Changed the engine oil last weekend at the in-laws' house. 800 miles later (they live 600 miles away, memorial day weekend getaway) today the Maint Req'd light came on. I checked the service manual and just as I suspected it said to replace the engine oil.

When I start the car, recently, a "Maint Required" light comes on and flashes about three or four times, then goes away. This is after all the other dash lights during the test phase go out. When I took it to have the codes read, the device said "No Codes" stored.
What does this mean? And is it a serious problem?
My "Maintenance Required" light on the dash is flashing 4-5-6 times when I start up the Prius every time, why?...
I went through all of my Maintenance menu items and most of them arent set to begin with, but the ones that ARE set, still have 4000+ miles til the next service...
The maintenance required light came on. Do I really need to do any maintenance at 5k?

View 2 RepliesI am just out of the dealer service period (2 years, 25000m). I took my Prius -v (3) 2012 to my mechanic. He did the oil and filter change, but could not reset the Maint Reqd light. It seems it is different from the regular Prius. I looked on the forum, and tried the suggestions, but none worked. It was supposed to be (with odometer showing).
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode. The multi-information displays initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→P. 186) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time. I tried doing this both with my foot on the break and off, but all I got was a reset trip.
Got 14 Prius V back from first maintenance today and noticed the mechanic forgot to reset the light. So I called my advisor and she told me what to do. Here is process for others to share:
1. Set odo/trip to Trip A
2. Turn off vehicle
3. Hold down mi/hr-km/hr button on dash
4. While holding down button, turn on vehicle to ON state (Press Power button TWICE, but DO NOT press brake pedal - you don't want engine to start)
5. Wait while Maint Req light flashes, then goes off completely - about 4 seconds.
6. Turn off vehicle.
Why this might not work suddenly in a 2014 Prius Five Advanced, where it always used to? Jiffy Lube couldn't reset it and nor could I. Followed the above to the letter. I have Smart Start installed, and the Pioneer Android Auto head unit. Would that matter?

I started it up to pull out of the garage and noticed the maint Req'd light blinking, it blinked about five times and turned off. Does it mean anything? if so, what? Just rolled over 100K. We bought it in late january and all the PM was done just wondering if they reset the oil reminder or what.

View 9 RepliesBought my Camry with 45k miles on it and just got the maint req'd light at about 50k. I picked up oil and a filter but it looks different than any filter I've ever changed. It has no canister and comes with a plastic nozzle looking thing and 2 O-rings.

View 2 RepliesThe engine symbol (not the "Engine Maint. Reqd." light, but the actual image-of-an-engine light) has been coming on and going off for the past 3 months. The car has 76,000 miles and is in great condition overall. When the light comes on, there's no discernible change in the way the car rides or feels. Each time I've gotten close to taking it in for service, the light has gone off, so I've decided not to spend the money. Since the first time it came on back in December, I've put a bottle of fuel-injector cleaner in and there seems to be a correlation with the light going off again anywhere from 1 mile to 50 miles later.

I have changed the oil myself though so I don't have to pay 30 dollars for 8 dollars worth of oil. View 14 RepliesI have an 09 Camry LE with about 59k miles on it and I just noticed today that When I turn my car on the maintenance required light blinks. But as soon as I put the car in drive it goes away, and does not return when I put it in park again.
I know all of your dash lights should come on at start up to show you that they work. But they all go off and that one remains flashing. I never looked at it before to know whether or not it's always been that way. Also when I first turn on my car, it idles at about 1.5k-2k rpm's. But if I keep my foot on the break and put it in drive then park again it sits at 1k or below. Is this normal? If not what should I be checking out?
When I first turn on my car the maintenance required light goes on for a couple seconds then goes off. I looked it up in the manual and that light says that it means the oil needs to be checked. I just bought the car certified used and they said that I didn't need an oil change for another 5000 miles because they just did it. Is that light supposed to go on automatically every time I turn the car on then go off?
