Prius (Gen 2) :: Red Triangle, Brake And VSC Light Came On With Beep

I was driving on the freeway when I hear a beep then the red triangle, brake, VSC, and check engine lights light up. It still ran well but whenever i step on the break a continuous beep comes on and the word "brake" comes on but disappears when I let go of the brake.

Prius (2004-09) :: Brake / Triangle / ABS And VSC Lights Came On

Recently while pulling into the gas station the brake, Triangle !, ABS and VSC lights came on. The dealer reset the error and said my ECU needs replacement at a cost of $1843. The Prius is a 2005 with 147000 miles. No problems since the reset so I am hopefull. I don't recall reading about a lot of others having to have expensive ECU replacements so I wonder how many have had similar problems and replaced their ECU.

Prius (2004-09) :: Brake - Triangle - ABS - VCS Lights Came On?

Just bought 04 prius. Anyhow fast forward to yesterday and I am driving home and notice the Brake light, (!), ABS, VCS lights come on. I read a couple forums about bridging pins 4,13 to get codes and this is what I have. (!)69, 57 ABS 42, VSC 45

I tested the battery and it was 13.8 V on and around 12.3 or something off. I felt around where the inverter pump is and it feels like there something going on in the middle hose. I tried to look in the reservoir but honestly I couldn't get it pumping when I had the hood up so I couldn't confirm movement in the reservoir.

I reset the codes (stomping on brakes 8 times) and it went away until I started driving home again today and they;re back. I added a file the is the sounds I hear when pressing the brakes. Truthfully I hear this all the time when I turn off the prius. I just noticed though that when I hit the brakes I hear it now. In the sound file you hear a pause when I press and release the brake pedals and reapply.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Brake / Red Triangle And Check Engine Light Came On At Once

I had just started driving this morning, when I a beeping sound came on and the Brake light, red triangle, and the check engine light came on at once, it is a 2006 Toyota Prius and it is my first car so I am still new to diagnosing the issue with my car.

Prius (2004-09) :: ABS, VSC, Triangle And Parking Brake Lights On

I replaced my rear brake shoes this past weekend. Immediately after I replaced them, the ABS, VSC, ((!)), and Parking Brake lights came on. I had not read that I should've disconnected the 12V battery before changing the shoes, so I wonder if that's related to the issue. I've read through as many threads here that I could dig up, but I still have questions. Here is what I know so far:

Car Info: 2004, 210k miles, Original 12V battery

Relevant Info: While replacing the shoes, one of the seals(?) (rubber part that slid over the piston(?)) slid off. I put it back on, and have checked for any fluids leaking, and have found none. I may pull the rotors off and check this again, though. There were no DTCs logged prior to the shoe replacement. Battery has shown no signs of dying, although I am going to check the voltage on it after I post this.

I tried jumping the pins, and I get the following flash codes (I tried resetting, but they came back immediately):

ABS: 4-2
VSC: 4-5
((!)): 6-5

I tried finding information on these flash codes, but have found nothing...

My CHS Tank was damaged in an accident a few years ago. I just replaced the CHS tank and the Inverter Coolant Pump within the last 12 months. It is still running when I power the car on and off as it should. I also jumped the fuse with a paperclip to double check that it runs.
My brake fluid levels are fine right now.

Possibly unrelated to the lights, but applying the parking brake is very easy. I don't think I adjusted the star adjuster enough. This is my first time messing with drum brakes, so it's possible I didn't adjust that correctly. Are these self-adjusting, or do I need to go back and adjust them by hand?

Prius (2004-09) :: Brake - Triangle - ABS - VSC Lights On Dashboard?

I have done some maintenance on a recently purchased 2004 Prius. Namely, replaced the inverter cooling pump, the right front wheel bearing and rear brake pads.

At a certain point, the brake, (!), VSC and ABS lights came on on the dashboard.

My wife is driving this car so I did not get the exact moment when the lights came on after my repair jobs.

I then replaced the 12V battery with a new one and reset the lights with the PIN 4-13 jumper on the OBDII connector. I did retrieved the error codes of each light and I googled them without any result and I now lost the paper where I had then written on

Prius (2004-09) :: Dash Displays Brake Warning And Red Triangle

We're on a road trip and the alarm tone goes off. The dash displays the brake warning and the red triangle (and the touchscreen has a car outline with an ! in the upper left). Also, the cruise control no longer operates. We return to El Paso and the dealer utilizes several hours and two diagnostics to tell us the Hybrid ECU needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, they can't get our Prius back to us until Monday, the day we are supposed to be back home starting work the next day.

