Hopped in the car this morning and found the front wipers running intermittently (every 5 sec) no matter what setting is selected--they can't be shut off.
View 5 RepliesI had the doors open while unloading the car this morning and noticed that the brake booster pump just kept running and running and running, plus I can hear a strange, hollow rattling sound somewhere under the car that coincides with the pump. When I say it runs "constantly," I really mean that it runs for 10 seconds (with the rattle), stops for about 5 seconds (silence), runs and rattles for ten seconds again, stops for another five, and just keeps on going for as long as I care to sit there with the door open.
View 15 RepliesWeather got cold last night and froze everything. When I went to start my wife's car she had left the wipers in the on position the night before and I did not notice it. Once I turned the car on, the wipers went to start moving but were frozen. Once I realized it I quickly switched it to the off position, but it was too late. After defrosting everything and cleaning the windshield, the wipers will not work. I thought first it was a blown fuse so I switched it out with a new one, but still no luck. After my engine turned off I could hear the wiper motor running but no moving on the wipers. I have checked the nuts that hold the base of the wipers in place and they are tight. I have a 2007 Prius as well.
View 6 RepliesAm I correct in thinking that Toyota recommend changing the spark plugs at 100,000 miles on the gen II?
The reason I ask is because on a couple of occasions the ICE ran rough for a couple of seconds when it first started up like it didn't have a spark or something on one of the plugs. Also I've noticed an slight drop in mpg, not just due to the time of year either. In winter I normally average 48-50mpg (UK) but I'm struggling to get mid 40's ATM. My pri has covered 75,000 miles so was thinking of changing them now to see if it improves?
I can usually find what Im looking for with a quick search but I have had no luck with this issue.
View 19 RepliesSome years back my "farm" '05 prius when a host of bells and whistles went off, cooling fan ran more than normal, and I lost power a couple of times. Turned out this farm prius had an accumulation of dirt, dog hair, hay and other debris that needed to be cleaned out. You got me through the whole process, and the car's run fine until.... . Fast forward a couple of years to 200,003 miles. Now the cooling fan is running pretty constantly, the red triangle stays lit, the check engine light comes on, the (!) is on, and the VSC light is on. Haven't hooked it up to check codes, but did check cooling fan and it's clean. Would it possibly possibly better to change the 12 volt battery?
View 19 RepliesMy 04 PS was blowin white smoke constantly while running. I just towed a uHaul from Connecticut to Virginia Beach and had some coolant issues on the drive down (I was out of coolant on 95 in PA, added coolant and it made the rest of the drive no problem). I got here to Virginia and it was low on coolant again. I added coolant to it, and now I have some other issues. I had what looked like oil comin out the stacks onto the bed, so I pulled the turbo thinking it was seals. But the turbo was just rebuilt prior to me buying it with a wicked wheel in it. It still had stock EGR and it has 202K on it.
Checked and found EGR valve was wet. Ordered an EGR delete kit, and just finished installing it. Now with everything put back together, the truck doesn't want to start. It cranks but doesn't fire. I pulled the codes from my tuner and I got: P0403, P0405, P0683, and P2623. I know P0403 and P0405 are related to EGR but the others I'm at a loss on. The EGR delete kit I bought included the blank to remove the valve but what do I do with the plug that used to plug into it? Any way forward to get the truck back up and runnin again? This is my daily driver and not lookin to break the bank to get it goin again but I really need her to be reliable.
I have had an issue with my GX470 almost since I bought it in 2008. It will sometimes not engage in drive after backing out of a parking space.
It usually happens when it is warm and the car has been driving for awhile then I park for lunch or an errand. I come back start up the car put it into reverse backout of the car space and nothing for a good 5-6 seconds. Seems a lot longer when cars are waiting to take your space and honking.
Anyway I have been reporting it to Lexus at every service and getting a no trouble found. Over time it is occurring more regularly and it even happened at the dealership but of course I was the only one in my car at the time.
So My battery seems ok but the engine is running when I'm stopped a lot the last couple of days. I also hear a click from under the hood every once in a while like something is turning on.
Trying to even the voltage on a cell? I'm in SoCal but it's not hot or cold out.
My air conditioning constantly blows out warm air - even if I set it to the lowest temperature ("LO").
View 19 RepliesI have a 2004 Subaru Outback. This fall I started having intermittent problems starting the car. It would run like a champ, no problems. Then every once in a while when I would try to start it, typically happens after it has sat all night, it would turn over just fine, motor would catch, then the motor would quit running (almost immediately upon start). It is kind of like the old days when your carburetor was not adjusted quite right and you would have to keep one foot on the brake the other on the gas while stopped at a stop light to keep the motor running.
