I got "check Hybrid System" error with all sensors are yellow on the dashboard of my 2011 Prius with 80k odometer reading. Currently no Hybrid system, only petrol engine works.
View 2 RepliesFirst off I have a 2010 with about 11,000 miles and it has been running great since I got it. This morning I was greeted with the "Yellow triangle" and the "check hybrid system warning". The car started fine and I pulled out of the garage under battery as usual and then the engine kicked in also as usual, everything seemed normal except for the warning lights. Since I have a long commute I just took my wife's car and got to work and did a forum search on this issue. I called my wife and had her turn the car on and off three times and she said it cleared the yellow triangle and check hybrid system but it still had the check engine light on. She also said the car seemed to be running fine and shes driving around town in it. I couldn't find anything on the check engine light. Is it ok to drive it?
View 3 RepliesYesterday, started it up, began backing down the driveway, controlling speed with a little pressure on the brake. There was momentary weirdness, like the brakes had sort-of let go, then gripped again. And then got the warning "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" and a yellow triangle (inverted?) with exclamation mark.
I tried maybe 3 restarts, but the warning persisted. Phoned the dealership, booked-up Saturday, but they said they'd (commendably) squeeze it in. So we brought it in, when they eventually got to it they read the codes, cleared them, test drive, said it appeared the computer(s) "lost contact" momentarily, and it seemed ok.
I got in and started driving home, down the back lane first. Car started making a VERY strange buzzing sound, coming from under the hood. By the end of the lane I decided I better circle back to the dealership, pulled in at the curb in front, left it running and raised the hood, the hood support rod was loose, laying over the engine, doing a dance.
So I bought a 2010 Prius IV from a nearby dealership today. I had test driven it twice before buying, but when I was taking it home I got the error "Check Hybrid System," and the car slowed to a stop. I had to call the dealership to come tow it back and it's being serviced right now. I'm mostly venting, but also more than a little concerned. I checked the orange clip/wire in the back and it was connected properly. What this could be and how big of an issue it really is?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius with around 115,000 miles.
I have the following warning lights on:
1) Check Engine
2) Yellow Indicator, looks like exclamation point inside a circle inside parenthesis.
3) Red Multi-information display (exclamation point inside a triangle)
4) Hybrid System Warning Light on display screen, looks like exclamation point through a car
The engine cranks up just fine and drives forward and backward in the driveway fine. Battery level indicator is blue (see image). I checked for turbulence in the inverter reservoir with the engine off and fluid was flowing.
I checked the 12V battery (using the car's measurements by holding Display and turning lights on and off 3 times) and its value was 12.1 volts without engine and A/C on and 11.8 volts with them on.
The fan in the back right passenger seat is always on now though (I don't remember ever hearing this fan noise before), regardless of engine on or not, even though it's only about 80 degrees outside and it's been sitting idle all day and all last night. It comes on pretty much immediately when the power button is pushed.
I had a triangle with an exclamation point (not red), a check hybrid system message, and an airbag indicator come on in my car in February. I thought the triangle with the exclamation point was originally yellow but my eyes could be playing tricks on me. It now appears orange.
In February, the dealership told me that some kind of rodent apparently chewed through wiring containing the airbag tether and hybrid system wires. I was told this is a 3K+ repair and was advised to make a claim against my insurance. I am working away from home until June, so I was going to wait until I go home to have my preferred dealership handle the repairs.
Does driving solely on the gas system harm the Prius? Does the car have both yellow and orange triangles with exclamation point warning indicators? By driving the car in the condition it is in, am I harming it and is the possible change in color of the indicator a sign of a worsening problem?
I added fog lights, and I removed the fuse box and body computer to do so. I disconnected the 12V battery for most of the work, but later I did pull a couple of under-the -dash connectors with the battery connected.
Now I get the screen saying "check hybrid system", "don't drive". I've tried the turn-the-key-on-three-times technique, and I disconnected the battery for 30 mins. Still the message persists.
Using my Torque app, I can clear the ECU fault and the message disappears. However, when I start the car the next time, the message is back. Everything else seems ok.
I checked all the cabin fuses and most of the engine compartment fuses. I took everything apart again, and double checked the fit of all the connectors under the dash. It seems that I have thrown a code which keeps popping up every time I turn the ignition on.
I purchased a Bluetooth ODB II scanner off of Amazon which had all positive reviews, plugged it into my 2013 Prius this AM and the car immediately started beeping with the "Check Hybrid System Stop The Vehicle In A Safe Place" error. The car is functioning just fine but I'm concerned.. Is this normal? Should I have not plugged it in while the engine was on? I want to see if I can clear the error but I'm afraid to plug the module in again...

