2007 Prius
I just replaced the 12V battery with an Optimus yellow top. The car still will not start. All dash lights come on, READY light does not. Car will only shift into Park and Neutral.
Battery reads 12.6 volts when not hooked up and 12.3 when cables attached to terminals.
I replaced the HV Control ECU on my 2007 Prius, because my coding scan read POA1D. Now the lights on the dash all light up, but the Ready light does not come on.
View 1 RepliesI have 2004 Toyota Prius 110k miles on it. New auxilary battery on it. VSC, Brake and Red triangle lights are on. The car wont start. System comes on, but ready light doesn't not appear.
If I discoonect the battery for a minute and connect it back, I am able to start and drive it. After a minute VSC, brake light comes on. I still can drive the car and it drives perfect. As soon as I shut it off, I won't be able to restart it again. I have to disconnect the battery for a minute to get it started. Inverter pump seems to be working fine.
I got the codes with the paper clip VSC 43, Brake 36. After resetting the codes, I drove the car and now it throws VSC 51 code.
Check engine light is not on. When I checked with OBD scanner, it does not show any codes. When we checked with shop's scanner, there was a code smth "LOST COMMUNICATION WITH HYBRID..."
We just replaced the Traction battery in my 2004 prius. The car has 242,000 miles on it and was running fine when we pulled it in. The battery was purchased used from a 2005 prius with just over 80k on the clock. The replacement battery was removed from the wrecked prius less than a month ago.
The problem is that after installing the new traction battery, every thing looks great except the Ready light will not come on. There are no warning lights except the little red light that indicates there is no key in the car. The key will remotely lock and unlock the car so I'm sure the battery is not dead and the no-key light stays on even if I insert the key into the key slot on the dash. The shifter will only move from Park to Neutral.
What am I doing wrong? Is there some special procedure to go through to make the car recognize the key after replacing the battery?
I have a 2006 Prius that is giving me fits. The car is equipped with the smart key but it seems to be working normally. I insert the key, press the brake, and then press the power button like I am supposed to but the "ready" light doesn't come on and the car won't start. I checked the brake light switch and it is working correctly. 12v battery is charged and shows 12.35 volts. I have been tinkering with the car for the past three days and have only gotten the light to come on and the car to start twice out of the numerous tries.
The last time it started the dreaded "triangle" and check engine light were on so I plugged my scanner in and got code P0A1F, I had a spare battery ECU so I replaced it, while I was at it I removed the battery and cleaned the terminals, there was only a very small amount of light corrosion on a couple of cells. All cells tested good and had uniform voltage. I haven't gotten the car to start since putting everything back together. I have a small amount of experience with these cars but I've got alot to learn.
So from the beginning the car wasn't coming on. It gave me error "p" said my parking break was not working properly and needed to be on a flat surface in order to work. We jumped it and replaced the battery shortly after that. The car will turn on but the actual engine is not turning on. The display screen has a little car with a red exclamation going through it. The dashboard also has all the lights on. We have tried to jump it from the relay at this point but it wont start now to where before it would.
View 6 RepliesQuick question, my wife wasn't able to open our '04 Prius with the FOB. I replaced the battery, and the FOB started flashing, which I'm assuming means that the new battery is working properly. However, after I put the FOB back together, the lock/unlock buttons still don't work. I can still manually open the car with the attached key and start the car with the FOB, but I was wondering if there's still a problem.

View 15 RepliesI've got a 2010 Prius w/ NAV. Yesterday morning, my Prius would not start. When I pressed on the brake, the green "Ready" button would not light up. When I pressed the start button, the NAV screen came on as did some of the dash lights, but the car engine itself was not on. When I hit the start button again, I had a yellow triangle on the left side of my screen that continued to blink.
From reviewing the forum, I believe that the issue is the 12V aux battery. I was able to get my car into maintenance mode, and the 12V battery was reading 8.6V; however, this was after my car had sat in the garage for 10 or so hours. However, by going into maintenance mode, I was again able to get my car to start. This morning, I drove my car to work (about a 15-20 minute drive). After I got to the office, I turned the car off and got back into maintenance mode. This time, it was reading 11.6V on the battery.
Am I correct that this is most likely an issue w/ the 12V battery going bad on me? I purchased my Prius in July 2010, and I have never changed the battery. It sounds like the "typical" lifespan for the battery is right around 4 years, so this seems to make sense.
I recently changed out my 2006 blown gas engine with a great running 2008 engine and also replaced the hybrid battery. After connecting everything, my car won't start. All the lights come on except for the ready light. Does something have to be reset?
View 13 RepliesI most recently drove my 2006 Prius around on Saturday Feb. 1, with no problems at all. I went out of town for a couple of days, and returned this afternoon to a car that will not start. I stepped on the brake, pushed Power, and things lit up, the "Ready" light flashed a few times but then went off. Power button light stayed orange.
Several warning lights on dash stayed on (!)/ABS/VSC/traction control, and a message came on the screen saying something about a problem with "P" parking, and that it should be parked level and the parking brake applied. It is sitting level with the parking brake applied already. Also, the door ajar warning light and beep start as soon as you open the car door to get in.
I'm thinking from what I've read that my 12v battery has died/is dying. I'm the original owner, bought car in March 2006, and it has just under 61,000 miles on it.
Purchased an 04 Prius with 140k miles and bad HV battery. Used torque app and pulled original codes for bad HV battery. I was able to drive/limp the car home for tear down and replacement. After installing a used HV battery that had 80k from and 08 car. It will start but shutdown after a few seconds. I was able to put it in to drive and move it but it still dies. Energy display shows no battery status and now I get the connect to air conditioner communication warning. The battery's are reading 15.2 volts each from the torque app these are read in pairs so seeing 14 readings all within .1v of each other. I am not getting any codes from the computer.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius recently replaced the hybrid battery. Not so happy with it, my mpg b4 was 49-51 mpg, now I only get 40-45 mpg. I notice the car is a little weaker and the ICE rev higher everytime I accelerate.

