I am leaning towards replacing my '08 wheel that his a slight crack in it from a pothole. I might consider repairing it but i know little about how repair works and whether it holds up and is safe.
View 4 RepliesSo I believe I have a crack in the Exhaust Manifold... When I rev the car I can hear a slight tick. I had taken it to a shop to do a muffler delete and said that there may be a leak or crack somewhere. The tech said it wasn't too bad but it may be something to keep an eye on. My question is, what would be the best route to go? Is this a common issue with the ISF? I was thinking if it was also possible if it may just be the gasket, which the tech also said it could be. I have a 2008 model with about 113k miles on it.

View 9 RepliesI get a knock noise, actually more of a crack sound, when going over a bump with front nearside wheel. It sounds like it’s coming from behind and on a level with the glove compartment. I have checked suspension and steering components (including strut top nuts) which seems good and emptied junk out of glove compartment but noise persists.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius basic model bought second hand. There are two issues since I have bought the car; first it will roll back or forward when the brake applied, this happens on any uphill or downhill. I brought the car to Toyota service centre, they did a brake test, the test passed. but this doesn't resolve this issue. It just very weird. during driving, all brake works ok, but parking the car, if not in even service, it starts to roll.
Second, recently I hear there's a crack sound when apply the brake during low speed, especially during the stop/start traffic, and I notice mostly happens when the electrical motor in running. So when brake, the crack, like the spark comes from somewhere like battery. While brake to slow down from high speed, seems no sound. So I suspect it was from the battery or electric motor.
While bucking a 30+ headwind on the highway @ 70mph, hit a pothole, got a check engine light and engine died. Traffic heavy and dangerous so I stayed on electric power longer than I should have to get off onto a service road. Determined my 12 volt battery terminals were very loose from vibration, I'm assuming. But now the car will not stay running when started. SOC shows 2.5%, main battery 0 volts.
Towed home, recharged main battery to 7.3vdc per module, yet car still shows same SOC and will not stay running. Currently, disconnected 12 volt battery overnight to see if things look better after system sits disconnected for several hours.
This evening in the dark I hit a pothole. I did not see it. It is a busy 3 lane road. Changed my tire. The rim has a big dent in it and the tire is all ripped up.
How much a new tire and rim for a 2008 Prius is going to cost? We looked underneath the car and the other parts seem ok.
Why the Prius seems to "jump" or gain momentum when I go over an unexpected large bump or pothole?
View 12 RepliesThis may be by design but while cleaning my car running my hand w dry cloth over steering wheel I noticed a slight bump. To the left of the Toyota logo. I'm not sure if it's on purpose so if the airbag deploys it breaks away but I just noticed it. it's a 2015 Prius 3. Rather not have the airbag go off while driving.

View 12 RepliesI have a 2004 Sebring. The A/C had been working intermittently, now not at all. When it was working, if I went over a big bump or hit a pothole, it would stop blowing cold. Now it will not blow cold through the dash vents, but the defroster still blows cold so I believe there is enough coolant. The mechanic has discouraged me from investigating saying it will be very expensive to take the car apart to diagnose.

View 16 RepliesMy car is pulling to one right slightly so I did the alignment. But it didnt eliminate the problem. Ｉ jacked up my car and try to rotate the front wheel. I can hear slight noise of the caliper rubbing the disk and the wheel does not spin freely if I stopped rotating it. However, the noise is subtle so I don't know if it is by design or I have a brake drag.
View 7 RepliesJust recently bought a 2005 prius. It had a few issues that I have been addressing.
Last issue is that the steering wheel has a very slight bind/sticking in the straight ahead position. Very slight steering corrections needed when driving straight down the road are annoying because of this bind/sticking. Steering is smooth and bind free through the entire range of left to right travel, except for straight ahead (center).
Does the steering gear have oil or grease that is replaceable? If so, what id the procedure?
I have a 2010 model 5 and am experiencing a woo, woo, woo, woo type sound. I thought it was from the rear but after jacking up and turning each rear wheel, all I hear is the slight drag from the pads on the disc. The car has 61K on it and from previous posts that seems to be about the mileage range for one. It is most noticeable above 25 to 45 mph. Bad front bearing with this sound? The car is covered under the platinum warranty so cost is not a problem, just getting it diagnosed is useful.

View 14 RepliesI'm looking at a 2004 F250 XLT super cab 4x4 with a 5.4L with only 50k on the clock. It looks to be in great shape and drives good with only a few issues. Cruise doesn't work, it pulls to the left a little, and it has a slight roar coming from the left front wheel. Other than that it seems to be a nice truck. Its blue and grey two tone. Anything else I need to look at before pulling the handle on this one?

Some background on the car: An inverter replacement when it was less than one year old, the Big-Hand issue, the engine ECU (I think) replaced just after warranty expired, resealing of traction battery terminals... And last month the front brake pads (original) had to be replaced because the driver side inner pad fell off while braking on the highway. lol. The problem was probably due to the inner pads being jammed and received excessive wears. Also, on at least two occasions, the engine ran with extremely low level of oil, or none at all (to the point where the engine sounded different and occasionally shuddered). I don't know what caused the oil level to drop, but ever since then, the engine seems to be going through the entire reservoir of synthetic oil advertised to last 25000 Km in just 5000 Km (~3200 mi). Not sure if the engine is eating up the oil or the car is leaking oil (there is no oil stain where the car is normally parked).
Problem: When the car was brought in for tire replacements last week, the tech noted that "Head gasket leak. Also leaking from tranny cover. Could be crack seal" with an estimate cost to fix the issue at several thousand dollars, which has been vetted by a family member who is a heavy mechanic. I have attached the report for reference.
