Maybe I should just give up and be happy with the standard bulbs, but I had to try putting in led bulbs. While doing this the bulb I had was just a little to long. It popped of the reflector that sits on the red plastic piece and is now resting in the bottom of the housing. Is there a way of putting it back on with out destroying it or getting a new assembly.
View 2 RepliesJust bought a 2006 with 80k miles and HID headlights on it and noticed while parking in the garage last night that only the passenger side high beams work. Upon closer inspection and having my fiance flip the beams on and off I could see that the reflector on the drivers side didn't move at all.
This is after i just had a brand new driver side lens, bulb and ballast installed as when i bought it the headlight had a lot of condensation built up inside it. So I'm not really sure if the highbeam was working before this was all replaced because the bulb went out right after i bought it.
My passenger side tail light (the upper part above the reverse lights) don't light up when you press on the break. Or rather, they light up, but just not as bright as the driver side. I took the car to the dealership and they told me they'd need to replace the entire tail light and I just wanted to see if that was indeed the case.

Next day 10a fuse blew again and then 2 more times in same day. My tail lights go out and license plate light go out together when this happens. What can I do?

View 4 RepliesGot flagged by a fellow driver, and told both tail lights were out; I had no dashboard warning light. Headlights were on, blinkers worked, brake lights worked. This is a small deal, but I was surprised; is there really no warning for this (2006 mid-package), or is something else the matter?
View 15 RepliesI have a 2008 Generation II Touring Edition Prius. Someone informed me that my passenger side tail light was not working. I ordered some red LEDs to replace the suspected burned out bulb. When I opened up the trap door from the inside of the rear and when I checked on the bulb, it lit up. (Thought that it had loosened itself?)
When my LEDs arrived, I unplugged the bulbs (right and left) and attempted to replace the old bulbs. The LEDs would not light up. And now the bulbs will not work either.
I went to the auto parts store and bought replacement 2825 bulbs. No go. Is there a fuse that may have blown? Or ??? I don't have a tool to check for voltage - what is my next step?
I have a hairline crack (with some starring) on my left rear tail light of my 2006 Prius touring. Any good glue or compound to patch it up and prevent water/moisture/dirt from getting in there and still stay clear for light to shine through?
View 2 RepliesPurchased used 2006 and the left tail light does not work at times until I rotate the socket as if removing it. This happens frequently and then after about 3 weeks the bulb blows. I've confirmed the there is no socket terminal issue and no intermittent opens in the wiring to the socket. The buld internal glass blackens as if it is running too hot but the voltage measures slightly over 12V when I've measured it. The bulbs are rated at 13V. At this point the only thing I can think of is there must be an occasional high voltage spike that hits the left tail light but not the right tail light.

The right rear tail light keeps burning out and we keep taking it back to the local Toyota dealer for replacement, but they have been very good about it. Though an annoyance, if that was the only problem we had I would not be here right now typing this.
Today my wife was driving and came to an intersection at a red light to make a right-hand turn. She braked coming into the turn and as she made the turn. What happened next scared her and is very concerning to us -

View 19 RepliesLast night on a 400 mile trip the wheelwell plastic fell loose onto the wheel and was destroyed. There was some kind of white bottle that attached to it that got ruined also. What it may have been? The car is 200 miles from home and me or i could be more specific.
View 3 RepliesI noticed the "shield" or "reflector" in my OEM fog lights sagging. I've never really paid much attention to them but noticed that both were sagging. I'm not sure what the part is called, but you can see from the pic. Is this is an issue? Would this be covered under warranty? It looks like a screw has vibrated loose and the shield has dropped. I have a regular service anyway.

I know on my 2013 Optima with door reflectors that do not light up it has the housing that is used on the Korean version that does light up minus the wiring and you can tap into the wiring to make the door reflectors light up when you open the door.

View 8 RepliesI'm a not-terribly-handy (but not totally inept!) apartment dweller with few tools, but it looks like I'm going to need to go buy a deep socket. I park on the street and came out the other day to find my driver side tail light pretty smashed up. I found one for $75 at the junk yard and believe I can swap them myself. I found a YouTube video that shows how to do it on a Gen II. On the Gen II, the nuts holding the assembly in place are 10mm. Definitely not the case on the Gen I. They're much smaller. I have a set of sockets but nothing deep enough to get me past those long bolts, but I'd rather not buy a whole set, since I'm not even sure whether I'd need metric or standard.

This may be related to some posts I've studied but I'm still at a loss. My wife observed moisture inside one of the tail lights on her 2006 RX330. Upon further inspection, I noticed water standing in the lower section inside the outer cover over an inch high. After reviewing all of the posts about bugs in them, moisture in them, how to remove them, and whether the outside cover can be removed, I pulled it out looking for any cracks, etc to figure out how that much water is getting in since it hasn't been wet in over a week at least and no downpours, major things like a car wash...nothing. I'm still at a loss. I know that I could rotate it carefully 360 degrees without water escaping which meant the out cover was still sealed pretty good. I then rotated it to flat and the water poured out thru the electrical circuit board/bulb area. Could this be related to the same cause behind the headlight pseudo recall/replacement? Which way to go as I can find no signs of how the water got there.

I need to replace one of the tailights on my wife's '06 RX330. It's one of the inboard tailights that, along with a backup light, is contained in a module in the rear liftgate.
How to remove the module for access to the lights? I see a screw/nut that apparently must be removed first, but after removing it, I couldn't tell whether module pulled straight out (or forward when the liftgate is closed), if it pulled to the side of the car, or if there's another fastener I missed. I don't want to pull the wrong way and break something......
Our 54,000 mile '07 Prius has a tail light problem that has thus far eluded me. It began with a friend telling me a tail light was out. I checked and it was, so I replaced both bulbs, checked my work and they both worked. Well, people keep telling me I have one or the other, or both lights out. If I give the offending lens a bump with my fist it will come on and will not flicker or go off like a typical loose connection. However it might not be working tomorrow. I've taken the bulbs out and checked their base and the socket - all look good. I've not noticed any other electrical problems.
