough patch on the road and was applying light pressure on the brakes as usual (EV doing about 20 mph). Once the wheels started bumping, a loss of deceleration occurred as expected but what I did not expect was a fairly fast clicking sound (about 30Hz). I *believe* it sounded like the click that is heard when the traction battery is engaged in READY mode, but I'm not completely sure. Where it came from since I was using the A/C and rag chewing on the ham radio. The clicking subsided once I lifted the foot from the brake pedal and reapplied the brakes. No indicator lights came on and the car continued behaving normally.
View 3 RepliesJust finished my second week in my PIP and I started to notice a clicking noise everytime I press the brake. Even if I'm stopped in my garage I still hear it. Not sure it was there from day 1 and I just didn't notice because I had the SAT cranked up or if it's recently started.

View 14 RepliesEver since I had my Prius in the dealership for the most recent brake recall I noticed a noise (which is hard to describe, something like a muffled clicking) when turning and braking at low speed. If I let my foot off the brake the noise seems to go away. This seems to be happening on both left and right turns.
View 19 RepliesI just noticed that when I am taking a hard right turn such as getting on the freeway or exiting, I hear random clicking noises in rapid successions in random intervals. the traction control alarm also lights up when this happens. is this normal? it sounds like relays are going crazy. I have not tried left turn yet since there isn't many opportunities around.
Clicking happens under hard cornering which in turn causes TC light to come on and when still under acceleration.
Brought mine to the dealership they can't find the knocking noise. I asked the technician to Test drove it but still can't find the problem. Technician on the passenger side and we test drove it. He was able to hear it, but can't confirm if its coming from the pads or rotors. Its pretty anoying when driving at night when the roads are quiet. You can hear it even with windows close.

2010 Prius II with 50k miles now.
I have a 2010 Prius which I have had for a couple years. I get this strange noise from time to time that happens while braking. It starts, it will do it for a while, and then go away. When it's doing it, It will also happen after I turn my car off when the engine does it's shutdown phase. Occasionally, when my car is not moving and the engine is off, if I push my brakes it will do it too.
The noise comes from the driver side, by the firewall. the noise is a loud rachety sound, and it does not sound healthy or normal. I took my car to the Toyota dealership 3 different times explaining what was going on, but since it is random in when it happens, they have always told me everything looks normal. (of course I am out of my 1 year warranty too I got when I purchased it used.)
Is this noise something I should be worried about? What it is? Last thing I want to do is burn out some component of my car when I can save it now.
I noticed that every time I hit my brakes, I heard a clicking sound and a little bit feel at my shifter lever. I found same issues on the Sonata forums but I just wanted to know if we elantra users had the same problems like me. Its annoying & I don't find it normal. What can be done ????

The Noise: As I brake harder to the final stop I hear a grind/bump noise. It is hard to describe. It is abrupt and quick. I don't believe it affects the braking just annoying and doesnt sound normal.
I was going on a trip and checked the oil before I left, I was about 2 quarts low. It's only been 5,000 miles since my last tune up.
Took it to the dealer today to have a clicking noise and also had them look for oil leaks, (Prius parks on a gravel drive)
Service manager said it's probably burning oil.
I'd really like to do a compression test to determine if I have worn rings or bad oil valve seals. Latter would make me feel better.
I bought a used Certified Prius with 49k miles on it. I noticed when accelerating (and the display shows that I am using the ICE but not so much that it shoots up into the "Power" portion on the far right) that the there is a clicking noise coming from the front passenger side of the car.
It sounds very much like this:
I don't hear it when only the electric motor is running, and I don't hear it when I really punch it and the power meter is completely filled up. Its more when the power meter is in the middle of the display and the ICE kicks in and I am slowly accelerating.
I hear this clicking/ticking noise on the driver side front wheel or somewhere there whenever i reached 40mph and up. Car drives straight and no weird anything, just the noise.

As I was driving home (back roads and interstate), I heard a clicking noise every time I hit the brakes. I do not hear this noise when I back up and brake, only when the car is in drive and I am braking.
View 3 RepliesWhen decelerating and braking, there is a strange clicking noise, and it seems to be coming from the brakes in some way on my 2002 Accent. It does sound like a metal clicking. Steering doesn't affect it, it happens on a corner or on the motorway. The only way to stop it is accelerate. The clicking is faster when the car is going faster, and slower when the car is going slower. The brake pedal isn't vibrating or anything, and I cant actually feel it.
I am certain this is a braking issue as it only started just after I got new brake pads about 2 months ago. It is not transmission related or anything like that. I have had some suggestions about axle's and CV joints but I doubt it's either of those as they are in good condition, and as I said, this started directly after having new brake pads installed!
2002 Ford Focus SE Mileage: 140000
Symptoms: When turning right, especially at low speed while braking, it makes this rapid clicking noise, disappears once you let go of the brake.
In the past when it made this kind of noise, usually goes away after I made sure the brake pads clips are securely clipped around the caliper, but it's not working this time. No noise while braking going forward or turning left. Seems to be worse at lower speed and any right turn can bring on the noise, does not have to be a full-lock turn.
So far what I've done: Made sure the brake pads clips are secured (horribly designed), lug nuts are torqued at correct spec, no obvious broken linkage, bar, arm, coil, or CV boots under quick inspection.
The other day I reversed into a parking spot, and noticed as I was braking and reversing a loud clicking sound is coming from what seems the front driver side engine area. Every time I would brake it would click. I read of this problem on the Gen 6 and apparently there is a TSB for the front Rotors needing to me re-machined? The funny thing is this only happens when I reverse and brake, but it only happens randomly.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius 2, with 35K miles, and have noticed a clicking sound in the steering when hitting a small bump or hole in the road. If the car is parked, I can rock the steering wheel back and forth, and hear a clicking sound. I do not remember the noise being there until recently.
Also the radio reception seems to have gotten weaker. If I am on a trip out of town, it now seems that I am looking for stronger stations frequently, as static interferes. I had the car to the dealer for this a few months ago, and they said they could not duplicate the problem
This car is about ready to drop off the warranty, and would like to have Toyota pay for the repair if it is needed.
The car is under 25k miles. I have owned for less then 2 years. Recently, I notice a noise coming from the rear every time backing out the drive way. The sounds louder in the winter**. I have gone to 3 different dealers and non of them offered a remedy. Some say they cant reduplicate the issue so I scheduled a test drive with a tech. Was able to duplicate the issue, however the tech says its normal ( pad shift over time) and told me a lot of the newer carmy has the issue. I'm exhausted from going dealer to dealer and no remedy issue. They all said the same thing "its normal & there's nothing they can do".