We plan to call the other dealership in town in the morning. But is it safe to drive our Prius in this state? Can a regular garage make the repair? My father-in-law, an automotive repair professional back in Missouri, says that he isn't surprised if an ECU needs to be shipped from a Toyota distribution center since the part isn't regularly kept in stock by an auto repair shop.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Red Master Triangle / Brake And Vsc Warning Lights

I was driving down the highway today and the brakes light (!), vsc, and master red triangle warning lights came on, along with a car with an ! in it on the main display screen. There is no noticeable difference in noise, mpg, or breaking performance. From reading through previous forums a bad 12v battery seems to be a common problem. Mine was replaced ~8 months ago. About 2 weeks ago the serpentine belt snapped and the car was drove ~2 miles to my home where I replaced it along with the bad water pump and also the thermostat. Could that have caused my current problem. 130k miles on the car...

Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Triangle Warning / Check Engine And Brake Lights Came On

My 2005 Prius with 116K on it has been having some uneven acceleration lately and today the Triangle warning light, the check engine light and the brake light came on at the same time. I had about 1/2 mile to go, so I proceeded slowly and called the dealership which had performed a routine oil chg two days ago. They said that if the lights weren't flashing then I could drive it. They recommended that I take it to AUTO ZONE and put it on the analyzer. This elicited these codes: P3019: no definition and P0A80: replace Hybrid Battery.

I have an appointment in 2 days and I'm wondering about a salvage HV battery since the car is 7 yrs old and over 116K miles.

Prius (2004-09) :: Master Warning Light / Red Triangle Exclamation Point And Check Engine Light Came On

My wife and I own a 2006 Toyota Prius that we bought used 2 years ago. a couple of days ago, the master warning light (red triangle exclamation point) and check engine light came on. I took it into the dealer and of course, our hybrid battery was dead - battery and a new ECU required.

Our car is at 99,000 and 32 days out of warranty. Went down the road to atlanta hybrid repair. they were incredibly nice, and said that my computer was fine, but the battery would need to be replaced.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2004 - Red Triangle Warning Light Came On And Went Away?

The red triangle warning light on our 2004 came on and went away again It has 100k miles If I take it to the dealer can they pull some codes and figure out why it turned on We have to drive the car to 600 miles for the upcoming weekend and I don't want to be stranded on the side of the road The car has 103,000 miles We just replaced the 12v battery so I know that is OK

I also saw the following things to check. Is there anything else we should check?

1 - Are any warning lights on besides the red triangle? For example, the red BRAKE light, the amber ABS and VSC lights, or the amber circular icon?

2 - Did you check the brake fluid level? If low, buy a new container of DOT3 brake fluid and replenish as needed This fluid will dissolve paint, so do not spill it

3 - While you are at it, check the radiator and inverter coolant levels by looking at the translucent reservoirs behind the radiator and next to the inverter If low, fill with Toyota Super Long Life Coolant

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2004 Getting Red Triangle But No Check Engine Light Comes On

This Prius is an '04 with 156k and it will only start with a jump box. I went into the display and found the 12 volt battery reading 12.2 volts after sitting for 4 hours. When driving stop and go around town I will get the red triangle of death and vsc lights but NO check engine light comes on. Using a Scangauge it shows no codes, system ready. I look into pending codes and there is nothing. However when I force clear pending codes the triangle goes away.

It's strange there are no codes associated with this fault. I'm thinking to drive it and not force clear the pending codes and maybe a code will show up eventually but I'm not sure.

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle Warning Light Stayed On

This morning I went out to warm my car up for a few minutes because it has been so cold and when I started it the red triangle warning light stayed on and the consumption screen said "problem" across the top with a little icon in the upper left hand corner that looked similar to a high beam headlight indicator. I turned the car off and started it again wondering if it would clear which it did not. I left it running and went inside to get my child and by the time I came out it had cleared itself.

In typing this I recall that I thought it stayed on a little longer than normal the other day and just ignored it thinking it was still in lamp test mode on initial start up.

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle Light With CEL Code P0a80

Was driving home from school yesterday and my 2005 Prius turned the check engine light on and the red triangle light. Plugged into the scan tool it read: P0a80. I have a hybrid battery ordered. It should be delivered on Tuesday. How long can I get out of this failing battery before the car is undriveable? The Prius is my only vehicle and I don't have a problem with installing the battery, I just I'm wondering if the car will just drop dead on me before the battery gets here? The car appears to be driving normally with no loss of performance or MPG.

