For three days, my 2013 Prius has suddenly started to vibrate after coming to a complete stop. I feel the vibration in floor boards mostly and a little on the brake pedal. Oddly, I only feel the vibration on my way home from work ( summer heat maybe??).

I had a test drive with a mechanic from our Lexus dealership, and he told me that every 2013 RX350 he ever drove made that noise. Is that true?
View 14 Replies I've relocated back to Texas, and I've noticed since the roads here are much older than the streets in Vegas, if I'm braking while going over a bump in the road my brakes seem to slip and re-grip while coming to a stop. It doesn't happen every day but it happens enough to make my heart skip a beat and think I'm about to die
I do plan on taking this to the dealership because it is pretty big problem, I have a 2013 Limited Elantra
So it's an issue I've noticed 3 times now this summer. The car has been driven for at least 5 minutes each time and should be past the warm up phase. If I'm sitting at a light, the gas engine just keeps running. I thought it might be some kind of computer error so I tried powering the car off and turned it back on. EV mode will stay on for about 30 seconds but then the gas engine turns on again. Battery is 3/4 full like normal with the AC on. I've tried putting the car in EV mode but it says "not available". Temps in Houston have been in the high 90's recently so I'm wondering if this is the result of an overheated battery or if it's something I need to be worried about and take in to the dealership?
View 17 RepliesI have a 2010 gen III with the upgraded audio system and I am getting a vibration coming from the right door speaker when there is a heavy base sound. The dealer replaced the speaker and the vibration is still there, this makes me think it is not the speaker but a part in the door panel that is vibrating. How difficult is the door panel to remove in order to determine where the problem may be?
View 4 RepliesBought a second hand 2010 prius a couple of months ago. Between about 58 and 68 mph I get a pulsating hum and slight vibration that seems to come from the front of the car. Each pulse lasts about a second then appears again in another second. It's there when going straight and worse if I go round a tight right hand bend and reduces round a left hand bend. If I lift off the accelerator it makes no difference.
View 10 RepliesI've had my 2013 Prius since new. Basically it feels like my car is over-exhausting itself. When I go to take off, the car jerks like I slammed my pedal to the floor. If I'm on the highway and need to speed up, it sounds like it's reving really high and really long, and when I take my foot off the gas, there's about a 5 second delay before the car actually starts to decelerate. I don't even feel comfortable on the highway when it's acting up because my car kinda just accelerates suddenly and then takes forever to stop even when my foot isn't on the gas anymore.
This problem happened last summer, and when I took it to the dealership it stopped before I could show them. It started getting cold outside not long after so this didn't happen again. Now that it's hot out, my car is doing it again. And it's fine as long as the sun has gone down for the night. I thought it was because my a/c was on, but I can turn it off and it doesn't make a difference on the way the car is driving. I get regular maintenance done, all my filters are clean, and there's nothing I can really think could be wrong.
The vibration is coming from the rt front corner of the dash area near the small side window the left side also vibrates at times also seems temperature related the person had found the vibe best i remember it was a thin fender support ..

