View 6 RepliesLast night, my 2008 Prius was hit from the rear. The bumper was damaged as well as a few starches on the hatch. However the latch for the hatch was move forward so the hatch no longer latches. Also during the collision, my daughter's heavy backpack was throw against the back of the passenger seat with enough force to hurt her back.
The airbag warning light remains on along with the dash indicator saying the airbag is off. Does mean all the airbags are disabled? Can this be reset? The car will be professionally repaired but I still need to drive it until I can get it repaired.
Based on searching it looks like on older Elantra's this would always display when driving solo but I've only had the car 3 days and I never noticed this before. Will this like be on and orange whenever I don't have a passenger?
View 13 RepliesI just picked up my 2015 XSE yesterday and I am loving it so far. One thing I noticed is that even when I am driving by myself the yellow passenger airbag off light is always illuminated. Is this normal? I couldn't find anything in the settings. I would think it should flash a couple times then turn off.
View 10 RepliesI haven't posted on Vortex since I owned my GTI VR6 I bought R32 number 258 last Summer and I have been loving it. Last Friday I installed all new dash vents as the tabs for aiming them had busted off every single one. I bought a full set of vents from a Chinese vendor off Ebay along with the dark red hazard button. The setup looks a million times better, but there is no indicator for the passenger airbag, and leaving the connector unplugged seems to throw and airbags fault. Any workaround? Will the airbags still fire in the event of an accident? Does the weight detector in the passenger seat still work?
View 5 RepliesOk, now I'm still trouble shooting my newly purchased 2006, I have the problem with the passenger airbag light with "airbag off" constantly lit. On my 2008, there is usually just the "airbag" light lit and when someone sits on the passenger seat, it will determine to light the "on or off" light.
View 3 RepliesI am the new owner of Prius 2008. I have it just a week.
Now, when I drive, I notice the passenger air bag light is always on, whether there is a passenger in the seat or not. Is this normal?
When a passenger sits in the front seat, the air bag "on" signal is illuminated, which stays on and I think this is normal. My question is should the passenger air bag light stay illuminated even if no passenger is in the front seat? Any easy solutions or am I worrying about nothing?
Couple days ago the security system was installed. Maybe the tech guy did something wrong..
I am adding a picture how it looks like ....

My 2007 airbag sensor does not respond to a weight of 20 pounds or more, it continues to read "off". The dealer said the problem is in the female end of the seat belt; however, the seat belt sensor works perfectly. It sounds like the wrong diagnosis to me.
View 6 RepliesI noticed today in my new to me 2007 that the dash is lifted a little where the airbag is on the passenger side. Should I be concerned?
View 12 RepliesI just bought a prius 2007.
I have a unique situation:
•No passenger: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with no seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
I have no other warning lights on the dash.
I tried to check to check if there are any loose wires/connectors under the passenger seat but everthing looks ok.
Is there a blown fuse?
My Touareg has Daytime running lights, and they are functioning, however the DRL indicator is not illuminated. Is it supposed to be illuminated all the time or only when the DRL malfunctions? If it is supposed to be on all the time, could it be a VAG-COM adjustable issue? The DLR in the instrument cluster never comes on, not even during start-up.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 manual Hyundai accent with 82,000 kms. In the last couple of days the mil has illuminated so i took it to a mechanic who put it on the computer which he says it could be sucking air or bad fuel or many other things. He did cancel the light which stayed out for about 70 kms and its back on its not flashing just illuminated. Can this do any damage to the motor if still driving.
View 11 RepliesLooking for access to all the airbag light OBD II codes for the 2006 Hyundai Azera? My airbag light is illuminated on the dash board and I would like to isolate the issue.

Yesterday out of nowhere the red Airbag light on the dash illuminated when I started the car. This has never happened before. I tried turning the car off and on, but it just came back.
The light comes on normally, then goes out. It then comes right back on at the same time the "passenger airbag off" light illuminates.
I made a quick check of the connections under the passenger seat and none seemed loose. I'm planning on taking a closer look and disconnecting/reconnecting the terminals to see if anything is obviously wrong.
