View 19 RepliesSeveral weeks ago my 2010 Prius (actually bough 8/09) started displaying an intermittent airbag warning light. This is the red one on the right side of the display. Brought it in to the dealer, as the warranty on the SRS system is 5 years. They charged me a diagnostic charge of $96.00 because they claimed that although the SRS is covered under warranty, the diagnostic system was not. They did the work, and should get paid, but I am still after Toyota to pay them, and refund me. In any case the diagnosed code was B1826, which is an open in the side squib left hand circuit. In other words, a poor connection, or one with more resistance than the computer expects to see. They recalibrated the system and claimed it was fixed. However, two weeks later, it's back again.
View 6 RepliesThe airbag warning light came on last week and stayed on for my hour commute home. Later on that same evening, I took the car out again, and the light was off. Stayed off for about 3 or 4 days and now comes on intermittently. I called the dealership today to try and set something up, and they said if if it's coming on intermittently, check under the seat for anything obstructing the airbag sensor and whatnot. I looked today and found nothing (I keep my car extremely clean) but none the less found no issue. The service advisor from the dealership also said that I need not bring it in unless the light stays on all the time. But I'm insisting on bringing it in in the next few days. I'm just concerned that either the airbags may inflate without cause, or may not inflate in the event of an accident. Should I wait until the light stays on? Going into the service department at my local dealer is always at least a 2 hour ordeal and they don't issue loaner vehicles unless they absolutely have to. I just don't want to waste my time.
View 20 RepliesLast night, my 2008 Prius was hit from the rear. The bumper was damaged as well as a few starches on the hatch. However the latch for the hatch was move forward so the hatch no longer latches. Also during the collision, my daughter's heavy backpack was throw against the back of the passenger seat with enough force to hurt her back.
The airbag warning light remains on along with the dash indicator saying the airbag is off. Does mean all the airbags are disabled? Can this be reset? The car will be professionally repaired but I still need to drive it until I can get it repaired.
My red airbag light on the instrument cluster is coming on intermittently. Off to the dealer to try to solve the problem. Not how I envisioned my first full day of ownership!!
View 11 RepliesMy airbag warning light came on yesterday in my new/used 2005 Prius Gen 2, and after a moment of thinking there was a a serious malfunction, I have deduced that it's because I had just put in an infant car seat behind the passenger seat. Evidently any pressure exerted against the passenger seat back causes the airbag warning light to illuminate.
View 19 RepliesI have a Toyota 2004 Prius and I have been having the airbag warning light on my dash for the past few days. I have 140K miles and do not have manufacturer warranty. What could it be causing it? Faulty seat weight sensor? Calibration issue?
View 15 RepliesDoes the car store a code if the airbag lights comes on and then goes off the next time i start it up.
View 4 RepliesA few weeks ago, a relative was riding in the front passenger seat and asked me why the light said "passenger airbag off." I had seen that on before and didn't think anything more about it as I rarely have a passenger. Called Toyota to login the problem as I was traveling that week and thought I would be out of warranty before I could get it to the dealer. That particular light was on for some days afterwards and then I forgot about it. Tonight I noticed that "passenger airbag off" is not lit, but there is a light saying "airbag off."
I turned the car on and sat in the passenger seat, and the light that came on for my aunt didn't come on. Just "airbag off."
This indicator light comes on intermittently. Eventually will go off on 07 Solara.
Odd thing seems to display just after passenger seat has been moved/adjusted or something medium weight placed on it.
Will reposition seat and check belt tensioner but, stays on for awhile.
After spilling coffee down emergency brake lever the airbag light intermittently stays on. OBD showed no codes.
Found a couple of recalls that deal with airbag problems. One messed with the wiring harness under neath both front seats. The old wires hung down to low. The 2nd added a cover to not allow liquid to get on the connector/airbag electronics. The airbag electronics connector is directly below the emergency handbrake lever.
My nephews 2002 had the carpet extended over the connector/airbag electronics and that was suppose to protect the connector from getting wet.
Found sticky coffee on connector/airbag electronics.
Used screw driver to pry up on console tray. Then removed 3 screws on both side of console. Disconnected battery then used contact cleaner on connector and electronic module. Took plastic lid from 42oz round container of oatmeal and used double side tape to secure over connector/electronic module.