The Noise: As I brake harder to the final stop I hear a grind/bump noise. It is hard to describe. It is abrupt and quick. I don't believe it affects the braking just annoying and doesnt sound normal.
I have noticed an odd sound when coming to a stop. It sounds like a metal ball or two rolling forward when I brake then roll back and hit something when i come to a complete stop. At first i thought it was just something rolling around in the center console but I haven't found anything. What is under the center console/drivers seat that may have something that could roll like that?
View 1 Replies2012 Prius Five- Had an annoying vibration coming from the trunk area at highway speeds- especially on concrete roadways. First thought was the problematic rear license plate/frame that I've read about- so I used some felt pads around the rear plate & frame but still had the annoying vibration ad highway speeds. Over the weekend I had some spare time so I started poking around in the trunk area by rapping in several areas with a heavy hand till I heard the same (or similar frequency) vibrating sound.
Eventually I was able to isolate it to somewhere under the rear deck. I removed the carpet, then plastic deck then even the spare, etc., Found it was actually coming from the sheet metal box that surrounds the connections coming from the car and relays to the hybrid battery box. Seems the metal edges of that small connections/relay enclosure were just touching the battery box metal enclosure just lightly enough to vibrate under certain conditions. But how to fix?
To make a long story short- I disconnected the 12v battery, removed the black exhaust duct over small metal cover, removed the battery cooling fan intake shroud, then two annoying orange lock rivets, then a few 10mm nuts and one 10mm bolt- and finally the metal connection/relay cover came off.
Once off- I used black electric tape to line every seam where that metal cover touched the battery box metal cover or car frame- I then lined the battery box metal cover the same way in the areas where the connection/relay cover mated on it. Reassembly was the reverse of disassembly. Upon ride to work this morning- vibration was 100% gone- fixed!
On the December day my 2013 Prius Five model (hatchback with all the safety add ons, bigger wheels) turned 18 months old, i was on the way to have one of the freebie services. I heard a metallic rattle, seemingly coming from the back of the interior. It continues and I cannot find a source for it. I just read a thread about rattles in the 2011s. Not particularly comforting given what I spent on the car.
Is this something I could have the dealer chase under the warranty? (this is the first new car i ever bought in my 50 years of driving, so my familiarity with new car warranties is a little thin.)
My dealer has been pretty responsive -- swapping out an interior door panel as a freebie when the armrest portion separated from the lower portion and collapsed into the door.
I wanted to pass along the results of a brake issue I encountered in my 2010 Prius (15K miles) and report to interested Prius owners how the issue was resolved.
Problem: In the last second (or so) coming to a complete stop I noticed a few light clunk type sounds, like something was loose up front. I never experienced any degradation in the braking performance.
Getting excessive vibration coming from the top of the glove box panel and also from the passenger seat? I took it to the dealer because it was making a vibration noise, but they fixed the noise, but the vibration continues. What it might be?
View 5 RepliesRecently leased a 2014 Nissan Sentra SL It has 800 miles on it now. Immediately I felt a slight vibration when coming to a stop. It is intermittent happens about 50% of the time. Brought it to my dealer and he said he couldn't feel the problem on the test drive, if it persists come back to him.I plan on going back to service next week. As I apply the brakes it slows down smoothly but just before coming to a complete stop is when it vibrates. Most people say my car has warped rotors causing this,My question is: How can a brand new car with 10 miles on it have warped rotors?
View 13 RepliesDriving into work this morning, I came up to the first stop sign before I get on the "freeway" and noticed a weird vibration. As I slowed to stop I could have sworn it felt like the engine was being lugged, the same feeling you get in a manual when you try to come to a stop without using the clutch. I thought for sure the engine was going to die. The engine RPMs dropped to about 800-900 RPM and once I got to a complete stop the RPMs went back to normal.
It seemed to do this every time I came to a stop. Could my torque converter be locking up and not releasing as it supposed to causing the lugging sensation I'm getting? The truck accelerates fine and idles fine once stopped, but when slowing I get that weird vibration and maybe the lugging sensation is just in my imagination and has nothing to do with the engine.
I do have a vibration from a missing wheel weight, but that's usually felt at about 34-35 mph. In addition, I also have a bit of a brake vibration when slowing down quickly, such as when slowing quickly from 65 to turn off the highway onto my local road, but this is a completely different vibration.
I recently had a flat tire - Schwabs fixed it. Then told me my rear brakes were bad so I replaced them. I noticed when coming to a stop the last 20-30 feet you can really feel the front end vibrate - almost like it is in 4wd but it is not. I checked the hubs and they are on auto and lifted the truck to spin the wheels and made sure everything was dis-engaged. My front rotors were bad so I replaced them and the pads thinking it was the root cause. I also greased the front wheel bearings using the little tool from riffraff diesel where you take out the speed sensor and insert grease.

View 14 RepliesWe have a 14' Santa Fe 2.0 Turbo that has lost power several times upon coming to a stop. The vehicle will lose the "D" in the gear selector window in the cluster, a yellow triangle light will come on, and we lose all gear selector lights on the shifter in the center console. The vehicle will stop fine but upon throttle, power is extremely sluggish and then braking is limited as well. The car will limp in this mode until we stop the vehicle and reset with an ignition cycle. We might go a month in between occurrence. Looking for similar incidents and fixes if any. Vehicle off to dealer this week. Hopefully it has a hard code stored.
View 1 RepliesI had a new trailer hitch installed on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe last month...after a couple of days I noticed a vibration noise in the right rear...I took it in to the dealer, they said they hitch didn't fit right and the vibration was caused by the hitch...they recommended I take it back to the installer (e-trailer). So I took it back to e-trailer...they looked at it and said they work with the dealers to design the specs for the hitches and there shouldn't be an issue...so they say they found a piece of styrofoam that was loose in the fascia and that was causing the vibration...so tomorrow I'm going back to the dealer to have them see if they see the same problem...so far I'm getting the old 'it's not my problem'...I really don't care whose problem it is, I just want it fixed!
View 3 RepliesEver since installing my Joe Z axle back exhaust.I get a popping sound when coming to a stop, especially if decelerating harder. I know this type of thing happens to bikes when you don't get them tuned after but I haven't read anything about Tuning the Lex. Is this normal? Are other guys with the aftermarket exhaust and intake having this same sound at times?
