Last night on a 400 mile trip the wheelwell plastic fell loose onto the wheel and was destroyed. There was some kind of white bottle that attached to it that got ruined also. What it may have been? The car is 200 miles from home and me or i could be more specific.
View 3 RepliesI was trying to replace the bulbs in the running board and the first bulb I tried to replace when reinserting the bulb came loose and fell in the housing.
Is there anyway to remove the running board light assembly or how to get the bulb out of there?
Bought a 2010 Prius II around Feb. 1. So far, so good. No real problems, except the right rear wheel cover fell off sometime around mile 2500.
To my delight, the missing ugly wheel cover revealed a pretty good looking alloy wheel underneath. Except the alloy has a gaping, empty hole in the center of the wheel. Rather than pay a king's ransom to replace the lost wheel cover, I asked in the dealer's parts dept. if an OEM center-cap was available to fit the Prius wheel. Turns out there is, so I ordered 4 center caps . They arrived about a week later. Plugged them into the holes, and away we go with good looking alloys now instead of those wheel covers.

View 2 RepliesDoing the 48,000 km service yesterday, and when checking everything noticed the engine coolant overflow bottle was almost empty. MAJOR PROBLEM!
There is no sign of leaking, so I presume it evaporated or it was never filled to the full mark from the factory. Man, that level is hard to check. It's dark down there! I may mark the passenger side end of the overflow bottle. Much easier to see the level there.
Coolant loss, presumably from evaporation? This was after 3 years of operation/48,000 km or 30,000 mi.
So I just installed brand new coilovers and I quickly noticed a this problem. On the passenger side, when the wheel is lifted, I can feel a little bit of movement from the coilover and it really seems like it is the top bushing that is moving. I can see the metal top plate moving a little also. Everything is we tighten andI did the same thing as the driver's side but only this one does this. When the car is on the ground I can feel there is a bit of play in the wheel if I bang on it with my hand. Also, I know the gap on the top plates is normal, specially when lowered but again the passenger side looks weird and is much higher then the other side. What I'm I missing here ? Both side top bushing and bearing are also brand new.
View 14 RepliesMaybe I should just give up and be happy with the standard bulbs, but I had to try putting in led bulbs. While doing this the bulb I had was just a little to long. It popped of the reflector that sits on the red plastic piece and is now resting in the bottom of the housing. Is there a way of putting it back on with out destroying it or getting a new assembly.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight knocking noise coming from the passenger front wheel area mainly when I was turning toward the right.
Question.......So when turning to the right, it first seemed to me that the right side would experience a heavier load. However, after further thought and applying some physics the inertia of the car would actually be putting a heavier load on the left side during a right turn. Which is correct?
Just trying to troubleshoot the noise/problem.
#1 when I apply the brakes, the noise doesn't change. I don't think it's brake related.
#2 the noise speeds up with speed, meaning that it's rotational.
#3 The noise does get louder when I am turning right but has know progressed into a constant noise going straight. During a left turn it subsided.
#4 I did take my floor jake and jaked the pass. front wheel up but didn't see anything broken or damaged. I couldn't rotate the tire though.
#5 I also had the tires rotated today and the noise got worse.
I've got a loose panel in the passenger footwell. It's the black plastic panel that your toes touch, if your passenger puts his heels on the floor and points his toes toward the sky. It has some kind of a white pad/filter on the top side.
The edge of the panel nearest the seat is firmly connected. The edge nearest the engine flopped down. I tried to put it back. There seems to be one plastic tab that sticks out and fits too-loosely into a rectangular hole on the front-of-car edge. As soon as my kid gets in the car again, his toes bump the plate and it flops down again.
I have a 2012 Prius. I occasionally will clean the wheel wells, as I live on a dirt road. I have found that there's a plastic cover inside the left rear wheel well, at about 2 o'clock as you face the wheel. It seems to be loose.

View 3 RepliesI purchased a 2006 Lariat crew cab 4x4 back in early feb... since then, I've been on the Interstates a little more than usual ( traveling back home.. dad had a surgery 3 hours away) . . . anyway, the truck gets kinda loose feeling when coming onto bridges and off of them, almost like the back end is swaying and the tires are leaving the ground in the front.. my steering wheel gets loose for a split sec. When I bought the truck I wrote this off as bad tires.. it had some over inflated BFG stock looking tires and where too small.
now, I have new wheels and new tires one size up on the tire. While the ride is great off any bumps.. the second I hit a bump it gets squirmy... I had a guy look at the shocks, he said the seemed ok.. could it be possible to have the wrong shocks on ?
My 2004 crew 4x4 did not do this.. so I know its not a characteristic of the truck. Tired of feeling like I am driving on ice... which is how I lost my 04. My first guess was the Shocks... I bought a level kit for my 04 and never got to put it on... so, it may work out to replace them while I am at it.
I have a corolla 2009 and everything has been running great except that we found a falling part under the car yesterday. I don't know where the part came from or if it's even part of the car. Tell me if it's a major problem or something minor or a non-issue.

I recently bought a 2002 prius with 65000 mi. I have been driving it for a few weeks and everything seems to be working good. I noticed there was no engine coolant in the reserve bottle and added a quart to bring it to the full line. The next day I noticed leaking coolant, but it is on the drivers side where I believe only the inverter components are. I really don't know though. The engine coolant level has dropped down. Does the engine coolant flow over on the drivers side? I cant tell exactly where the leak is.
View 1 RepliesToday I either broke timing chain or it fell off on the passenger side bank of my 08 F250 V10. Put a hole in valve cover. What to expect for repairs. Is this engine Zero tolerance.. unsure if I should expect bent valves or not and just how far I may have to go with this.. best way to test. I have a bore scope camera and mechanical abilities.
View 14 RepliesMy '04 Prius is currently at 134k miles and I've noticed for a while that the front suspension feels and sounds "loose" over small bumps and imperfections on the road.
I also just started noticing some squeaking noise coming from the axle/hub when I first drive off in the morning.
I first thought the loose feeling could be worn out shocks, but I'm starting to worry that it would be something else.
I have a 07 prius with 60k Km. right now, everytime i go thru a hole, there is always a noise like something is loose. It also sounds like a rattles too. The noise seems to came from the front driver side tire (i have the right side driver japan version prius ). I assume it was the shocks / struts that needs replacement.
View 1 RepliesI hear a jingle metallic noise from my front right rim when I hit small fast bumps, but not big smooth bumps. I took off the wheel and was able to pull the disc outward. The caliper held the other end, but area opposite was able to move. I checked the left front side of car and it wouldn't move at all. From what I've read the disc seems to slide off the front axle hub so maybe that is normal. Not sure why left won't move but right easily slides out. If I took off caliper it would come right off. It should be tight enough when the wheel is mounted I assume.