Airbag light is off and connector/airbag electronics has better protection from spills.
my car is a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser with over 75K on it. My problem is two fold. First, recently the right rear turn signal light shorts out but only in the morning it seems. Because we've been getting a lot of rain in Nashville and the surrounding area, I suspect the high dewpoint and humidity might play a part here but I think I just need to replace the bulb. The second issue is a little more annoying. For whatever reason, the "air bag warning" light on the driver side console comes on and I cannot figure out why.The third issue is a little more pressing. I noticed during the summer whenever I was idling and had the A/C running, occasionally I would hear the engine act like it was about to stall out, like RPMs had dropped significantly. Now I've noticed it does that when the front defroster is running and winter is coming. What can I do about any of these problems listed here?
View 7 RepliesI am installing Sparco Evo Seats, a custom Harness Bar and racing harnesses in my MK4 R32 and have questions about wiring of the airbag and seatbelt sensor. What do I need to do so the airbag light and seatbelt warning light do not come on.
View 2 RepliesMy '04 V8 had been sitting unused for about a week. As I backed out of my garage the airbag warning chime and symbol illuminated. I have gone through many start cycles and added about 200 miles since its onset but the warning persists. I have a drive by with my VW tech Monday for a code read.
View 16 RepliesThe airbag warning light has come in my car. Do I need to get it looked at? What would cause this to come on?
View 9 RepliesUnfortunately, it has now happened with my 2010 Prius too. Stopped on the road to shoo animals out of the way... Afterward, the warning light came on and the Car went backward when put in drive! (It DID NOT beep as when put in reverse.)...
View 1 RepliesI encountered the PCS warning this morning, actually its the second time.

View 11 RepliesThe remote locks on my 2000 Jetta GLX have been working intermittently for almost a year. I had been using the manual key to lock/unlock until finally the manual lock alarm disarm also became intermittent and I found myself stuck at a truck rest stop at 1:30 a.m. with my alarm repeatedly howling into the night and no way to disarm it. I felt caught. I felt trapped. Like I was found guilty of a crime I had never committed. I knew then - I had work to do.
My research in the forums indicated that the door lock assembly was a common culprit - a gremlin, often leaving headaches as it's only calling card. I worked quick, pulling a driver's side door lock assembly out of 2003 at the local junkyard and replacing it no problem. To my surprise, although this DID fix the manual locking/unlocking/alarm disarming problem, it DID NOT fix the remote unlock problem. The culprit was still at large.
Business as usual with intermittent remote unlocking/locking/trunk-popping for weeks until my dash threw the "AIR BAG FAULT" light. I decided to question a local garage owner who's VAGCOM told me that it was caused by something on the driver's side door. He was busy, but it reset fine and I was on my way. I know now that I should have asked for the code then but I was caught in the beauty of a girl who only nails polish was the grease and dirt of the car she worked under. And about a mile down the road, the light came back on.
Now, the "AIR BAG FAULT" light is on as soon as I start the car. However, the time seems to vary slightly before the Jetta beeps and tells me in faded red letters "AIR BAG FAULT". Sometimes right when I leave my driveway, sometimes not before I drive a mile or two down the road. My remote unlock is still working intermittently.
I need both my airbag fault and the remote unlock fixed. I'm wondering if these two problems are related? Like maybe there's a loose connection that is causing the airbag sensor to short and it's beeping when it bumps out of place and maybe the intermittent remotes are being caused by slamming of my driver's side door too hard & it's losing a connection as well. I tried putting a little conductivity jelly in the female clip that goes to the window regulator motor because I heard that the airbag sensor is in there somewhere but it didn't make a difference.
My Air Bag warning light is lit. My mechanic hooked up his scanner and it shows no communication. We checked the fuse in the fuse box by the passenger door. All fuses good. Is there a fuse or breaker somewhere else. Scanner does communicate with the engine.
View 2 RepliesI have VW 99 18L automatic Passat. Suddenly, air bag yellow warning light is ON . There has been no accident or crash. Maybe its caz I pulled the seat-belt too roughly, or maybe there is something else to the story. I don't have a scanner. I don't want to go to a dealer/showroom to get the airbags replaced.