I replaced the aux battery yesterday which I was lucky to get at cost at the toyota dealer since the aux battery was original. Put it in and all was well with the car for the rest of the day. Got in it today and headed out and was welcomed with the big stupid "!" triangle, the regen brake warning, check engine light, "PROBLEM" written on the display with a picture of a "!" inside a car outline, and some severely reduced performance. So I looked online and found a place with a bunch of low mileage batteries out of smashed up 2009's.

I replaced the cell and put the battery back in now the check engine light is on and the problem triangle is on and the car wont start and only shifts into neutral but when I check for codes i get nothing .
View 6 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius, MFD died one day, screen completely dark and all buttons on it are unresponsive. I used a voltmeter to check the 12v battery which had troubles last winter (had to jump it once) and it was at about 10.6v so I just replaced it with an Optima battery. Sadly the MFD is still blank.
The MFD actually came on for a second a couple weeks ago which led me to believe it was still functional and just not getting enough power from a failing 12v.
I have a recently purchased 2005 Prius- Mileage-150.3k having several lights on the dash: ABS/VSC/Engine Check/ Brakes, etc. See attached screen shot. Initially, I got into the shop and had the codes read out several codes. In all, I was informed the root cause was a bad 12v and bad hybrid batteries. By this time , the car was still moving, though not very smoothly. however, less than a week thereafter, the car couldn't start again.
We decided to replace the 12v first, hoping to get it back to start but it wouldn't. I've checked the fuses in the engine compartment as well as on the steering column- all okay. I've checked battery voltage, it's now at 12.3v. When I try to start, the Ready light would simply flash for 2-3 seconds before going off. I've rechecked battery connections as well as the brake controls by the 12v battery- all well tightened.
I've attached some pictures of what it looks like. Sometimes there are no lines and just black but the display button still overlaps. Everything else seems to be working. I think this happened when I got the 12v battery replaced. I am also not sure I have a nav dvd. How do you eject those DVDs?
View 2 RepliesI purchased a 2005 Prius with 54k miles with a rebuilt title July 2011. About a month after I purchased it (from a private seller) I started to hear a slight grinding noise. It turned out it was the transmission/transaxle. I drove it for about 4 more months since I knew I had to replace the trans anyway. Next, I sourced a used transmission from the guy I purchased the car from. I installed the trans myself. But, it wouldn't run right at all afterward... it wouldn't go over 5mph and it would jerk. I took it to a Toyota shop and was told that it now had a dead 12v battery and HV battery.
I had both replaced. It still had the same issue with drivability. I took it to the dealership for a proper diagnosis and was told the transmission was the issue. So, I purchased another used transmission and installed it. I was very careful to make sure everything was installed correctly. So, now the car won't drive at all or even go into park. Attached is a picture of the current screen, which says "The transmission 'P' lock mechanism is abnormal. Park your car at a flat place and apply the parking brake completely." So, did I get another bad transaxle?
As I see it - my choices are
1) put in another used transmission, which I could do (3rd time is a charm) ,
2) spend more money to diagnose the car again or
3) sell it as is and get nothing for the car
I took my 2005 Prius to dealer and was told both battery computer and battery CPU were bad (easy $4,000.00 fix). So, I pulled big battery, located bad cell and replaced with similar voltage (7.9 VDC used cell). After re installing, the car will only go to neutral and will not start. Note, before tear down, car would start and run (I drove home from dealer). Before pulling big battery I could reset trouble lights for short time by removing ground to AUX 12V battery. Now, lights don't change and are always on. Car will not start or run and will only go in "Park" and "Neutral" and "B" does not show on dash like usual.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius. We left for vacation for 2 weeks. Came home. Started the car and then all the lights came home. I thought the battery must have drained. But the lights are all on with a new battery. Is there a way to clear all these?
