Prius (2010-12) :: Car Jerks When Letting Off The Accelerator
Jul 27, 2016
Our 2010 Prius jerks at speed of 15-20 mph and or when letting off the accelerator. I changed the spark plugs & filter. Also, cleaned out EGR tube, throttle body and intake manifold. thinking these might be it. These did make minor improvements, but the issue remains. No codes.

I have a 2010 prius with about 245k miles on it. I have recently noticed slight vibrations at speed of 15-20 mph and or when letting off the accelerator. I also noticed it goes away at higher speeds. I don't feel these vibrations when on battery or when coasting down a hill. I did an oil and filter change in March. I am planning on changing the spark plugs soon. What might cause a prius to jerk or vibrate?

I have been hearing a muffled thud or knocking noise often, especially when letting off of the accellerator when coming to a stop...almost sounds like some kind of bracket might be broken and some part is slapping against another. No particular consistency in the pattern of the sound...very strange. I had the car in for service to replace the stepper motor and the tech indicated he thought changing it would take care of it...it didn't.

I've got a pretty nasty driveline clunk when going over 40mph and letting off and reapplying the accelerator. The way I'd describe it is: when I let off, it feels like something clunks forward, and when I get back on it, it feels like it clunks backwards.
So far I've had the U-joints replaced, replaced the tranny mount, greased the slip-yolk several times, and just changed the rear diff oil (and found no broken teeth or excessive wear in the gears) and it still does it.
Since I don't have a sig:
2001 Ex 4x4 7.3L PSD
5" RC Lift (but the clunking was present before the lift)

04 explorer, When traveling under throttle the thing runs smooth, when letting off accelerator, there's a rumble from, what seems like, the rear of the vehicle, when I press the accelerator, it almost "clunks" and acts fine once it's under acceleration again. Should I suspect my rear end gears going out, or something simple like a universal joint.

So, I'm slowly but surely eliminating a terribly shaky front end on my 2002 F-250 7.3L 4x4. First was a new carrier joint on the front drive shaft. Didn't work much, but the shop said the darn thing was falling apart. Next thing I did was new wheel bearings and manual hubs. Less vibration for sure. But the last remaining issue, in terms of vibration, is that when I let go of the Accelerator going at any speed above 60 MPH, it makes a horrible horrible noise, and I could feel a vibration. It shakes the whole truck, but I can very noticeably feel it directly in the gas pedal. It's really only an issue during deceleration. What could it be??? Drive shaft U-joints? Torque Converter? Something else in the Front End? Something in the engine even?? I don't exactly have the funds to tackle every possible solution.

2005 ford f250 6.0 Started making this noise from front about a month ago, can't figure out what it is. Only happens when letting off accelerator or changing from P - D. The truck acts normal, seems to be louder when the truck is warm.

When I'm driving at Highway speeds, if I let go of the accelerator to coast and then reapply the accelerator, I get a jerking, bucking sensation. It's only at high speeds over 60 mph or so. I'm only coasting for a second or two, not long at all. Otherwise the transmission works well.

I have a strange issue that just started happening. A whirring sound comes from the vent in the back seat I believe which sounds like escaping Air. Not like the last 2 years I've owned it. At the same time I noticed that the accelerator now takes a second to engage after I hit the pedal from a stop every time. Furthermore the engine seems to be over revving, as if engine braking. I've restarted the car a few times. I've checked all the fluid levels.

I have a 2013 Elantra w/tech pkg (bought brand new) and I have about 106k miles on it. Today I noticed this strange issue where when I let off the gas, it's like the engine doesn't notice right away and continues to apply power. It's only a delay for about a second or so, but it's noticeable enough that I'm writing this. It's really odd and I don't know what to make of it.

Have had some issues with some intermittent clunking when I shift or let off the gas. It only clunks when shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 or when I am btw 1500-2500 rpms and let off the gas to coast a bit. There are times when it won't clunk at all or it does it all the time, I can shift fast or slow doesn't matter. The dealership I bought the car from couldn't find anything wrong on my last service. Also when I put the clutch in sometimes I hear a bit of a clunk as well. Also I notice moving the shifter from gear to gear when shifting feels very notchy, but most of the times its smooth.

Last week my 2008 Prius started making a faint beep each time I let up on the brake after a stop when I remove my foot off the brake. It also will make this faint beep when I let up on the brake even if the engine is not on. It is faint, nothing as loud as the beeps for seat belts or backup. The Prius is not experiencing any warning lights or any other noticeable problem and is running great.

