Prius (2004-09) :: Passenger Seat Squeaks After Alignment
Dec 30, 2012
This has been driving me crazy....But, I had my Prius aligned by the independent mechanic who has aligned all our family's cars for years.

View 1 RepliesMy 2006 Prius front passenger seat (leather) squeaks constantly. Sounds like styrofoam rubbing against styrofoam. Been to Toyota dealer three times and they have not been able to solve the problem. Squeak only gets worse. Am I the only one driving a GenII Prius with this problem?
View 2 Repliesafter owning my car for a week now I've noticed a few issues.
1) Passenger seat-heating doesn't work. Is this a common issue? is there an easy fix for it? I searched but didn't come up with anything. Is there a place I can check the voltage output at?
2) The bumper alignment is off, way off. I think the previous owner hit something :/ my rear bumper is totally mis aligned. Is this an easy fix? can I just take it off and re-align it myself? Or am I going to have to buy new front and rear bumpers?
3) When I drive I have a wur wur wur like described in the other recent post. I'm not sure whether the wheels are off-balance or off-round; however I'm taking the car to belle tire soon to find out.
Just want to get the car back to 100% the previous owner didn't treat her well at all. When I got the car there was so little power-steering fluid it wasn't even reaching the dip-stick and the coolant anti-freeze level was below minimum.
Ok; so yesterday when going to the bank (to pay for my car loan no less -.-) My wife let me know (well started yelling more like) that there was water coming out of the dash all over the carpet. It was 40 outside so I was using the heat; had it set to 76. I tore apart the flooring and found where it was leaking
View 3 RepliesShortly after having my tires rotation/oil change service, I noticed a strong vibration around 45 mph, enough to visibly shake the passenger seat. Other indications:
- It is most noticable when accelerating (e.g. entrance ramp), much less when coasting at 45. I can coast at 45 and when I accelerate feel the vibration increase.
- I did not notice the vibration prior to the tire rotation, so I think it is unrelated to my accident in November.
- The vibration is not apparent at all below 40.
- I had all 4 tires rebalanced (thinking one of them may have thrown a weight) and I still have the vibration.
- I do have a little irregular wear on the tires (inside shoulder).
Before I take it in and have it looked at, I was thinking of taking off one wheel at a time and testing the car w/ the spare on to see if it is one of the tires.
Any other ideas about potential problems that could cause this vibration?
I just bought a prius 2007.
I have a unique situation:
•No passenger: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with no seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
I have no other warning lights on the dash.
I tried to check to check if there are any loose wires/connectors under the passenger seat but everthing looks ok.
Is there a blown fuse?
Have a seat and/or steering wheel that squeaks? If so did your dealer fix them? I have a driver's seat that squeaks when it adjusts for both entry and exit. It sounds like the leather is rubbing against something. The steering wheel squeaks during turns. I have about 3500 miles on my rig and the seat squeak appeared about 800 miles ago and the steering wheel squeak appeared about 500-600 miles ago.
View 9 RepliesI am a two Corolla owner. I have a 2004 with 205, 000 kms and a 2010 with 70,000 kms. By far, my favourite car to drive is the 2004. The build quality is by far better. I could list other issues or pt peeves of mine about the 2010.
My 2010 is giving me some issues.
For starters my seat and console squeak like crazy. About 10, 000 kms ago I had the dealer try to deal with it under a TBS.
The next issue I have is that when I turn my steering wheel I hear a low pinging noise!
Lastly, in my trunk that plastic pieces that hold the trunk latch cable to the trunk arm have broken.
As for those plastic pieces in the trunk, what the part numbers might be?
I just replaced front shocks and got the car aligned. Now I feel the difference in front to rear and want to change the rear shocks out too. I seem to remember someone suggesting under normal circumstances the Prius rear setup never gets aligned. Is this true?
View 4 RepliesI just got new tires and had an alignment done. The values for the rear were off ... not too much ... but the tech said the rear suspension of the Prius isn't adjustable.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to remove the front passenger seat? Is it just a few bolts? I have to transport my bicycle and it has an extremely long wheelbase (its a recumbent). I basically need the full length of the interior compartment to accommodate it.
View 12 RepliesMy passenger seat doesn't spring back when I recline it. The car is 15-months old?
View 1 RepliesJust got my RX330: passenger heated seat button lights up, but no heat. Any clues where to look to trouble shoot this seat??
View 2 RepliesI was cleaning the car the other day and found an enclosure under the passengers seat with a part that looks like an audio amplifier. Do the cars equipped with the standard NAV headunit (non JBL) have an external amplifier or what is that part for ?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2014 Prius V seven seater. A few times while driving, the rear passenger seat belt reminder display on the dash lights up even though the passengers are belted in securely and stays on until I stop the car and then power off and on again.
View 6 RepliesI've had this happen twice now. I got my gen3 in October 09' and lately the car has said the key wasn't present though it was sitting on the passenger seat. I had to put the fob up to the start button just to get my car started.
View 9 RepliesA few weeks ago, a relative was riding in the front passenger seat and asked me why the light said "passenger airbag off." I had seen that on before and didn't think anything more about it as I rarely have a passenger. Called Toyota to login the problem as I was traveling that week and thought I would be out of warranty before I could get it to the dealer. That particular light was on for some days afterwards and then I forgot about it. Tonight I noticed that "passenger airbag off" is not lit, but there is a light saying "airbag off."
I turned the car on and sat in the passenger seat, and the light that came on for my aunt didn't come on. Just "airbag off."
I have a 2012 Prius 4 and I'd like to upgrade the passenger seat to a power one. Where to go about doing that? Is it even doable?
View 4 RepliesI have noticed that the passenger seat has a vibration that can not be felt anywhere else in the truck. You can actually see/feel it from the drivers seat when no one is sitting in it. However, you can not feel this vibration through the steering wheel, gas peddle, door panels, etc. It increases with speed with is present at low and high speeds. My thought is that perhaps the seat is loose? When sitting in it it feels like the back right wheel is out of balance but I know it isn't (recent road force balance and feeling in all other seats confirms this). Could it be I just need to tighten the seat/tracks?
View 4 RepliesLoving my new to me GX470. However shocked to realize that front passenger seat does not adjust up or down. Wife has missed this feature that all of our previous cars have had.
I have read other threads on the subject and was wondering if someone could not modify a drivers side seat mechanism to work on the drivers side. I am aware of the GPS disk etc.
I have a fuel leak below the rear passenger seat, just off the fuel tank, something that looks like a filter or fuel pump, dripping fuel and after an hour it just stops, makes me think it`s empty. What is that thing anyways, has a hose running all the way up front? I have 2004 V8 beauty.
