the problem is, i was listening to music in my prius 05 setting the equalizer. After i got my work done, i pulled the key and closed the door. when i was pressing the lock button in my remote key, it wasnt working. Then i went inside my car and even the locks and other things werent working.. nothing was working eventually.

What I basically need is a broken remote, essentially just that red rubber cover.
I have a 2007 3.6 wagon. Tonight, I opened the tailgate with the remote and when I pushed the button on the gate to close it, nothing happened. The close button has suddenly stopped working. I called the dealer and he told me to push it down by hand. That's fine for now, but I want the button working.
There isn't something I did wrong to get the button to refuse to close the door is there? I am assuming the button is broken and needs to be replaced, unless someone tells me that this is a common problem and there is an easy fix.
I traded my 2005 prius a year and a half ago for an '08 which apparently was a rental car for 40K miles before me. It came with only one key(not a SKS)which recently quit unlocking the doors and hatch remotely. I looked under the steering column and there is only a reset button for the tire sensor guage, and a couple blanks, presumably one would be for the remote/smart key reset.
I am currently using the enclosed key to manually unlock the doors. The remote works as usual when I place it in the slot to start the car. I live an hour plus from the closest dealers, and would love to address this issue without having to go there. I checked the FOB battery and even replaced it, although the voltage was practically identical between the existing battery and a new one. The little red light is operational when i press lock/unlock. The car stays outside - i don't have a garage, and remains unlocked between trips. Recently it sat for several days in the last large snowstorm. When I finally drove it up the 1/3 mile driveway, it would not lock when i was ready to leave it up on the 'hard road'. I've checked out a few related threads, but haven't hit on this issue yet. Perhaps the 12V battery is weak?
My 2005 Prius has today developed a fault, the central locking won't open or close with either of the remote key fobs. I allowed for a strange coincidence that the batteries in both fobs could die at the very same time and replaced one, still not working. The mini-key in the fob will open/close the central locking (all doors plus rear hatch). But of course the alarm would sound as soon as I opened the door, inserting the fob into the "ignition" socket and starting the car silenced the alarm after about 30 seconds, but the remote fobs still won't operate the central locking or activate the alarm.

I have a '11 Prius IV with solar panel and remote AC button on my fob. Not much good information on this in the manual. I'd like to use the remote AC button (assuming a charged battery) to begin the interior warmup and defrost process on cold mornings.
However, it seems that when I hold the remote button on the fob as instructed in the guide, it turns everything on in the car for a brief moment (5 seconds or less) as opposed to a full 3 minutes as the manual describes. Again, the battery is at least 3/4 to a full charge and the process begins when I hold down remote start, but it just turns everything of after a brief period.
I have a PIP Advanced. I've tried using the remote A/C button on my key fob with no luck. Is there some special trick to it?
View 15 RepliesI noticed that my key fob has stopped working for remote locking/unlocking. This was not fixed with a brand new battery, and I just noticed that the depressed "unlock" button seems go have lost its subtle click, so there may be a mechanical failure inside there.

View 7 RepliesIt gets really cold in the winter (-30 C is common). Now I'm wondering how does the A/C button on the remote work? Is it literally just for remote air conditioning or can it also be used in freezing temperatures to remotely start the car to warm it up?
Normally I don't warm up my car but when it's been sitting outside in -20C or colder I sometimes let it run a few minutes just to clear the windshield before I drive.
If the A/C button doesn't work the heat also in the freezing cold, will this kit for the regular Prius work?
I happened to read the following passage on page 37 of the owners manual discussing usage of the wireless remote control:
To Unlock: Push the unlock switch once to unlock the driver's door alone. Pushing the switch twice within 3 seconds unlocks all the doors simultaneously ... This double switch operation to unlock all the side doors and back door can be changed to a single switch operation. For details, contact your Toyota dealer.Click to expand...
(Note that this is different than the "smart unlocking" operations discussed on page 32.)
I'm interested in having all the doors unlock with just a single press of the remote unlock button. How to achieve this setting?
Any way to defeat the stupid panic button on the remote? In the past I have poured glue into them, Popped the red thing out, etc , but this is a lease and I might well turn it in in a few years and do not want to physically modify the smart key, but twice in the last week it has falsely triggered by getting pressed by the other keys on my keychain as I sat in the house. This must be a common problem, since I had to defeat the same button on 2 other cars I had. I am wondering if there is a software fix to have the receiver in the car ignore the panic mode.
View 13 RepliesI have the Ford PowerCode remote start on my '08 F-150. Seperate one-button unit. The truck sat for about 5 days, and today I hit the remote as usual.......nothing. No lights come on, no horn beep,....nothing. I use the keyless entry, which works fine, and use the key to start the truck. Starts fine, everything works fine, but no remote start. Seems weird as it worked fine the last time I used it. I bought the truck new in August, and it was dealer installed. Batteries in both remote start units are ok. What would make it not work now?
View 11 Replies2007 Ford F150, Remote starter no longer works. after pressing remote (4) times. 3 with horn blast , it is to start. the lights flash, interior dash lights go on as if trying to start. It does this every 10 seconds or so till I hit brake. If I use the remote with the key inserted it starts right up. I had just replaced the battery previously.
View 3 RepliesThe only time I want to use my remote starter is when the temperature is below 10 degrees F. We've been having a nice cold winter where I live and have had more than a few morning of 10 to 20 degrees below zero. I let the car warm up for a few minutes to get warmish oil circulating before driving away.
The problem I've been having is when I try to use my remote starter, the engine will turn over for maybe a half second and then nothing. I've tried hitting the buttons again, and it does the same thing. Then I walk out and get in the car and it always fires right up.
When the temperature is warmer I've used the remote starter and had no problems. It seems to be just a cold weather issue.
I was removing a remote starter off of my 04 camry because it no longer worked. After I removed it i noticed that the radio and clock were not working. I checked the blue/red accessory wire on the ignition harness and noticed it looked like it had seen better days. So i decided to make the connect more solid by cutting the weak point and crimping it back together. Now I put the key in and turn it to run and I ONLY get the CEL light, the airbag light and the brake light(parking brake is engaged). I can't utilize the windows, it wont even attempt to crank, the a/c and heat don't work now. I checked all the wires in the area of the ignition harness and all are solid connection (tested with a voltmeter). I have tried to jump start the car with another car as well as unhooking the battery for 2 hours and nothing has changed. I also triple checked every single fuse i can see in the passenger compartment and under the hood and all are good. I also checked the circuit board behind the fuse panel under the dash and everything looked ok.
View 13 RepliesVW New Beetle convertible 2004 ... Unlocking and locking my car via the remote largely stopped working (with my main key and the spare). I took the car to the repair shop, and after driving 20 min, the remote worked fine. They checked the computer to see if failures had registered (they had) and told me I'd likely have to replace the part in the door (pricey!) if the problem persisted. It has. The remote won't work at all, and then after I drive the car for a while, it works (as if it is somehow being recharged by driving.) I phoned my repair guy again, and he's mystified, cannot explain how driving for a period of time makes the key remote work.

I did replace a battery a ways back ... I can't remember if this started happening right after that or not ... I've lived with it for a while now and am annoyed enough at this point to fix it ... In case this comes up, this is the only remote I have for the car right now ... Bought it used and it only came with one ...