After letting the car sit unused for about 4 days I now find my power button LED is orange not green as always. The display showed the main battery down to two purple bars but after a short drive its returned to normal.
The 12 volt battery is at 12.9 volts and everything else seems normal.

I have an 06 Prius. I bought it with a broken/leaking transmission about 3 months ago. I drove the car home and it sat for a few months, then I drove it into my garage to start working on it a few weeks ago. I just finished up with the trans swap this evening and I went to "start" the car to get the coolant circulating/blead, and the car would not start. I get nothing, I just get a blinking red light in the shape of a car with a key in the center.
I am pretty sure this is the immobilizer symbol. What can I do to reset/fix this? This is my first prius and I have not driven this one more than 50 miles so it could be something silly that I am just not familiar with. This is what I am doing...I get in the car, put the key in the key slot, and I push the brake, then I hit the power button...I get nothing, other than the blinking light on the dash.
I went back out to the car and messed around a little bit. When I put the key in the slot I get what I described above...nothing. But if I don't put the key in the slot, and just push the power button the display comes on but I am not able to shift into any thing other than park or neutral. When I am able to power up with out the key in the slot I get a red car with an explanation point going through it at the top left of the screen.
Then at the display just below the windshield most of the lights stay lit up. What does this point towards? Why would the car not try to go into Drive or Reverse? And what's going on with my key? The only two times I have driven this car i just put the key in the slot and it turned right on and I drove away, now with the key in it will not do anything.

2010 Toyota Camry xle v6. What is more accurate, miles to empty or the needle gauge. When I use certain brands of gas I notice that the car jerks when driving at all speeds. It's just a slight jerk nothing serious. The brand is Kwik trip gas. I find the the car runs best on 93 octane bp, Mobil, shell, or Cenex.

I bought a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5L and noticed the engine would jerk really bad. It felt like the engine was going to jump out of the vehicle. I notice it does it when I turn it on in the morning and when I am driving slowly out my lane way the engine jerks. I have dealt with this problem since last year and they have already replaced the transmission which has done nothing. I took it back to the dealership and the service manager told me that he has already had 4 of the same vehicles come in with the same problem and they realized that they had to re-set the computer in the engine so that the transmission computer and the engine computer are on the same page that they talk to each other so to speak. Since they re-set the computer we have had the vehicle back a week today and this morning the car jerked again. I am tired of constantly taking this vehicle in and being told they have a solution and then it is not fixed. How am I supposed to sell a vehicle to someone when it feels like you are being lifted out of your seat because of the JERKING!!!!!

2012 Elantra - 105,000 miles 6 speed transmission
Throttle seems to be sticking and causing engine to rev between shifts, and staying slightly on after I let off the gas
Engine continues to rev up uncontrollably for about 10 seconds after feathering the gas pedal (between shifts). If I floor the gas pedal and release it quickly, it closes the throttle and fixes the issue.
Thought it may be a sticky throttle body, sprayed a generous amount of Carb and Choke cleaner into throttle body...did NOT resolve the issue. Its a Drive by wire, so no throttle cable to blame or to clean.
Turns out, the accelerator pedal assembly it self, is not returning/springing back to "up" or closed position and is sticking during the first few degrees of travel. It is very dirty, and gold.
How to clean/lubricate this thing? Its plastic. Or should I just order the replacement? I hope the pedal isn't programmed to the car itself? shouldn't be...but you never know

My wife was driving our 2 young kids on the highway and the accelerator was making a loud clacking noise and then there was no response when pressing the accelerator. She managed to get to the shoulder. Mechanic says the engine is totally cooked (long block replacement). Only 32K miles and all scheduled maintenance done.

I have roughly 104k miles. The weather is trying to get colder. Lows of 45 highs of 80 right now. Last week I was accelerating on to the highway and the truck seemed to have trouble shifting. I hit the accelerator and it did not shift. It would continue to increase in speed but very slowly and would even tend to kind of sputter a little. My engine light came on and has gone off and on several times since then. This has occurred several more times and is always when I hit the highway.

I got into our car (2013 RX 450h) and the seat was completely pushed back. I had been the last (and only ) driver of our car and had not adjusted the seat. I managed to reach the brake pedal, started the car, pushed the L1 seating position and my seat re-adjusted. I then put the car into Drive and when I stepped on the accelerator, it would not move.
The parking brake was not on, there was nothing obstructing the car. I turned it off, turned it on again and it was then fine. I had last driven it 3 days prior, the battery was fine, the outside temperature was registered as 30 degrees, so not excessively cold. We park in a garage although it is not entirely closed off from the outside air.
Experienced this with the car no moving despite being in drive and stepping on accelerator?
