Prius (2004-09) :: VSC Light Comes On After New Clockspring Installed
Jan 6, 2016
Just installed a new clockspring on a 2009 Prius base model because half the buttons on the steering wheel weren't working and the airbag warning light was lit up all the time. I took a guess on the airbag light being caused by the clockspring since the buttons were dead on the steering wheel and the cruise control was usually dead also. The good news...airbag warning light is off and the buttons and cruise control are all back! Bad news is...now the vsc light comes on after going less than a mile down the road.

Got the new tires the other day (Thursday) from a tire chain store. As I was driving off, I noticed the tire light warning turned on and then moments later, it turned off. I thought maybe it was just that. Today (Saturday) the tire light went on again. Brought the car back to tire store and the service manager checked the pressure, the tires were all low pressure, 29-30 psi instead of 35s. He re-inflated them all but the tire light will not turn off. So next step was he used a scanner tool which he attached close to all the tires.

I recently had to put a clock spring inside the steering wheel. I aligned it and calibrated it, however, after this change, the VSC light keeps coming on. I have disconnected the battery, I have used the paperclip on the obd connector and calibrated, but it keeps coming back on after driving a few miles. The car runs great. Along with the VSC light, the vehicle warning light comes on also.

My car had a new bumper installed, and now they can't get it to start. When you hit the button to start, the red "immobilizer" anti-theft light blinks for a moment like the key is not in the car.
This is true even if the key is inserted into the dash. The remote key still can open and close/lock the doors just fine, so this is strange.
They did mention that they had to recharge the battery for some reason. I don't know why the battery had died for them, but it is charged now. (Headlights, etc work fine).

I recently had new tires installed on my 2008 Prius and after the tires were installed she drove better than ever and I drove about 150 miles across Florida with no issues what so ever. But when I went for a drive this evening, after about 30 minutes of driving my TPMS light blinked for about a minute then stayed solid for about 3 minutes but then went out. When I got out of the car all the tires looked okay, I didn't have a gauge on me and I will check the pressures tomorrow.

My mechanic installed a new Hybrid battery in my 2005 Pruis using the repair manual and a video that showed him how to do it. He also replaced the harness and the ECU battery. When he tries to start the car all of the lights light up on the dash but no ready light on the start button and the car will not start. The instructions did not say anything about this issue so he is lost! He thinks the smart key and the ECU have to be synced in some way but doesn't know how to do it.

I purchased a new 12 volt battery from Toyota and installed in my 2009 Prius. My car wouldn't start. So, next I tried to jumpstart it. I pressed the Power button (the light was GREEN) but it wouldn't start. I pressed the Power button again (The light was AMBER) and the hybrid drive engaged and the CHECK ENGINE light came on; however, the engine didn't start, the dashboard didn't light up and the READY indicator did not appear.
Next, I grabbed the Owner's Manual and went through the Troubleshooting sequence. Engine still wouldn't start.

Just replaced the HiD bulbs in our 2005 Prius for the first time. Unhappily, though both bulbs operate, the driver’s side bulb has no “low beam.” Could this be a defect in my installation? (Of course, I realize that I can resort to the old bulb-swapping routine, and I will do this if necessary, but given the effort required to perform that trick I thought it best to ask here first!)...

I decided to install a new Optima yellow top battery because I performed the battery check and found the voltage low and therefore believed my 2008 was still running on the original OEM 12v battery. Much to my surprise I found a non-OEM battery installed and the vent tube elbow missing!

Just put in a new 12v battery but when I try to connect the ground cable, I'm getting sparks, indicating a current draw. And the horn starts blowing nonstop.

I had the red triangle pop up on my Prius. I codes I got P0A93 and P1121 I needed a new control valve and inverter water pump. I installed both the valve and the inverter pump filled it with new coolant and bled both systems.
I went into maintenance mode so I could run the motor and bleed out all the water. My question is the red triangle is still on in my car when I start it up.. Is there some way to clear the red triangle or does it just go away on its own? Not sure what to do.

My 05 Phaeton 4 seater was wrecked a while back and everything has been replaced except my local body shop can not get the steering wheel off to replace the clockspring/airbag. Is there a trick in getting it off and or what exactly has to come off to replace these 2 things. My body shop thinks that it might all be one piece but I thought that most are held on by one large bolt. I also need to know exactly where my airbag module is located as well.

I see these 2 terms almost interchanged. I understand they have different functions. Clockspring is power to airbag and control module connects to, in my case, the CAN-BUS that actually sends the signals. Am I correct in my thinking here? I have just about put all the pieces together for my MK6 MFSW retrofit and still wondering if I'll need a new clockspring or not.

i just got my edelbrock performer rpm intake and my holley 4 barrel installed but it won't run...the only way i can get it to hit and run at all is to floor it like it's flooded...then it'll run for a second but will never rev up and get going like it should...so i watched some vids on youtube for setting mixture on holley's wich i was pretty sure about anyway...turned the idle mixture screws in to snug and then out 1 and a half turns. is this a symptom of a bad vacuum leak or is it something to do with the carb maybe not enough fuel?
it's a holley 4160...list-6619...which is 600 cfm...it's on a 302 with 3 speed.

I just got new tires installed on Saturday. I drove home about 3 miles with no problems. I then started driving this morning and when I got on the highway (70+ mph) the TPMS light came on. I pulled over and all of the tires looked fine. I tried resetting the button but it immediately came back on. I then had to drive about 20 miles round trip down to the 1st exit and back home. I attempted to go to the tire installer but they were closed. I checked the tire pressure next door at a gas station and all the tires had 38-40 psi.
Two things of note. The passenger side tires stem caps did not screw on tight, instead they would just keep spinning. I don't think tight caps could have caused this though. Secondly the tires were replaced because they had very little tread left and I hit numerous pot holes one night causing a flat in one and a bubble in another. Why this would happen. I would think a bent rim could cause the air to leak but the pressures where perfect all around.

I just had a new header installed (deletes first cat) and had my header back exhaust redone with high flow resonator and cat. As expected it eventually threw up my check engine light, I am assuming because the poor computer is utterly confused by what my 02 sensors are telling it. I was thinking tuning, but I am not sure where to find a tuner for the camry, or which tuners would work on the camry computer.

So I bought and installed bc coilovers and my abs light and 2 other lights came on. I did accidently mess up one of the wires on the front left strut but it is not torn in half or anything just sliced into a little. I electrical taped it back together.

I would like to enable the OEM bluetooth on my 2008 Prius (NOT interested in aftermarket). The MFD service menu has bluetooth settings listed on the menu, but apparently there is no bluetooth hardware installed because it won't recognize bluetooth devices.

My Prius kept draining freon and they couldn't find a leak. Finally, a few mechanics later, they said my compressor was bad and replaced it. It was 1200+ for the repair, but it has a 12 month warranty. A/C was already getting less cold only a couple months later, but when I took it in, they said it's fine. Well, now it's been 10 months since the repair and it's blowing hot air. It progressively got worse and worse and I've been dreading taking it back but finally am. It's a 2005 with 125,000 miles.
