My suspension has been creaking even when I get in the car. I'm not even that heavy (about 150 lbs). The ride feels the same as it has before, but I also notice squeaking when going over bumps. This mainly happens in the rear shocks. How to fix it?
View 4 RepliesJust recently I've been hearing a slight creeking sound coming from the front end when going over bumps. I don't have a lot of suspension knowledge so I'm not sure where to start looking and wanted to see if others had the problem, and what the outcome was? The car is at 60k miles.
View 20 RepliesWe have an 07 Jeep Compass, 2.4L, 4WD. About 3 months ago we started to get a creaking/squeaking noise out of the rear suspension. First time I looked at it I found a lot of rust on the calipers and rotors, so new calipers, rotors and pads. Got quieter for a week or so, then it started again. Put the rear up on jack stands and pulled the wheels again. Used a 4' pipe to move the suspension up and done. Had a little bit of noise, but I could not pinpoint the source. Soaked all the bushings with light weight oil and put it back on the road.
A little better for a day or so, but still creaking. Had a problem with one of the new pads (the latest friction material, no abestos, no copper), so back on the stands and change the brakes again. Same thing, quieter for a day or so, then back to creaking. It does this at slow speeds in parking lots. Don't really hear it on the highway. Took it to a dealer for state inspection and told them find the squeak. Claimed they could not hear it.
My daughter drove the mechanic around, no noise. 5 miles after it left the dealer it is back. There is a TSB for parking brake cables with a boot failure. Checked our over the weekend and boots are good, cables are not rubbing. It seems if you fully extend the suspension by jacking it up, that makes it better for a day or so, then its back. Sprayed every joint with Lithium grease last time.
I have a creaking/squeaking noise in my suspension that is getting worse and worse. maybe it isn't getting worse, but it sounds worse to me everyday because I am tired of hearing it. I have swapped out my shocks and that did not do the trick. i have tried lubricating the leaf springs and all other suspension parts in there, still nothing. i was thinking about changing out the entire leaf spring package, but exactly what the problem is.

View 13 RepliesQuick question : I just noticed a strange "creaking" or "squeaking" coming from my front suspension when I turn the wheel back and forth - while having the car at a stand still in the driveway...
I'm assuming my Strut Mounts (bushings) and/or Strut Bearings have gone and need to be replaced? As the creaking sound really souds like it could be the rubber bushing buckling?...
I just want to be 100% sure this is my issue before ordering the parts. Need to confirm that this noise I'm hearing is bad mounts or bushings? Or is there something else I should take a look at before ordering the parts?

I carried eleven 40 lb bags of dirt in my Honda Civic (1998) - in the trunk and backseat - and then drove about two miles with the dirt in my car. After unloading the dirt, when I got back into the car I heard a distinct squeaking sound - like something in the suspension moving or creaking - the sound seemed to come from the middle of the car. I started up my car and there was no sound but as soon as I began to drive I noticed that my car was leaning distinctly to the left and there was a rubbing and squealing sound coming from the left front end of the car - or so I think. I got out to check whether there was anything hitting the tire, but there wasn't.
I didn't drive the car very far, except to park it. The car is drivable, but just makes an unbelievably loud squealing/rubbing noise now. It does not pull to the left, but is leaning to the left as if something broke or cracked or I have a flat tire (which I don't).
I've carried heavy loads before - but perhaps this was the last for my Honda. I thought it might be the suspension, then maybe cracked CV boots. I have 129,000 on the car and have kept up maintenance on it.
2010 VW Passat - Sedan
See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

When going over large bumps and dips I'm hearing a very high pitched squeaking noise coming from the rear end. Over small bumps I hear nothing, it's only the large bumps where I hear the squeak.

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.
this is the list of things that I replaced already:
2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends
Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...
I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.
Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?
My car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?

VW dealer service persons think they hear it sometimes. Been chasing this problem for a year or more, mostly notable in cold weather. Condition evident driving on uneven pavement, dips in the road etc. Passengers ask "what is that squeaking".

View 5 RepliesIt's a 07 prius with 65k miles. I realized that it is making this squeaking noise while going over bumps "ONLY" when the brakes are applied.
I have 2 toyota dealerships checked. 1st dealer said no noise and 2nd dealer also said no noise... then, i requested to drive with the mechanic and he somehow heard the noise while I am in the car.

I have a pip which is about 2 months old and has around 6056 miles on it. I had a 2010 prius hatch before this drove it 186000 miles with out even needing to change the brakes and it didn't have any of the following symptoms.
ever since i drove the pip off the lot i have been noticing allot of creaking in the plastics inside the car and squeaking the cup holder and the dash it all got worse once i installed trd lowering springs i now this is happening due to road vibrations but should i take it to toyota and tell them that it feels like all the plastic pieces are lose inside the car and broken.
Noticed suspension squeaks in C? Seems like I have one that is on the left side of the car when I leave early morning. It seems to subside as the outdoor temperature climbs.

View 4 RepliesI almost bought a Gen 2 Prius, right before the introduction of the Gen 3. Then I waited a few years before I finally bought my Gen 3 Prius.
Don't let this out. But it's bothering me that I'm no longer at the top of the Standard Prius evolutionary chain.
The Gen 4 tribe is chipping rocks to make arrow heads... and using fire to cook meat and provide warmth...
Every time I go over a bump, the term Independent Rear Suspension pops in my head. An instrument panel that has multiple colors. I can only grunt and slobber and take what comfort I can from the pale light of the vacuum tube like glow of the Gen 3 instrument panel.
I have an 04 rx 330 with air suspension. The swaybar end links have just been replaced on the front and a rattling noise persists.
The noise happens over large and small bumps at high and low speeds at normal and low vehicle height. When the height is at "HI" the noise is louder and it feels as though the front end is shaking loose over bumps at 10 km/h+.
I took it in and was advised to replace the end links, they did so and returned it claiming the noise was gone. The air compressor and struts are in working condition.
I have done a search through the forum, not extensive... I was wondering which other components come loose/wear and cause a clunk/rattle/shudder noise.
Also, tires are new and at approx. 32-34 psi.
So I've got some creaking going on at low speeds only over small bumps. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger rear area. It's an 08 with just under 28k miles. I'm not noticing any issue indicating the strut being blown, it's just an annoying creaking. I didn't realize how noticeable it was outside the car until driving through a parking garage with the windows down on Friday.

It has ST coilovers already and read a post from the previous owner here and he said the noise started after the install and he was told ot was the upper mounts??? Does this sound correct?? Also i noticed it when parked and just turning the wheel back and forth, popped the hood and had my son turn it and it did sound like it was coming from the upper strut area....