My car dashboard display come ORANGE TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION MARK light and message "HYBRID SYSTEM CHECK". Car has no problem in drive, every thing works but display computer (check consumption graph Charging wheel etc.) does not show.
When I press start, display button shows charging graph consumption etc, only for few seconds and go to msg check hybrid system.
I just bought a used 2012 Toyota Prius iTech from a country town 3 hours away. About an hour into the drive home, the display informed me to "Check Hybrid System" and then "Check PCS System". The car continued to function for a little while, then eventually lost acceleration, so I pulled over. I turned it off and on again; the warning light remained but the car started and continued to work, but soon after I lost acceleration again. This happened one more time.
Then I Googled the problem and discovered that you could "turn it off and on again three times to reset the computer". I did this and the problem disappeared and did not resurface for the remainder of the trip, and has not happened again since.
I`ve got 2006 prius , the car worked fine , there was no problem.
Today , while driving , Red exclamation mark , yellow exclamation mark appeared on dashboard , and red car with sign on the main LCD screen.
i un plug the battery and change the speedometer from US to CANADIAN. on a 2010 prius. Now the car dont start .The hybrid orange symble lights up and Check hybrid system shows on my desh.

The car starts and moves, but I'm unsure if I should drive it to the dealer two miles away without doing any further damage to the vehicle or have it towed. The car has 130000 miles and is serviced every 5000 at the dealer with all recommended maintenance performed.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2013 Prius Persona with about 5,300 miles on the vehicle. Just recently had the 5,000 mile service taken care of at a local toyota dealership. The very next day I tried to start my vehicle with no prevail. My instrument panel indicates "check hybrid system" (!) the car will not start, nor will it shift into drive or reverse, only into the neutral position. Made several attempts to turn vehicle on and off and tried to jump start. Still no luck. Had the car towed back to the dealership. Mechanics are still trying to identify the problem. What may be the cause?

View 7 RepliesI have this Prius involve in a wreck on the driver side. Ever since the wreck the hold beeps continuously, "Check Hybrid system turns on". I drove it couple of time every things was fine ( see the video) now nothing comes on. After the wreck I had to jump every time I wanted to start, but now nothing even after multiple jumping attempt, the battery used to die because the brake like always stays on and as soon as I start the car the horn keeps on being non stop.
View 9 RepliesI cleaned out hybrid battery cooling fan today, not too bad after 160K . However, as I test drove prius the Triangle of death and "Check Hybrid System" message pops up.
Drove 13 miles back home, battery charged good. No power consumption data given on hud. Rechecked fan connection and looked over area. All looked good. I dont think ICE was running during drive home. Tested 12 volt=good. Disconnected 12 volt and orange plug. Reconnected. System reboots and seems Ice goes through warm up. Even put in power mode and it roars. Scratching head on this. Coincedence or maybe I should have disconnected 12volt before disconnecting cooling fan?
Just got a "Check hybrid system" message and the triangle of death is on my 2010 Prius -- but I can still drive it...
Toyota's Emergency Response Guide says this error is triggering by the ground fault monitor that is connected to the 12v aux battery.

My 2010 Toyota Prius III has 37400 miles and I've had it since 2010 April.
My ScangaugeII didn't find any OBD2 diagnostic codes
So a little over a month ago, I was driving my 2010 Prius (about 42k miles) when the Check Hybrid System light came on. I lost power and my car was stuck on the road, as I was unable to get it into neutral. So I called a tow truck and was towed to my local dealership. The dealership ran some tests, thought it might have been the throttle body. They switched my throttle body with a loaner prius to see if this fixed the problem. The new throttle body worked in my car and my throttle body was put into the loaner and functioned fine. Then they ended up fixing a TSB for the electronics in the car. I was told the problem was resolved and I could pick up the car about a week later.
After picking up the car a week later, before I could even drive away from the dealership, the Check Hybrid System warning came on again. I talked with the service manager and left my car to be fixed again. They checked all the systems and were still unsure what the problem was. Eventually they made sure all the connectors were properly seated and test drove the car and ensured the problem was gone. About two weeks later, I was told the car was fixed and I could pick it up.
After picking up the car, I was still unsure the problem was fixed, but I was told that was all I could do. After having the car, for about a 1.5 weeks I was on the highway. Once again, the check hybrid system light came on and I lost engine power. Luckily, I was able to pull over from the left lane without causing an accident. Once again, I had the car towed to the dealer and now I am waiting to hear back from them.
A few days ago our 2010 with 87k became immobile with "Check Hybrid System" illuminated on dash. Dropped it off at the dealer who had it all day. Replaced the "transistor kit" part number 04899-47021 and blamed the failure on the recall. Recall was not completed. Wife felt a jolt while driving home but no warning lights illuminated. Next day she tried to start it and got that message.
Codes pulled were p3004 with info code 800 and p0ad.
I was driving, when out of the blue my car went into neutral, and the dashboard lit up. Then all of a sudden the light stayed on "check hybrid system". I pulled over to side of road. AAA towed me.
THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. NO warning.
