I own 2010 3rd gen European Executive Prius which is equipped with fabric Toyota's alarm VSS1. I read in manual it is possible to set Automatic doors lock function (over 12mph) , but is not described how to enable that function. How I can activate this function?
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to mod the automatic windows up and down. What I mean is that If i arm the alarm with remote, all four windows will automatic roll up. The honda accord has the function which will roll down the windows by the remote before you enter.

I guess I'm curious where the sensor is just to look and make sure it's not something stupid before going to the garage/dealer.
2015 RX350 with Nav. Is there a way to disable the "auto" function of the intermittent wipers to gain manual control when in intermittent mode?. With the rain sensor and speed sensor, often even with the intermittent control at the fastest setting, the wipers don't swipe often enough. Especially when driving at slower speed or waiting at an intersection, the intermittent swipe takes so long that I must manually turn on the wiper to low speed. This makes no sense to me. Just because I'm driving slow or at an intersection, Lexus thinks I don't need clear vision?
This is the first vehicle with rain and speed sensing wipers and it will be my last. This is not only annoying it's a safety hazard.
Is there a user configurable setting to change this? Or is it something the dealer can disable?
I'm taking a long road trip with my '10 LS. I'd like to pack items on the floor behind the driver's seat but am certain that the "auto away" function that moves the seat all the way back when you turn off the car will crush my items. I checked my manual and my Carista app but nothing about disabling this feature. How to do this?

The Auto Door Lock function in my 2016 Elantra VP seems to be behaving oddly.
1) If I do not lock or forget to lock the doors using the remote or the door button after exiting the car, all 4 doors remain unlocked even after 24 hours. For security reasons, I expected that the doors should get auto-locked after some time when the vehicle key/remote has been out of the vehicle for a substantial amount of time. However, this is not happening to my surprise.
2) After driving a few miles when I have stopped the car and turned off the ignition, I sometimes find that the Passenger and Rear Doors have locked automatically by themselves whereas sometimes they remain all unlocked. I have not noticed any particular pattern when the Passenger/Rear doors are getting auto-locked by themselves and when they are not. It seems random to me.
Is it a malfunction in my car? The owner's manual does not specify anything in particular about such behavior.
New owner of a 2011 Prius II. I have put 600 miles on it so far.
1. Is there a way to make the car automatically lock when I get out of it without having to dig my key out of my purse and hit the lock button or run my finger over the door sensor? It seems to me that once you get out of key range, it should have an option to auto lock - or maybe after a certain amount of time autolock.
2. On a Prius II (no auto setting on headlights) - is there any problem at all with just leaving the headlights in the on position all the time? They turn off automatically 30 seconds after I leave the car, so is there a downside to doing this?
Recently, I've been having issues with my door locks. When exiting the car, and pressing the door lock on the outside handle, I would here the door lock solenoid fire once, then open, and the door would not lock. Same thing would happen when I used the FOB. The door would not lock. On occasion, I would get the door to lock, and stay locked by using the door lock inside the car when the door was open.
On the occasions when I did get the door locked, I then had issues unlocking. If I approached the drivers door to unlock the door, the car would just keep repeatedly beeping, and would not unlock the drivers door. But, the back door would unlock, so I could reach in, and open the drivers door from the back.
I am trying to figure out if my solar panel is functioning or not. The manual says that after one minute the air circulation flow control should change and 10 minutes later the ventilation should start, if parked in bright sunshine and if the switch is activated before switching the ignition off.
I parked the car in bright sunshine, no shaddow. The solar panels were clean and unobstructed. I stayed in the car to see what happens. I had set the air flow control to lower feet only and indoor circulation, so the solar system would need to switch it to outdoor circulation and upper level to work. With the ignition on, I pressed the solar ventilation switch then I switched the ignition off a few seconds later. I waited 1 minute, nothing happened! The ventilation flow routing did not switch to outdoor and there was no noise. I waited 15 minutes and nothing happened (except me starting to sweat a lot!).
Is there a better way to check the solar system function before I go to Toyota to ask them to check it?
When AC is on "Auto" the fan runs at slowest speed unless outside temp is over 100 degrees or setting is below 64 degrees. With setting left at 70 or 71 degrees, and outside temp is 80 or higher, cabin temp will slowly rise when driving in traffic and will slowly fall at speeds over 60, but not reach set temp until driving over an hour plus.
If fan is manually adjusted to higher speed, "Auto" system shuts off and AC becomes totally manual control. If the "Auto" button is touched, fan goes off again and the system will not do any of the automatic functions spelled out in manual.
Two different dealers have advised that ALL 2014 Avalons are like this and so it is considered "normal" regardless of what manual says and they and Toyota Customer Service refuse to do anything about it. What is the experience of other 2014 owners.
I have been noticing over the past couple of weeks that my headlights are on in the middle of the day. It is bright outside and the headlights are on. I have the switch in the Auto setting and have turned the DRL's off and enabled the rain sensor. Could it be the light/rain sensor?? Or maybe the light switch??

If I understand the manual the "Steering wheel auto away and return function" can only be turned off by the dealer. Is this right?
What do most of you do? Seems nice to have. But also could be a lot of wear and tear on the two motors to do this. Is it worth it.
This 2008 Avalon. auto seat function is inop the normal seat controls work. Can't find any info on line regarding this.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 Camry hybrid. It comes with the auto Headlight function where the car will automatic turn the headlight on/off at night and day time. But, but for some reason it doesn't work when I first got the car (pre-owned). I check all the wires/fuse, everything is good, but it just not working. The headlight and on/off switch itself works good. I just wonder if it has an option you can disable/enable it in the console or something else that I should look for?

View 11 RepliesGot an 04 Camry SE that will not lock the doors. I can unlock the doors from the switches inside the car, drivers and passenger side doors, and also with the fob. The LOCK function does not work from any source, door switches or fob. The problem relates to all 4 doors. I've been having to manually lock the doors when I park the car. I've read people having issues in hot weather and also when it's wet, but my problem is all the time. Hot, cold, wet, dry it doesn't matter. Also I don't hear any noises when trying to lock the doors telling me that it's even trying to lock.

View 6 RepliesOK I have a 2002 VW Bug TDI and yesterday I got into the car and the windows, sunroof, and mirrors did not work all are power. Now for the fun part. When I leaned over and tried the window button on the passenger side the doors locked. So on the drivers side the window buttons do nothing and the lock button work just fine. On the passenger side the the lock button does nothing but the window button locks and unlocks the car. As best as I can remember the windows worked normally on Monday. I have not looked at the fuse box but would that cause the window button to work the locks?
View 3 RepliesI took a curve pretty aggressively with my worn out tires. I was neither braking nor accelerating. The skid control icon flashed a few times, but there was no beeping. I am pretty sure the flashing was from VSC activation. I thought this is accompanied with beeping from the buzzer. Has this been changed for the newer models?

View 2 RepliesI have recently import a Prius C from Japan and it is equipped with YUPITERU remote engine start key. Don't know about activating this remote to start engine from outside of my prius c. Its manual is in Japanese and i am not familiar with Japanese language.
