Prius (2010-12) :: Auto Climate Control Not Working Fine

When I press auto once it turns ON auto climate control. Why doesn't pressing the Auto button a second time turn AUTO off??

View 7 RepliesI have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that has the digital display for the climate control- which i am assuming is the auto climate control system that is talked about on here frequently. The problem is that the fuse for the climate control system continually blows, causing the display and all controls for the climate control system, to stop working. Put a new fuse it, blows again.
View 1 RepliesI have had my Santa Fe for 3 months now and have just noticed recently (due to the cold wet weather) that when it is raining my windscreen fogs up when the climate control is set to auto. This never happened in my previous car (VW Golf GTI). I always drive with climate control set to auto and temp set to 23 degrees C. When the windscreen fogs up I have to set A/C to on to demist it. The temperature is then totally different. I can only get a clear windscreen with A/C on, no matter what mode. E.g. If I just have front demister with no A/C then I fog up. If I have blowers set to windscreen and no A/C I fog up. Having A/C on with any mode is fine! When the windscreen is clear and I set the climate control back to auto then the windscreen fogs up almost immediately again.
This seems a bit rubbish to me. I would have thought that having the climate control set to auto is all that is required (like my previous car). I don't want to drive with A/C on when it is raining and auto when it is not. I just want to keep it in one mode.
When I am using "auto" climate control mode, AC is automatically turned ON. I am somewhat surprised about that feature and I always turn AC off as most of the time I do not need AC and there is no point to spend extra energy when it is not necessary. Is it necessary to turn it off in this case? Am I missing something? It may be that AC will not actually be used unless the car inside temperature is above the target temperature that has been set, in which case I could leave AC ON, but I could not find specific info on this subject in my user manual. Why it is working this way?
View 0 RepliesAbout 1x month, I get into the Prius C and want to start heat/ac. None of the buttons operate and if I press the "auto" button it will light up but not stay engaged. Overall, not a big deal. After a shift into drive and a few minutes of driving the system usually starts working. If I don't want to wait, I find that turning the Prius C off and on again usually resolves the issue. I am not concerned now, but wondering if issue may escalate as car ages.
View 19 RepliesI just bought 2011 Prius III on black Friday and still not familiar with auto climate. Everytime I press it on, the air flow will set to blow in foot mode so I press mode button to change it back blowing the air from the front. By doing that the auto climate control light is turn off. Can I use auto climate with air flow from the front vent instead of blow down to the foot?
View 14 RepliesLast November I had a left front end collision with another car. The other driver was at fault and their insurance covered everything. The car was in the shop almost 2 months.
Now it seems back to normal except the climate control randomly shuts off every so often. I usually leave it on Auto. After the car has been off overnight or sometimes just a few hours, I notice the climate control is off. After turning it back on, the temperature setting has been reset to 75. It happens about once a week. Doesn't seem to be related to outside temperatures.
Should I take it to the dealer for a check or back to the body shop? The body shop offers a lifetime warranty, but I doubt they could diagnose something intermittent like this.
I've had my prius for about 8 months now and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure how the climate control works. I just realized that one of the buttons I've been pressing is an air pollen filter. I've also recirculated the air and managed the fan speed with the up/down.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius and I leave the climate control on. When I start the car the AC will only work sometimes. I can run errands, where I make 5 stops shutting the engine off each time. It will be hotter then heck in the cabin and after starting the car the ac won't blow air out the vents. Sometimes I can shut the car off and restart it and then the AC will turn on. When it actually blows air, it's nice and cold. If the car is on and the AC won't work, I will turn down the climate control to the coldest setting and it still won't come on. But the next time I start the car the AC might work fine. To me, it seems like a relay or something electrical isn't turning the ac on when the car is turned on. Or maybe the blower motor is getting stuck.
View 16 RepliesThe buttons to change the temperature in my 2010 Prius don't do a thing... The temperature is cool-ish as long as you have the AC turned on, and stays the exact same as you increase the temperature until you get to 85 and it maxes out, then it starts to get warm. As soon as you go to 84, it's cool again.
View 14 RepliesI already know the climate control screen on my 2010 Prius gets scratched easily, but I noticed today that I also have many dust particles under the screen as well. I never touch the screen and I always take the car to the local car wash for cleaning. Is there any way to remove them or is this something I'll have to live with?
View 2 RepliesI usually set my climate control to 78 degrees and leave it on Auto, but whenever I leave the car for more than 5 hours then the climate control somehow resets itself.
The "Auto" light would stay illuminated for about 15 seconds, then it turns off and "Air Conditioner Off" flashes on the Nav screen. Then when I press the "Auto" button again, the climate displays 75 degrees. This has happened everyday for the last 3 weeks or so.
So today it was 101 and I figured I would put the AC on auto but when I set it to auto the temperature defaults to 72. Is this normal and can I change it? It seems like the climate control in auto mode go off of the outside temp, if hot outside blow cold inside and vice versa. What is the point to auto AC if I manually have to set the temp?
View 6 RepliesThere is an intermittent buzz coming from the center console of my 2010 Prius trim level 2. It seems to be coming from the climate control system. It lasts for about three seconds, and it sounds like a fan with a bad bearing or rubbing against something else.
The buzz occurs when starting the vehicle after it has been off for several hours, and intermittently while driving (maybe once every couple of days), and exactly one minute after powering off. It began occurring a few months ago.
Is there a difference in mpg depending on the climate control settings?
View 19 RepliesI need to select AC on when running in the automatic mode. I get from the manual that when I select Auto the system will maintain the selected temperature.
View 18 RepliesHow easy is this to do? I'm thinking about doing this to my 2003 Camry LE...
View 5 RepliesI just leased a 2014 XLE Touring. Car has been great so far but I noticed sometimes that I will have the Auto climate control on and it will shut itself off while I am driving.
Another thing I noticed is after I turn the car off and drive it later, it does not retain the previous climate control settings.
My '05 XLE has a small problem (I think). Had the car for just over a year and yesterday noticed that when I choose the defrost mode there is no indicator on the control panel to show it's in that mode. All the other function positions have indicator icons to show what mode is selected.
I don't use the defrost only mode very often and now wonder if it never worked since I've owned it or if there isn't an indicator for defrost mode. Isn't there an indicator for that mode?
I just noticed this the other day. The three climate control buttons on the right side of my steering wheel--fresh/recirc, front defrost, rear defrost--have stopped working.
The functions still work if I use the MFD display to control them. What this might be? Is there a separate fuse for these buttons?
I just purchased a Gen III Prius II (I am a Honda Insight convert). The question I have is... Is there a way to change the Climate Control Temperature and the Outside Temperature read outs to Celsius instead of Fahrenheit? I know pressing the MPH/km/h button changes the the speed, distance and fuel consumption, but not the temperature read outs. I prefer Celsius as that is what I was raised on.