Prius (2004-09) :: No Power / Low Battery On MFD / Red Triangle Light

I changed my oil, oil filter, air filter at 90k for a trip to Miami this past weekend. Uneventful on the way up. On the way back, stopped and did some shopping before hitting alligator alley to come back home. As I got on the alley after paying the new $3 toll my 05 prius with 90k miles on it would not go over 65 with my foot on the floor and the battery on the mfd was in the pink. So I drove to the nearest exit, checked the fluids etc, all good. Got back on same thing so I put on hazards and stayed on until i could get off on a much slower road. I was going about 55-60 and it would go no faster.

As I got to a place I pulled over DC'ed the negative battery cable and let it sit for a half hour. I then attempted to get going and it seemed to be running fine until I attempted to pass a car and the car seemed to lock up and lose all power, check engine light came on and the red triangle light came on. I pulled over and let it sit again. I then got it to a gas station with the check engine light on. I put a few gallons gas on and tried to limp it home. It made it home and the battery seemed to recharge back to all the blue it can get to, but has yet to hit the green.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Speedometer Panel Will Not Light Up

I have an intermittent problem. Sometimes when I start my 2008 Prius, the speedometer panel will not light up. Also, when that happens the backup camera will not work. I tried starting the cal 4 or 5 times with the same result. When I got to my destination I stopped the car and 4 hours later started with no problem. It has done this 2 or 3 times now. Is my speedometer (instrument) panel about to fail?

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle Light Came On When Started The Car In The Morning - HV Battery?

I bought a 2005 prii with 145k miles about a month ago and have since driven it 1,200 miles. A few days ago, the red triangle light came on when I started the car in the morning. I had to get to work so I unplugged the negative on the 12v and reconnected it. It started and it drove just fine. I get off work and the same thing happens. I did the same thing and drove home just fine. I then ordered a optima yellow top from elearnaid and it was shipped and arrived in 1 day!!!

I installed the battery this morning and called the dealer to notify them of my situation. The light didn't come on so I thought it may just be the 12v. But of course I didn't wanna run out of warranty and then the hv battery completely goes bad. The dealer tells me to bring it in and I did. They "diagnosed" the car and could not "repeat" what had happened to me. They said because I unplugged the 12v, it erased any codes. I thought it's always saved on the ECU? anyways, I told them about installing a new 12v battery and they said, "that must be it." I'm at 147k miles right now and I don't want my 150k / 10 year warranty to expire before something really goes wrong with the hv battery.

Am I just screwed and hope for the best for miles to come? Or is there a Toyota number I can call to tell them of the situation? I'm almost hopeful that it was only because of the 12v but at the same time, I have doubts.

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle / Engine Light And Oil Warning (P0340)

I bought a 2006 Prius. A few days ago the car was driving along just fine when the red triangle appeared together with the 'problem' message followed by the red oil warning displaying in the top left corner of the screen. A few seconds later, the yellow engine light lit up and I drove the remaining mile or so back home (very slowly and carefully). I should point out that the car didn't drive any differently after these warnings appeared and I haven't noticed any strange sounds or anything like that.

I've been out to the car on a few occasions since. It goes into ready mode just fine and drives perfectly in EV mode. The triangle and oil warning reappear shortly after the engine cuts in every time it's started. The hybrid battery charges and discharges on the display when it's left at idle as normal. A friend of mine has a cheap and cheerful diagnostic machine that he brought over and that pulled the P0340 code which relates to the camshaft position sensor. That sensor has been replaced for a brand new one and the fault codes cleared but the code is still showing.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Red Triangle, VSC, Check Engine Light Came On

My beloved 2006 Prius with about 117,000 miles on it needs to go to the shop (I'm not a DIY mechanic). As I was driving home yesterday from work, all of the sudden the red triangle, VSC, check engine and a little car with an exclamation point on it on the display came on about 2 miles from home. There also appeared a kind of wind sound from the passenger rear area when this happened.

I drove it home and pulled into the driveway. Lights, radio, etc all work. I stopped it for about 30 minutes and then started it up again to pull it in the garage (all warning lights still on).

My question is can I drive it safely to my wonderful mechanic's shop about 10-15 miles from my house (assuming it starts)? I don't want to further damage anything.