The first time it happened we added "heat" as we thought it might be water in the gas line somewhere. It started, then ran just fine. This winter the problem started recurring more frequently. We added injector cleaner, it seemed to work a bit, but did not solve problem. We took it to the shop, and they could not figure out what was going on as nothing is registering on the computer and the car would start just fine for them. Brought the car home it worked OK for a week or so, then started up again.
The motor would catch then would quit running almost immediately. We were able to get it running good enough to get it to the shop (kept one foot on gas at stop lights, etc so would not kill). My car has been at the shop for two weeks now. It finally misbehaved on their watch, and they replaced a sensor, but they are not sure it fixed anything. They are keeping it so see if they can get a better diagnosis.
My first thought was the gas pump, but they said they had never seen a subaru gas pump fail and usually when a pump goes out, it goes out. They thought it could be electrical, but not sure as the problem is so intermittent. I would like to get my car fixed and back home. It's a great car; when it is running it runs great. The shop we work with is very good, and they are reluctant to start just replacing parts if it is not going to fix the problem.
I had a Viper 5701 installed and it only stays on for 20 seconds then shuts down as if I was pressing the brake pedal. What is the work around? The hand held computer says the alarm is set for 12 minutes.
View 3 RepliesMy 2005 Prius, 88K miles, has developed an odd quirk. For about a month, the AC will not retain the last temperature setting. For example, you drive the car, set the temperature to max cold, arrive at your destination, turn the car off and when you start it again the temperature has reset to 75 degrees. Never used to do this before. I'm hoping it is just a module of some sort and not a major AC repair.

View 6 RepliesOk, so I have a 2004 F250, with 6.0L. when driving at a steady speed (doesn't matter what speed), the engine will run rough when coming to an idle, and stay running rough until I shut it off and let it sit for a bit.
After I cycle the key a few times it will fire up and run fine, so I came to the conclusion that air is getting in the fuel system. I then took the filter cap off that is located in the engine bay and cycled the key, which produced a lot of bubbles, which I am assuming shouldn't happen.
I guess my question is, should I have air bubbles in the filter bowl, when cycling the ignition?
I have a 2.4L 2003 Camry. No modifications other than a new HU that's been in place for years. I do also have a Sirius radio that plugs into 12v socket.
About a year ago, the only speed that will work for my windshield wipers is the high speed. Every now and then, i can use the other speeds, but they will only work for a few seconds. Recently, I was driving the highway, and out of nowhere, with the wiper switch in the OFF position, my wipers started working. I had to switch it to the fast speed a few times then OFF to get them to stop.
Thinking it was a motor issue, i first took both arms off, then ran the wipers. They work perfectly. It's as if as soon as I put the arms back on, they become "too heavy" for the motor, and won't work in any of the other settings (I guess that's the best way that my mind makes sense of it.
I also experience the door lock issue (sometimes using the key fob will only lock/unlock 3 out of the 4 doors)...
My 2006 Prius front passenger seat (leather) squeaks constantly. Sounds like styrofoam rubbing against styrofoam. Been to Toyota dealer three times and they have not been able to solve the problem. Squeak only gets worse. Am I the only one driving a GenII Prius with this problem?
View 2 Replies2015 GTI, my intermittent wipers work intermittently, sometimes yes, sometime no. A days driving in the rain and I had to switch to low speed for wiping many many times, maybe 10th time they worked as they are supposed to. Shut off for refuel and back to non working.
View 9 RepliesEarly this morning, after a night of freezing rain, i noticed the rear wipers running even though the car/ignition/wiper switch were all off. truck had not been started in over 24 hours. was unable to stop motor from running except only by disconnecting battery lead terminal. on trip to local mechanic hours later, motor would not stop, except when I turned-on front wipers -- then the rear motor would immediately stop at whatever position wiper blade was in. motor would not park blade. only tripping the front (separate) wiper switch would interrupt power to rear wiper motor. At mechanic, problem would not reappear. learned later that similarly, the front wipers would not quit two weeks earlier. at that time, the front wipers eventually stopped some time after ignition was killed and vehicle sat idle with all switches off. Common thread is problem appears during rain storms and does not manifest during dry times.
View 3 RepliesMy front windshield wipers seem to have gone kaput. I went to clean the windshield yesterday, and while the fluid shot out freely, the wipers didn't move. I tried intermittent, frequent, etc, and nothing got them to move. The back wiper works fine. I restarted the car, checked to make sure that nothing was blocking movement, and still no movement.
Which fuse controls the wipers? Before I head to the dealer (it's been 5 weeks since my last visit), I'd like to see if a blown fuse is the cause of the problem.
The other day we had a little rain, drove the car parked it left the wipers in the on position. Went to start the car again for another jaunt, and pressed the start button and brake pedal, the wipers came on very slow and the red triangle on the mfd came on. So I turned off the car and tried to start again, every thing was fine. So I am thinking my 5 yr aux battery is failing . Would I be correct in thinking that?