I'm pretty mad that my Sonata has another problem. It only has 80k miles. I've owned it just over one year and I've had the following problems:
-fuel overflowing. I haven't been able to sort this one out yet.
-OCV failure. I replaced it myself.
-Lots of ABS and brake warning lights. Dealer eventually told me I needed a new ABS pump for nearly $2000.
-Now this airbag problem.
I'm definitely very dissatisfied with the reliability of this car. If I had it to do over again, I definitely would have spent a little more to get another brand. This has been the most unreliable car I've owned in my 13 years of driving.
Out driving the other day and suddenly lost power and dash illuminated the EPC and Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Did a bee line to my home and experienced loss of power and engine vibration. At traffic lighta it emitted large quantities of white or blue smoke that smelled like gas.
Connected to VCDS and had 4 codes:
000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
000769 - Cylinder 1 P0301 - 000 - Misfire Detected - MIL ON
004874 - Cylinder Disabling
000135 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure
My assumption was a bad coil, so I swapped them but no joy. Then decided to swap coils and plugs and observed cylinder #1 was filled with gas. Siphoned it out and it was able to fill about 1/4th of a beer bottle, or 3 ounces. Top of piston #2 looked slightly wet, but the origin could have been overflow from #1 via intake manifold. I'm thinking #1 injector stuck in the open position. Car is out of warranty so it may be on my dime unless I can convince dealer that this is power-train or emissions related. Best case, I need one or two injectors, oil replacement from gas contamination, plugs and labor. I thought about the worst case and it could be the above + a complete short block + catalytic converter. No tune, 100% stock
I have a 98 f150 4x4, 4.6L 150k miles, during start up the blinker indicator lights on the dash illuminated and stayed on, when trying the blinkers they did not work, but if I shut the head lights off the blinkers do work and indicators respond normally. This is the same if I turn the fan blower on, blinkers don't work and indicators stay illuminated. Also I have found that the power windows, and 4wd no longer work. Other functions work such as power mirror, radio etc. all fuses under the dash and under the hood are good, I tried switching some of the relays to see if that changed anything but with no success . took the kick panel off and inspected the grounds and all seem tight. It looks like the main battery ground is just to the body and there is one solid ground from the frame to the body under the cab. all seem tight and don't appear to be corroded. Truck starts and runs great.
View 8 RepliesI have an issue that popped up on my 2012 F-150 today. I was driving a bit today and when I returned home and shut the truck off I noticed that the right turn signal indicator stayed faintly illuminated. None of the lights outside are affected, and they all work normally, just that the indicator on the dash is staying lit.
The only thing I can see is that last week I smashed up the drivers side mirror and it busted the lens off of the LED lights in the mirror and 1 LED bulb is exposed. It did rain a bit today but I figured it would short out and blow a fuse if anything.
I will undo the negative battery cable tomorrow and see if it will reset, if not I will have te dealer check it out when I drop it off to have the roof reprinted next week.
What is the procedure to check the codes when the check engine light illuminates. I am looking for the exact procedure. For example in my other cars, you connect the scanner to the OBD2 connector, then you turn the key to ON without starting the car.
View 1 RepliesI'd like to turn off the passenger-side airbag in my 2006 Prius. I have a dual swing arm laptop mount that rises from the seat bolts on the passenger side seat and the apparatus sits clearly in front of the airbag. To give a visual of what I'm talking about, some pictures of the laptop mount can be found here.
For safety's sake, I need to turn off the airbag to prevent the possibility of crushing the passenger's chest or face in the event of a frontal collision. I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealership as they can be pretty hesitant to do something like this. (Which is understandable, but in my case, I need to have this modification done.)
Driving home early from work today, moments after leaving the parking lot the VSC warning light illuminated. Followed by ABS and Power steering lights a few seconds later.
Car drove normally. Systems seemed healthy.
I quickly pulled over, took this picture, and then power cycled the car. The warning lights turned [off] and stayed off for remainder of drive home (~30 min).
