View 3 RepliesI have a crack in the driver side taillight in my 2003 VW passat GLX wagon. I opened the panel in the rear where the audio amplifier seems to be located. I can find 3 nuts to remove for the taillight and that seems to have loosened up the assembly. There seems to be a fourth fastening point. However, I can't find it. I can't seem to remove the black amplifier rack to get a better view.
View 1 RepliesSo sometimes my front drivers headlight and drivers taillight decides not to work. Sometimes one will work and the other wont and other times they all will be working fine. I've checked the fuses and the bulbs and they both are fine.
View 10 RepliesI have 2005 Prius , and the inner fender liner on the driver's side needs to be replaced. The clips came loose and the loosened liner had been rubbing against the tire.
I'm wondering if replacing the inner fender liner would be a DIY job ?
2006 prius 130k ...
I replaced the rear drum brakes, wheel cylinders, and bled the brakes. I discovered on drivers side, that no matter how much bleeding, the brake does not engage on the rear drivers side. While bleeding, I discovered very little pressure. The brake light, VSC, ABS, and ! lights remain lit while the cars on. Does this sound like a master cylinder or ABS failure? Can the autoenginuity scan this issue?
Just noticed this today. Carpet behind driver side (US model, 07, 150k miles) is wet! Does not smell dormant, and seems "soapy." Did not have rain, car is garage kept, windows never left open, did not go through car wash recently whereby water would have seeped in, have not had rain, nor have driven through rain recently.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius and recently both my driver side front door and driver side rear door lock actuator failed. I browsed and found part number to replace the driver side front door lock assembly. I wasn't very confident in my ability to replace the assembly, but I decided to give it a shot, so I ordered the part. The part arrived today and my wife and I just finished successfully replacing the assembly. It was a little challenging, but now that we know how to do it we could probably do it again in half the time.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a 2005 Prius a couple days ago and have spent the weekend discovering "hidden" little issues. One was that after a heavy night a rain there was a small pool of water in the very back of the car underneath the cargo area near the wire that runs from the traction battery. In fact the little prongs holding a slim white (electronic) box connecting to the battery were rusted out.
View 3 RepliesThe front and rear driver's side tires are wearing on the outside edge. Searching about, I find that camber problems are indicated with outside edge wear -- but....
View 19 RepliesJust got my 2012 Prius from the body shop. Got hit in the rear where the starting battery is.
Had window control problems since battery was replaced.
Problem is that the driver-side rear window can't be controlled by the driver. It works fine with its own control but not from up front. The light on that windows button is not lit like the others. When pressed it lights and when released it blinks a few times and goes out. I unhooked the starting batter to try and reset things with no luck.
Any diagram for replacing a side mirror? I've read the threads about how to replace them, but if there was a cutaway view or diagram, it would sure make my job easier. I have a 2007 Prius, a replacement mirror, and the desire to fix it myself. I just do much better if I can visual the job at hand.
View 4 RepliesSo, if you've ever replaced bulbs in your Prius you'll notice that the rear taillight assembly has a light source on the very top that you just can't replace.
It appears to have a similar release collar than the lower bulbs but this fails to release.
So, I've been told by my Toyota dealer that they will have to replace the ENTIRE right rear tail-light housing since those bulbs are LEDs and as such are non replaceable.
What if the left side does the same thing not long after? Where the very top portion of the taillights are dimming to invisibility? Any better method for replacing this?
Awhile back I did get my battery replaced and I did reset my windows so they could be used from the driver side panel. As of now, I can roll down all of them from the driver side except for the passenger side rear (window diagonal from driver). The window does roll down from the door itself so the window isn't broken. The light on the driver window switch is lit green, not blinking. However, the light on the window switch on the passenger door is NOT lit and not blinking either. And yes, I did make sure the window lock was not on.
Could the switch, either passenger or driver door, be bad? Should the battery be disconnected and reconnected??
What is the location of the taillight relay? My taillights (and all other exterior marker lights) have gone out and the display no longer dims at night. The fuse has no supply voltage. My best guess from the wiring diagram is that the taillight relay is toast. It would seem a simple operation to pull the relay and just check it. The problem is finding it. The repair manual says it is in the fuse/relay box over the drivers side front tire. However there is no relay in that box marked as taillight and all the relays are accounted for from the diagram. The car is an 08.
View 3 RepliesI just did timing belt and driver rear window wont go up. light flashing at switch. Rest all others nogo on this one. Disconnect battery and try again ?
View 3 RepliesMy driver side rear door won't lock any way that I try to lock it. I have tried to lock it by using the lock/unlock contol button that locks or unlocks all of the doors at one time on the inside of the drivers door and it won't lock. I have tried to lock it by pushing the rubber button on the outside of the drivers door and it won't lock.
I am unable to move the lock button next to door handle in the inside of the door on the rear drivers side door. Which led me to check the child lock lever that one can see when they open the door. Moving child lock lever doesn't do anything either way it is set to change the problem. Also I am able to open the door from the outside or the inside.
All other doors lock and unlock properly. My question is when there is an actuator motor problem does that make it so that one is unable to move the lock/unlock button on the inside of that door?
Driving to work this morning my 'please check lights' warning came on and sure enough my drivers side side light bulb seems to have failed.
Trying to look via search and many threads to see how much work is involved to replace this tiny bulb. The car is due a service shortly and i could get the VW dealer to sort this out but is this going to be something daft like 3hours labour/bumper removal or is it an easy DIY?
This is the first thing to 'fail' in 2.5 years of owenership and not one that needs immediate remedy but would like to sort it out. Presumably i can buy the bulb cheaply enough from VW or Halfords as its not HID etc.
So, I can get a 2003 that has a bashed door. Question is, putting in a salvage yard door will have another car's VIN tag on it. How can it be transferred, or is it even an issue? Just scrape off the wrong one?
View 3 RepliesI have my 2004 gx470 in for service today. I have noticed that the air compressor seems to run longer and more frequent . I bought the trunk July of 2013. I have lexus plat extended warranty. Prior to this service in august of 2013 I was experiencing similar issues and when the truck was in then they replaced the rear air height control reservoir assembly . Now they are changing the rear drivers side airbag . My question is should air bags be replaced as a pair. Will I notice any ride difference since they are only replacing the one that is leaking . I would figure common sense would apply and that the air bag works or is does not.
View 6 Replies2004 Prius. When the brakes are applied, the passenger side brake light (LEDs) is dim compared to the driver side. Are the LEDs just dying a slow death? I always thought LEDs either work or don't.
View 3 RepliesJust started experiencing an AC problem. First started with diminished cooling and airflow. Checked the filter and it was dirty, so replaced it. Airflow is completely restored however the air from the drivers side vents is significantly warmer than the passenger side vents.
